If there was a reason to dust off your Nintendo DS, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is probably a good one. Even though the game really doesn’t introduce anything mind blowing, it will work for the time being. Great or “just average”, this game is certainly on my Fall wish list.

The game's English script has been re-translated and re-recorded with new voice acting. The prologue text is slightly altered and is narrated by a voice over. The game has the option of using the original Japanese voices. Some enemy voices, such as Axe Lord and Medusa, were not redubbed and retain their original Japanese voices on both language settings. There are also some subtle changes to item and enemy descriptions, and the Librarian's bestiary has been reorganized.

My personal review and some players' thoughts:Have you ever loved Castlevania? Then this is the one for you =)The main body of this UMD is a remake of the never-released-on-US-soil Rondo of Blood. Graphically, it is impressive, and plays well, but it is not the best part of Dracula X. Finding the Symphony of the Night unlockable on level 3, is the highlight. For those who are unfamailiar, Symphony of the Night, is arguably the best Castlevania ever. It mixes RPG elements in a fast paced 2d adventure game. There is a massive amount of unlockables, not to mention a very crazy mid point in the game that will turn your world upside down. The unlockable for the original Rondo of Blood can also be found later in the game as well. I personally don't like the gameplay of Rondo and its remake, but

Neca recently announced a Comic-Con exclusive Simon Belmont “figure” that’s pretty interesting:
What’s great about Simon is that he’s a semi-3D representation of his classic 8 bit persona. There’s only going to be one thousand of these three inch figures made, so if you’re a huge Castlevania nut get a connection with someone going to the convention.
Yeah, I really don’t have a lot to say about this except to point and say, “Look. Neat.”

The legendary PC Engine action game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, is a lost chapter never seen before outside of Japan, is reborn on the PSP. The remake titled Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for PSP gives the 1993 classic 3D graphics and goes back to the side scrolling gameplay. Gamers take up the Vampire Killer whip as Richter Belmont as they seek to destroy the maniacal Dracula.
Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles also includes unlockable versions of the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night games, which is a pretty sweet deal to get those two of the most beloved video games of all time updated for a new generation of gamers. The American release date is on September 11th, 2007.

Over on NECA’s MySpace page they put up some new images of their Castlevania figure series, which is in the making. The one I particularly like is Allucard:
Allucard is the star of one of the greatest games of all time, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. If you have never played it, do so. Seek out a copy of the PS1 version or download it on the XBox Live marketplace (if it’s available, I haven’t fired up my 360 in awhile) and start playing it right now. SOTN is one of three games I can blame my particularly low first couple of years worth of bad grades in college… okay it was really laziness, but it’s just easier to blame video games.

So does the "Best Castlevania of all time" stand the test of time? Of course it does! Castlevania Symphony of the night is better than ever in $10 downloadable form. In fact, my favorite feature of the game is the ability to sit on my couch and switch to Castlevania for some exploring without...

Imagine for a moment that you’re the magical whip-wielding scion of an ancient family of warriors against evil. You can jump so high you’re basically flying, you can easily swing massive swords the size and weight of motorcycles, and – as if this all weren’t enough – you have at your disposal a number of paranormal powers. Now imagine further that the year is 1944, you are in central Europe, and looking to kill someone evil. Any ideas about who you’d like to go after? Yes, me too: Dracula. But if for some reason he weren’t available? Then probably you’d want to go after some other vampire, but more obscure, someone you’d never heard of, right? Like the great, evil Brauner?
It’s hard to blame Konami for worrying that we’re bored with laying low the same undead Transylvania aristocrat over and over. But going after the previously unknown Brauner – who in the game has staged some sort of vampire coup against Dracula and taken over his castle – seemed lik

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is the first major console classic to come to the Xbox Live Arcade (the press release says so), and will be on sale this Wednesday for a cool 800 MS Points.

Castlevania is an epic video game franchise and each new iteration is a solid entry into the series (minus the 3D ones). Almost every Castlevania fan points to Symphony of the Night as the pinnacle of the series, though Aria of Sorrow or even Dawn of Sorrow both approached excellence. For me the two best Castlevania games were Symphony of the Night for Sega Saturn (yes I had that obscure system) aka Nocturne in the Moonlight and Circle of the Moon for GBA. Circle of the Moon is by no means the best GBA Castlevania, but it did surprise me, impress me, entice me…and ultimately sold me on the Gameboy Advance as a system. Well, I should probably add Portrait of Ruin to that list because although it doesn't feel as new and great as the 2 Castlevania's that really won me over to the series, it really offers way more as far as game length, characters, modes, etc. So to end the ranting and really get to the summary of the review: Castlevania Portrait of Ruin doesn't surprise, offers so
