      Charlton Heston: the connection
Now I am explaining the connection between Charlton Heston and actinomycetes. It is indeed a very simple link, as you will see. As a boy, Charlton Heston was not Charlton Heston —not yet— but John Charles Heston and, under this name, he attended New Trier High School at Winnetka, a northern suburb of Chicago. There he might have met some students who later became famous, such as actor Rock Hudson (then still known as Roy Harold Scherer, Jr. [*]) and Nobel laureate Jack Steinberg (a physicist, donated his Nobel medal to New Trier High School). However, perhaps the three boys never met,... [Please follow the link on the title for reading the complete post with images and links]

Fitting Tribute to Charlton Heston: San Francisco Gun Ban Shot Down!
In November of 2005, wrong headed voters passed a bill, known as Measure H, that would have forbidden San Francisco residents from owning hand guns. If this goofy bit of unconstitutional meddling had been allowed to stand, law-abiding citizens would have been disarmed.

Okay. I couldn't leave this alone. There have been discussions about Charlton Heston on the internet all day with both the career and politics of the man being the forefront of that discussion.I made a rather facetious post earlier today that demonstrated how little I think of the man. Honestly, I am not judging the man on politics alone. If Clint Eastwood ever passes on, I would be losing one of my heroes despite the fact that I don't share a few of his political leanings. Also, someone like Eastwood has proven to be both a great director and actor.Charlton Heston, on the other hand, I have always believed to be a ham and not a very good ham. One of the finest movie and theater actors, who later became a prominent member of the NRA, has passed away at 84. BREAKING: American Hero Charlton Heston Has Died
~Snooper~Hat Tip to All American Blogger and MacsMind.Words from the family is here and a report is here.He was 84 years young and may he rest in peace.I met him many years ago in NYC at La Guardia...not that he would ever remember me but I remember the encounter and was quite impressed. I had no idea that he was directly in front of me until he decided to do an about face and we collided. He said, "Oh sorry. Pardon me." He then walked off. The folks I was with at the time asked me what I said back and I had the deer in the headlight look. Being so young, I just stood there having met one of my heroes and didn't do a damn thing but stare in disbelief that I let a chance of a lifetime vanish. Oh well.Always remember a True American.

Charlton sign Lita on short loan
Leroy off to Charlton ? no. Yes its official Coppel l has gone mad. We have a small squad and few strikers but still he's willing to let Lita go away for a month when we have important games ahead. So this is a striker who has scored and performed well in the reserve team and still Coppell wont pick him, you tell me that's not personal. Now I know Leroy has a lot of growing up to and his off field behavior has brought disrepute to the club but I'm sure he'll grow out of it very fast if he's playing regular football.

THE Match Report: Charlton 1 - 1 Barnsley
Very busy again! So heres the skysports.com report.I would really appreciate some help on writing articles here on TalkCAFC.co.uk. If you think you can give a hand, please email cafcbois@gmail.com .Charlton lost ground on Watford at the top as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Barnsley. The Addicks looked to have snatched all the points with just eight minutes remaining as Zheng Zhi headed home. But Barnsley - themselves flying high in the top five - fought back and grabbed an equaliser in the final minute through Kim Christensen. The Tykes could and should have won it in stoppage time but Grant McCann fired wide from point-blank range.

THE Match Report: Charlton 2 - 0 Leicester
Another great performance by the lads in red meant the Addicks climed to second in the table, just 2 points behind Watford. We dominated a match where Leicester really didn't pose any threat, and 2 casual goals, one from Varney getting his first goal for the club and one from Iwelumo meant the Addicks had secured 3 points as early as half time. The second half wasn't too interesting and no real threat was posed from either team, but it was good to see us crusing and see a performance which, if continued, will win us the league! An away trip this Saturday to ex-manager Iain Dowie's Coventry will be a tough challenge, but one we are fully capable of winning if we keep playing like we have been for the last too!Up The Addicks!

THE Match Report: Charlton 2 - 2 Norwich
Well, I had returned from my trip to the USA and as it was my first match back in the Valley and the first I would be seeing Charlton playing Championship football, I didn't know what to expect! BUT I was dead chuffed with what I did see!So I took my seat, with the band and my drum, and saw a completely different Charlton squad emerge from the SE7 tunnel! It was good to see Luke Varney make his home debut after his injury he sustained in pre-season.Charlton maintained dominance all match but never really managed to finish, with Andy Reid hitting the bar from a free kick, but narrowly missing a header. The referee seemed to miss around 3 blatent penalties due to Norwich fowls, but eventually after coming on 3 minutes earlier, Izael McLeod ran into the area and was felled by a yellow shirt. PENALTY!Andy Reid could do nothing but score and blasted the Addicks into a 1-0 lead with 5 minutes to go! All fans thinking we had managed to win this were much relieved when 2 minutes later, McLeod

Charlton and Chelseas Matchday Football Tactics - Luck or Skilled assessment
I have just been reading an interesting bloggers conundrum put out by Frankie Valley, a Charlton Athletic Blogger.Referring to the differences in Alan Pardews and Jose Mourinhos tactical nous he suggests that -"football management is 1% perspiration, 1% inspiration, and 98% luck. You can put the same team out every week, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. You could make the same changes at half-time every week, and get a completely different effect every time you try it"It's an interesting argument and one that has received much feedback. Here is my take based upon how I felt going into matches and what I saw at Professional Football Clubs.By the time match day arrives, 95% of the preparation has been made for the game. The manager and his coaching staff have completed 95% of the work necessary to get the result.Players have been prepared during the week, told their duties. The manager has done most of his work in the run up to the game. He has studied the opposition on tape

Football Blogger Blagging for Goals Videos from Charlton and Newcastle
I have been rescuing all my old football videos from my 10 year professional football career. In all I totalled 135 goals in 361 appearances in the Championship and the premier league and I thought it was time to make an attempt to digitize these old VHS tapes. At the end of every season I would buy the club video that highlights the season and shows all the goals. I have West Bromwich Albions seasons from 1992/1993 up to 1997/1998, the year I transferred to Charlton Athletic.I also have the Charlton promotion and championship season in 1999/2000. I have transferred all of these old videos on to DVDs and then to my computer, backing them up on an external hard drive. Now all I have to do is upload them to youtube and my football career is preserved forever.Unfortunately my videos from Newcastle United in 1990/1991 and 1991/1992 have been destroyed by 6 years of mould and fungus from living in the tropics. I also neglected to purchase highlights of Charlton Athletics first season in the

THE Match Report: Charlton 1 - 1 Scunthorpe
So a new season, a new league, and new times at The Valley. A summer of changes, with Darren Bent and Luke Young the most prolific of our departures, meant a completely different looking team started yesterday's match in the Coca Cola Championship. This is only a brief report as I am not in the UK at the moment, but come September you will have full Match Reports when I return, with the passion I carry from watching the match first hand. Charlton were unable to start on a winning note after drawing 1-1 at home to Championship newcomers Scunthorpe. Marcus Bent put Charlton ahead on 62 minutes, but new signing Izzy Iriekpen levelled on 69 minutes. Both artists are preternaturally talented and write on keyboards, sounding much older than their years. Media and Football Fans pressure for Charlton Athletic
Charlton Athletic Football Club will feel the pressure as they are expected to bounce back to the premier league this year at the first attempt. As one of the players who was in the team that was relegated from the Premier League the last time Charlton went down I feel qualified to comment on the feelings and pressures that the Football club will be going through.I remember in 1999, at the start of the season, Alan Curbishley was very nervous. It seemed to me that he knew the expectations on the club even though we had only graced the premier league for 1 unsuccessful season. His first few team meetings were to drill into the squad that it was vital we got off to a good start in that 1999/2000 season. In pre-season and the early games I felt Curbs was over-anxious that we get off to a good start.Curbs knew that as one of the sides that had been relegated from the Premier League we were expected by the media and by our own fans to be one of the front runners to get promotion.
