The Proenza Schouler sping 2008 collection for was all about the Safari look. The collection was filled with military inspired jackets and vests in neutral and muted colors. It was all about layering vests in different shades and accessories. The masculine collection was balanced by the full 'ice skating' skirts. As Liis and Diane point out - they are there because the designers samples are made to fit them. 'Strengthening the fashion industry by broading its foundations is the answer.'The website contains a number of resources for companies, shops, designers and the general public to use as a guide to start making those small steps needed to change the stereotypes.There is a long way to go before the industry will accept such a change, however with the growing number of specialist sites such as Curvety.com now available we are definitely heading in the right direction of size acceptance for all.

I am not sure if I really consider Jenna a “celebrity” but heck, we all know who she is and here she is on the red carpet looking rather odd. Once again I must say that Jenna has progressively had her face worked on to the point that she looks plain weird. Her lips are so plumped and her cheecks look stiff and empty, strange combination. In the side picture her adams apple is popping out a little. Last thing I want to see on a woman.

MILAN (Reuters) - The Italian fashion capital Milan has formally barred ultra-skinny and under-age models ahead of its February catwalk shows, as the fashion world comes under pressure to promote a healthier image. The agreement signed on Monday between the city and its powerful fashion industry bans models under 16 and those with a body mass index of less than 18.5 from Milan's shows. The accord also includes courses on healthy eating and exercise and calls for a variety of clothing sizes in shows. "The agreement is the result of a common effort ... to share and to communicate to our young people the importance of positive models of living," Milan mayor Letizia Moratti said in a statement. Body mass index is the ratio of weight to the square of height -- so that a 1.73 m (5 foot 8 inch) model who weighed less than 55.4 kg (122 lb) would be barred. Heatherette 2007 Spring Fashion Show (source)To me, the Heatherette show reminds me of a few things:1) The Heatherette boys went crazy with the Barbie clothing weaving looms. Remember those kits you could get that had the pink circular looms, and you could create sparkly knit leggings for your Barbie dolls? Yeah, that's what this line reminds me of, but add some hot glue gunned buttons and accessories from the craft store, circa 1989.2) This season, "Gaudy" is the new Boho-chic: Gold lame puff jackets? Unnecessary chest harnesses? Fur in surprising places? Elvis' long lost poncho? Yes please!3) Elizabeth Taylor's closet vomited.Isn't fashion week grand? In all honesty, I was disappointed by Heatherette's total lack of imagination in their new line...there isn't one wearable item that you could just throw on with a pair of jeans and have your best friend covet.
