Según me entero en mi RSS oficial de ATI, AMD ya libero por fin la versión 7.11 de sus controladores de video, ya veremos las mejoras que tiene, por que del dicho al hecho hay mucho trecho..

Esta es la primera versión que incluye AIGLX (Accelerated Indirect GLX) para las tarjetas graficas con procesadores ATI, haciendo ahora que los usuarios de Linux puedan disfrutar de mejores gráficos tridimensionales en el escritorio 3D Compiz… además permite un OpenGL más acelerado.
También con mejoras en el rendimiento de los juegos OpenGL como es el caso de los juegos Doom 3 y Quake 4.
Según AMD el rendimiento se verá en las ATI Radeon X1000, X800, X700, X550/X300, 9800, 9700, 9600 y 9500 Series.

There’s some new Catalyst Drivers (7.10) at AMD’s site.. To begin with, the new catalyst driver will have Adaptive Anti-Aliasing enabled for Radeon X1000 series of graphics cards. This release of Catalyst™ also introduces software CrossFire™ support for the ATI Radeon™ HD 2600 Series and ATI Radeon™ HD 2400 Series.
Also, one pretty important fix with this release of Catalyst drivers is the “CrossFire Undo”. There was an issue where CrossFire mode would disable on its own, even if everything was ok. Now, the drivers would detect if something is wrong with the CrossFire cable, and if everything is ok, Crossfire mode will be activated.

Ever since I installed this updated version of ATI Catalyst Display drivers, i have been plagued by this terrible menace. The “ATI Catalyst Control Center” is the first item that pops up on my context menu. This can be really frustrating, especially for geeks who is so much adapted with the keystrokes for File>New.
Here’s a neat way to remove the item from the context menu for good.
Open regedit and goto
KEY_CLASSES_ROOTDirectoryBackgroundshellexContextMenuHandlersACE
and remove the key named “ACE”. And voila… dilemma solved
