After a not-so-fun-fun-fun-fest and a canceled show, Cat Power had some making up to do on this visit back to Austin to make good on her reschedule. I'll save you a little suspense: she made up good.
A few numbers off Jukebox and an apology served to clear the lingering air of the past. Whether they were as concern

Cat Power - Wonderwall (Elements
Oasis’ “Wonderwall” is one of the greatest songs of all-time. It was thought that the song was written about Noel Gallagher’s then girlfriend Meg Matthews. Noel refuted it by saying “The meaning of that song was taken away from me by the media who jumped on it. And how do you tell your Mrs. it’s [...]

Cat PowerShepherds Bush Empire, LondonSunday 27th JanuaryYou don’t quite know what to expect from Cat Power. She never seems sure what to expect from herself. Tonight, she is an intoxicating mix of alluring emotion, kooky elusiveness and vocal presence. The start is pedestrian as she pitter-patters onstage, suitably understated in waistcoat and jeans. Her four-piece band, The Dirty Delta Blues, are restless, a note shy, a foot wrong. ‘Metal Heart’ simmers by, adequate but uninspired; Cat saunters, comfortably subdued. It takes the contiguous charm of ‘Dark End Of The Street’ to pierce the normality of the show, coaxing a quivering croon from Cat and sparking her into newfound theatrical interaction.Suddenly, the crowd is laughing at her exaggerated cockney impressions, swooning at

Right...I'm taking a considerably more gonzo take on this reviewing lark today. Seeing as it's been a difficult few weeks and the amount of work i've got done ranges from managing to get out of bed to buying bogof pizzas at the repulsive sainsbury's down the road, I'm amazed I'm doing anything mildly productive. Do forgive me.Anyway...this gig happened in lovely Kentish Town not eleven days ago. It was ten days ago. I wasn't going, I had two enormous law exams the following day. But Cat Power does own a voice so hauntingly soothing I thought it could be therapeutic.Having met my brother's charming fiance in a place called Harrow-On-The-Hill...(I know, I didn't think that was a real place either) I trundled alone down the Tube to meet Mr Sean. Durkin, fellow connoisseur of Cat Power's blissful blues.Upon arrival a young lady from Brooklyn, New York decided to engage me in conversation. It was fun, she talked funny. Then, to our amusement, the back door opened where three group
