Ho sempre trovato utili le audiocassette: se non fosse stato per loro non avrei potuto ascoltare e riascoltare cose tipo i tedeschi "Troya" e gli "Yatha Sidhra", o i messicani "La Revoluciòn de Emiliano Zapata" per citarne solo qualcuno. I miei amici collezionisti, con il portafoglio più gonfio del mio, me li passavano e li riversavo sulle mitiche TDK e Sony e me li godevo così.Poi hanno cominciato a ristampare un sacco di rarità su CD e allora le cose sono cambiate: quello pseudo disco che non aveva nulla degli affascinanti album con il vinile, ti permetteva perlomeno di ascoltare rock di cui avevi sentito parlare, ma non avevi mai potuto ascoltare.Per contro non ho mai amato le compilations o i "Best of": al limite qualche mix me lo facevo io, con i pezzi che preferivo in quel moment
Wie früher…naja, fast. Man holt sich die teure Chromdioxid-Cassette, hocke sich mit derselben im Schacht stundenlang vor das Radio und hoffe darauf, gute Mucke aufnehmen zu können (wobei das in den 80ern kein Problem war, da lief ja fast nur gute Mucke!).
Als ich noch keinen Radiorecorder besass, musste ich das mit Microphon, welches an den Lautsprecher gehalten wurde, bewerkstelligen. Die Flüche, wenn irgendein Geräusch um mich herum entstand, wurden automatisch mit aufgezeichnet. Habe aber alle wieder gelöscht und bedauert, nicht alle aus dem Wohnzimmer aussperren zu können, solang Formel Eins lief.

As far as people of a certain age are concerned – and that very much includes myself – it is sobering to think that there are younger people out there who have never actually either used or ever even owned a cassette tape, but for those of us who experienced this particular, somewhat temperamental storage medium you may well be interested in taking a trip down memory lane whist spotting all the cassettes you may have owned.

TapeDeck.Org offers beautifully laid out imagery of cassette tapes from the like of BASF, TDK, Sony and Maxell to name but a few and it certainly brings the memories flooding back. Who can possibly forget the hours spent trying to unravel caught tapes from the pinch rollers of the cassette decks before winding it all back in with a pencil or, in worse case scenarios, taking out the tiny screws from the plastic shell in a desperate attempt to find just where in the reel the tape has become folded.

Disjointed and disorientating, Excepter’s drum machines and samples float and dissipate through out the performances as moans and howls further emphasize the beautiful electronic miasma. These are great recordings, Excepter are making the most challenging and uncompromising electronic music today by subverting the forms and history of late 20th century electronic music. The future is here, and it’s boring as hell. Web sites used to be pages of text, linked to other pages of text. Then they added images, and that was cool. Before you knew it, we had web sites that weren’t ‘static’ but ‘dynamic’. Changing, exciting, multimedia. Then the multimedia split into audio and video that were content pieces in their own right, ‘new media’ if you will, like a podcast. But if you cut through the hype, a podcast is no more dynamic than those first web pages full of text. Even worse, really, because they’re not linked to anything.

Certaines personnes se mettent en avant en disant qu'elles pourraient décrocher la lune alors qu'en général elle s'achète ce qui est surprenant c'est de l'acheter avec ces cassettes VHS mais ça c'est un autre débat et puis après tout ça dépend de ce qu'il y a sur la cassette VHS. Je me demande s'il est possible d'acheter la lune en DVD logiquement il faudrait moins de DVD que de cassettes VHS pour acheter la lune mais alors il faudrait découper les DVD et ça devient compliqué.
J'ai envie de m'acheter un Polaroid j'ai vu de belles choses sur polanoid mais j'ai déjà fait le coup avec un Lomo j'ai un peu joué avec et j'ai laissé tomber. Paradoxalement avec le prix des films on a pas envie de gâcher et on réfléchit à mort avant de prendre des photos avec un Polaroid ne serait-ce pas un peu l'inverse de ce qu'on faisait dans le temps la vie nous joue de drôles de tours quand même.
