With more and more films being hauled up in local courts, Bollywood producers are questioning the sanctity of the censor certificate.The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has written to the ministry saying the government should ensure that if a film gets certified by the censor board then nobody should be allowed to challenge the film. The Australian Government is at it again, making up ridiculous bills that take our rights away as citizens piece by precious piece. Gizmodo has a short article about a patent that was recently filed about a Personal TV Censor. They were responding to an article on Arstechnica about it. Gizmodo has it's pluses, but one thing that bothers me about the site is their use of foul language. I even wrote the editor a couple of months ago about it, and I received a polite response about how the idea of blogging is the freedom of speech. I don't think having a potty mouth is justified in the name of "freedom of speech". It doesn't add value to the article or review. And if anything, it takes away from it. Sounds like Google is catching some heat for their refusal to pull down some allegedly racist blogs on their services.  They are claiming they won’t do it without a court order. Good. It’s not the place of a hosting company to decide which content they agree with or which they might find offensive.  Free speech trumps hate speech.  As pointed out in one of the Slashdot comments, racist speech can be countered with other speech.  Censorship can’t be countered. As a footnote, this is the first time I’ve seen a story on Slashdot in a long time that hadn’t been beaten to death in the blogosphere over the previous few days.

Less than 24 hours after posting an archive of the Muhammad cartoons, the Photo hosting service Photobucket has for the first time ever on Bagelblogger removed 15 images..... 2 images were stills from the Danish videos that show Muhammad depictions. One as Mohammad as a camel with beer cans for humps, the other a turbaned head next to an atomic blast. 14 images were 'those' Muhammad cartoon images.
