Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is the ideal urban dog. It is friendly, sporting, adaptable and prone to medical problems. The affable and energetic Cavalier is justifiably popular, partly because it is so accommodating to our moods. A Cavaliar is willing to curl up on a sofa in bad weather, but equally eager to walk and run for miles when the occasion arises. However, increasing demand for the dog has led to intensive in-beeding, which has caused substantial increases in lethal heart conditions. The life expectancy of affected dogs is reduced from 14 to just 9 years.
