Why Can’t The Church Get Serious On Pro-Abortion Catholic Politicians?
Last month in Kansas, the state legislature overwhelmingly passed HS SB 389, the Comprehensive Abortion Reform Act. But that act met the veto of Democratic Governor Kathleen Sebelius, a practicing Roman Catholic. The Kansas State Legislature tried to override the veto, but the state Senate’s attempt failed by merely two votes. In response, Archbishop [...]

The Roman Catholic Church is Dying (Part 2)
I have written before about how the Roman Catholic church threw away the jewel in their liturgical crown with the abolition of the Tridentine Latin Mass. Well everything is evolutionary and I guess this is the natural result of Rock Masses and liberal charismatics. This is how a religion commits suicide, or should it be [...]

      Hudson Catholic will remain open
In perhaps the most stunning and quickest turn around ever in Catholic education, officials announced tonight that Hudson Catholic High School, originally scheduled to close in June, will instead remain open, because the school's alumni have raised more than $500,000 in pledges in the last 2 1/2 weeks. They needed to raise $400,000 in that time frame, and they surpassed the imposed archdiocesan goal by more than $100,000.Congratulations to everyone involved. What an incredible effort by everyone.

Hudson Catholic alum: 'Very positive message to share' tomorrow
I received this e-mail today from an alumnus in the Keep Hudson Catholic Open group on Facebook — and it looks like there could be a good announcement about the school's future coming tomorrow. Here's the text of the e-mail — and I'll let you know if I hear anything more on the situation.“I just spoke to an alumnus that is working very hard to keep the school open. He told me that a core group of alumni had a meeting yesterday with representatives of the archdiocese. Coming out of the meeting, they have a very positive message to share with all of us.That is why we are all invited to a gathering/rally at Hudson Catholic's gym tomorrow night (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. At that time, the exact details of our situation will be announced. This alumnus told me to end the message with this: HAWKS

      Catholic Charities & Catholic Medals
Traditionally, a charitable trust is any kind of a private, non-profit, philanthropic, human health and welfare organization. They are mostly found in the fields of education, religion, health, wealth, government or any other areas that benefit communities. Nonprofit organizations work for the benefit of human welfare, and do not make a personal profit.Catholic charities are charitable trusts run mainly by the Catholic church. These charities work to improve the living conditions of the poor people. Needy people are treated with equal love and care, irrespective of their religion, sex, age, race, color, or origin. These charities try to provide steady employment with good wages for people who need the jobs. They try to protect the people from racial discriminations and prejudices. Since th

They're getting even closer to their goal at Hudson Catholic
Received this e-mail today from the Hudson Catholic Alumni Association, and thought I'd share it with you below. They're still in need of donations, though they're much closer than they were even yesterday. It's amazing what a little work can do. The shame of it all is that the school officials who were responsible for fundraising couldn't do what a group of alums are doing — in just two weeks! At any rate, here's the e-mail. Want to help? Log on to www.HudsonCatholic.org.We're doing great. Over $298,000 pledged as of tonight. We need to keep pushing though. Goodness to Hudson Catholic alums: Sorry, you only have until May 7, not three weeks, that's always been the case, and too bad otherwise
When alumni of Hudson Catholic High School got together last week to discuss the possibility of saving the school, many were pleased when they were told by archdiocesan officials they’d have three weeks to come up with a substantial amount of pledged money to keep the place open. But, according to today’s Jersey Journal, apparently in the eyes of the Archdiocese of Newark, three weeks actually translates into two weeks and two days. The Journal reports alumni received a note from the archdiocese setting a fundraising deadline of May 7. Do the math, and May 7 is two weeks, two days after the so-called three-week deadline. What this writer is trying to decide is whether the two-week, two day deadline rather than a three-week deadline is more insulting, or whether James Goodness, archdioces

Did the Catholic Church Kill Jesus?
Yea, you read that right. I recently received a request to respond to the following argument:"Correct me if I am wrong: was it not a Roman Emperor that sentenced Christ to death on Calvary? Now for the serious question: if I am correct, which I may not be, but if I am, then would that not make the Emperor an Italian? Now, why are they making such a positive thing about the head of the church, which is an offshoot of the old Roman Empire, with headquarters in Rome, being here celebrating the death of the Lord? I know that the Lord rose from the dead and is alive according to gospel, but all the same they are the ones who sentenced him to death, and now they make themselves out the lord of lords. Just seems strange to me that they can celebrate the Pope this way and still preach the very wor

      Hudson Catholic has hope
Who says protests don't work anymore? At a meeting tonight at Hudson Catholic High School, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark told alumni and parents they had three weeks to come up with a fundraising plan to help keep the school office. And, it was also noted there is a chance the school could go co-ed after the upcoming school year. This is great news for the kids and alums of Hudson. It's unfortunate the alumni association has to do the work school officials should have been doing in fundraising, but it's a small victory nonetheless. As information becomes available, we'll be sure to share it with you.

The disgraceful act of closing Hudson Catholic
“If St. X were to remain open, we’d need to have more than X new students enroll, and we’d have to raise tuition by $X thousands. That simply wasn’t feasible. And it’s a sad day for Catholic education. Unfortunately, given the circumstances, we were left with no other choice to close the school, but we’ll do everything within our power to ensure the students have a chance to continue with a quality Catholic education elsewhere. We’ll also be working to place the teachers at other Catholic schools.”The quote above this paragraph must be written somewhere on Archdiocese of Newark Spokesman Jim Goodness’ computer in the chancery. CATHOLIC FACT VS FICTION
Fiction: The Catholic church is always against the death penalty.Fact: Utter nonsense. The Catholic Church's support for the death penalty, under certain circumstances, can be found right in the pages of the Catechism of the Catholic church.2267 Assuming that the guilty party's identity andresponsibility have been fully determined, the traditional teaching of theChurch does not exclude recourse to the death penalty, if this is the onlypossible way of effectively defending human lives against the unjust aggressor. If, however, non-lethal means are sufficient to defend and protect people'ssafety from the aggressor, authority will limit itself to such means, as theseare more in keeping with the concrete conditions of the common good and are morein conformity to the dignity of the human person.

      Catholic Pilgrimages
A pilgrimage is any religiously motivated trip to some site which is regarded as sacred or otherwise religiously significant. Common sites for pilgrimages are those associated with saints, their relics, or other important religious figures. The term "pilgrimage" comes from the Latin peregrinus, which means "foreigner."Catholic Pilgrimages were first made to sites connected with the birth, life, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Surviving descriptions of Christian pilgrimages to the Holy Land date from the 4th century, when pilgrimage was encouraged by church fathers like Saint Jerome. Pilgrimages also began to be made to Rome and other sites associated with the Apostles, Saints and Christian martyrs, as well as to places where there have been apparitions of the Virgin Mary. The second

THE VICAR OF CHRIST THE POPE is referred to as “Holy Father”, acting on behalf of God. As Mel Gibson once stated, when the Pope speaks from “the chair” it is the voice of God. The Pope also bears the title “Vicar of Christ”. Vicar meaning “substitute”. The Pope claims to be “the substitute of Jesus Christ.” Jesus Christ is the “head of the Church” (Eph. 5v23) - therefore the Catholic Catechism states: “For the Roman Pontiff, by reason of his office as Vicar of Christ and as pastor of the entire Church has full, supreme, and universal power over the whole Church, a power which he can always exercise unhindered.” [1] Matthew chapter 23 verse 9 quickly demolishes the “Holy Father&#

INTERMISSION: CATHOLIC BLOG AWARDS? WHAT THE...
Well, after two to three weeks with the entire household being down with the flu, everyone's finally managed to get back on their feet and I can get back to regular blogging. And it's good timing because the time has come to cast some important votes. No, I'm not talking about that dog and pony show with Hillary and Obama, I'm talking about The 2008 Catholic Blog Awards. While casting my own votes for some of the excellent blogs you see listed over in the sidebar, imagine my surprise to run across my own meager efforts as one of the nominees for Most Informative & Insightful Blog. A definite "What the... !!!" moment. Now I'm not even going to pretend I have a chance of winning, but I have to admit I kind of get a kick out of the idea that this bizarre little corner of the

      Catholic Lose Big, Hold Steady
On the Pew U.S. Religious Landscape Survey, 3The Roman Catholic Church has been the largest denomination in the United States for five generations. Catholics make up about a quarter of the population. Yet the Catholic Church shows huge losses over a lifetime in the new Pew survey. Asking adults what religion they are now, and what they claimed as a child, the RCs show a 24% loss. Yet they remain nearly a quarter of the population. How is that possible? Part of the answer is conversion. While 7.5% of the population reports that they once were Catholics but now are not, another 2.9% of the population made the shift the other way, making up almost 40% of the loss. The other part of the answer is immigration. Almost half of all immigrants are Catholic. Immigrants make up nearly a qua

The Catholic Blog Awards is now accepting nominations for Catholic blogs in several categories.Orson Scott Card says sf writers will receive only ire and detestation if they plug themselves for awards, and so even though self-promotion is more acceptable in the blogosphere, I will adhere to Card's advice and refrain from saying anything about the Catholic Blog Awards beyond this: I encourage you to go to the website, linked here, and nominate whatever Catholic blogs you like.

It is proven that Catholics are true follower of Jesus. They follow all teaching lesion of Jesus They seek forgiveness of their sins and follow the example and teaching of Jesus.
