This was a fun week of grocery shopping, but boy are my pantry shelves full!
First, Superfresh was tripling coupons AGAIN (they just did it a few weeks ago), and they were offering a bunch of different Catalina deals. So, I went there twice in attempt to use the deals to the best advantage. In my first transaction I spent $51.76 (saved $83.71) and got back $20 in Catalinas for my next trip.
What the blazes is going on!

I recently purchased a high fiber cereal by Kellogg’s called All Bran Strawberry Medley. On the back of the box they have an All Bran 10 Day Challenge. They are challenging consumers to eat one serving of All Bran cereal for 10 days. They claim that due to fiber’s positive influence on our digestive system that we will have more energy and become more regular.
Are you up to the challenge?

At least 23 people in 14 states have been sickened by the salmonella found in two breakfast cereals, Malt-O-Meal’s unsweetened Puffed Rice and Puffed Wheat. The breakfast cereals have been voluntarily recalled by Malt-O-Meal.
Three people have been hospitalized, but no deaths have been reported.
Symptoms of salmonella infection include nausea, vomiting, fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps. I posted a new article on AlmostFit last night discussing how advertising that targets children affected me first hand. Its a sensitive subject to some, particularly because it raises questions of free speech and the free market economy. It's not a political article (at least that's my opinion), but it does touch on legislation that was designed to protect children, and the results.

Lately, I've become a little nostalgic. Since my kids are getting older, the days of morning cereal with my kids have long been gone. As a kid, the Captains cereal has been one of my favorites. The awesome imagery and colors of this design is really one of a kind in American produce and advertising. This semi contemporary painting borders on realism and pop art. Whatever the case, any excuse to capture the wonderful realism of this great America classic is fine by me.SOLD

As a child, I wasn't too careful about what went into my system early in the morning, and trying to get ready to reach my school in time never made breakfast a priority for me. Even when my mom and dad kept pestering me to eat properly and chew my food, most of the days I ate a slice of bread washed down with a cup of chocolate milk!! But as I grew up and became a bit more sane, I realised that breakfasts were the most important meal of the day, and it pays to make a healthy start. This led to discovery of cereals, and when I laid my eyes on the flavorful, tasty and healthy POST Cereals, I had found my paradise!! My love (or shall I say, my sanity?) for eating healthy, at least when I can, kept growing, and now I make it a point to keep some protein and cereal/granola bars handy in my purse or my office drawer so I don't have to binge on junk food in times of dire need! But buying those bars regularly can be an expensive affair, and when you realize that they are actually pretty simp

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. Its light and I usually get to decide what I eat. After getting a shock with the news that my mum had to retained in the hospital for check up on her high pressure, I decided that I should start to change my diet. Oh, do not worry, I am not going to starve myself, that plan never works, but what I am looking at is replacing some of the food we eat to more healthier food. I thought we have been eating too much fried food, and food with high levels of cholestrol. I made the family switched to wholemeal bread, made sure we drink boiled water

www.dogflu.caResults of a new study find that eating whole grain cereals can reduce a person's risk of developing heart failure. It has long been known that eating cereal with whole grains could reduce one's blood pressure and risk of having a heart attack, but now according to U.S. researchers they can also reduce the risk of heart failure. For their study, Djousse and colleagues studied the breakfast habits of more than 21,000 male doctors with an average age of 53.7 years for nearly 20 years. They found that men who ate 1 bowl of whole grain cereal per day, had a 28% reduced risk of developing heart failure compared to men who did not."Eating half a cup to a cup of whole grain breakfast cereal may help lower your blood pressure. It may help lower your risk of diabetes and heart disease," said Dr. Luc Djousse of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston."This study adds another piece to the puzzle. It may also lower your risk of heart failure," he added.Accord
I feel like I haven’t posted on the front page here in forever. See, I’ve been so wrapped up in everything else in my life (including scoring over 3 billion on the arcades here) that I just sort of “forgot” how to post here… Crazy, huh? But I figure if the Goob can take breaks, then so can I, eh? Hah.
Needless to say, when I get this sample of Fiber One cereal, I might have to take a few more breaks too… No, not to sit on my throne, ruling over my royal subjects in the sewers below, but just some more breaks to enjoy the cereally goodness that this sample will provide to me.
Geez, you tell one dirty joke and everyone’s minds in the gutter the second I post again…
I’ll be back a bit more often. I mean, I do have tests to procrastinate from all this week, so I have the perfect excuse…

Yesterday was the first time I have been alone in about ten days. The weight of all that I witnessed flooded my soul. It was a hard day.Even little things were hard.It was picture day at The Mayor and The Rooster's school.Their teacher called me on my cell phone while I was in Virginia to remind me about it.Unfortunately she failed to mention that I had to sign some sort of release form so when I picked the kids up from school I learned that there would be NO PHOTOS FOR ME.For some reason this inconsequential news made me slump down and sit where I landed in the play yard.I'm sure I looked pretty dejected.Rooster came and sat in my lap.Dave The Daycare Dad strolled into the play yard, looked at me and said,"Hi! Wow! You look TIRED!"I don't know Dave The Daycare Dad very well, but I took the liberty of responding in a matter of fact tone with,"Yeah. My Grandmother died in a horrible car accident last week. I am tired."He looked as though I had slapped him in the face.Is it me, or did

With more and more people jumping on the health bandwagon, it's nice to know there's a cereal that's delicious and good for you. Curves® Cereal is a sensible approach to help take weight off - and keep it off, too, with at least 1/3 of the recommended daily whole grain.* When you're in the mood for something that's nutritious and satisfying, choose from either Honey Crunch or Whole Grain Crunch. Or have a little of both1 Vote(s)
Cars have been popular with my children, both boys and girls, and this idea gives your resident Lightning McQueen hours of fun. Use old cereal boxes (and don't tell me you haven't got plenty of those lying around, we eat cold cereal here like it's going out of style) to cut chutes for little Matchbox cars to pass through, making your own system of highways, freeways, overpasses and intersections.Cut the cereal boxes in half lengthwise, leaving the left and right side flaps to act as guard rails. With a collection of these the possibilities are endless--you could recreate the California freeway system from the comfort of your own kitchen floor. In the pictures here Spencer, David and Lillian taped the box chutes together to make a car run that extended across the kitchen and into the living room, they even got Cain involved who contributed his own boxes to the project."I've got so many boxes, I had to get a big box to hold all the little boxes!" he said when he showed up on the door

Over at The Sneeze, Steve asks, “If you were driving cross-country, and were forced to bring a breakfast cereal mascot - who would it be?”
My favorites:
Tony the Tiger - Bad idea. Irritatingly upbeat and loud.
Likely dialogue:
“This interstate is GRRREAT! Look at that corn field! It’s GREEAT! You have cupholders?? THEY’RE GRRREAT! You’re pulling over?! GRREAT!”
“Get out.”
“GRRREAT!”
… and:
Sugar Bear - Mellow. Cool. Overall, not a terrible choice.
Cons: Might sleep a lot and not chip in for gas.
Pros: Smooth with the ladies. Could get you laid.
I have to agree with Steve and say I’d probably take Cap’n Crunch. Who would you choose?
When I first did the Atkins induction program back in the Spring of 2002 I found myself craving cereals for breakfast after I grew weary of eggs and leftovers. Anyone with kids under five years of age, stock up on ear plugs and start practicing the mantra "NO!" right now, because you're bound to get an earful of "I wanna's" when your kids get a load of the latest novelty food--Froot Loops Cereal Straws.Straws made from artificial powdered milk, covered by a Froot Loop shell, these are bound to be a big seller. This is a recipe I've been making for about 12 years now. It's one of those classic recipes your family knows, loves and can't get enough of. I started to make it for one reason; to use up the cereal left in the bottom of the packages that never seems to get eaten. And because the kids loved them so much we've been making them ever since. I went on a diet once. It was what I call 'A Bad Time'.I wasn't that overweight but I was developing a middle tyre (which to be honest is prevalent in my family - it's the family shape - so if genetics says this is gonna happen, how can I possibly fight it?) so set about making my diet slightly healthier. Exercise was, at the time, out of the question, so out was to go sugar, potato, rice, pasta and bread. HAHAHAHAHA. Have you ever tried not eating those five? Leaving aside breakfast for the minute, what do you possibly eat for lunch if not a sandwich? What hellish universe has the concept of no: mash, boiled potatoes, roast potatoes, potato gratin, chips, curry, chilli con carne, lasagne, spaghetti bolagnese or tuna pasta bake for dinner? For breakfast there's obviously quite a choice. Nestle and Kellogg's seem to have cornered the market on dietary breakfast. I stood perusing the shelves. I glanced at my beloved Frosties, the gorgeous Honey Monster on Sugar Poofs, the only two c
