Gas Prices Finally Impact US Car Sales
More on the better side of record gas pricesFor some reason pickup trucks and SUVs have rooted themselves in American culture. Apparently they serve as symbols for strength, power, durability and more values that are held dear to many Americans.I’ve read somewhere the pickup serves as the modern horse, keeping the old west’s heritage alive. With all due respect to culture it seems more and mor

Wary shoppers’ confidence, car sales take dive
U.S. consumers continued to clamp down on spending on new cars and trucks in March, as their confidence in the economy dipped to its lowest level since the invasion of Iraq in March 2003. They were more than assisted in their restraint by banks, which have made it increasingly difficult to get auto loans — especially for customers with marginal credit — as the nation simultaneously battles woes in the housing, credit and energy sectors. In the end, Americans bought just 1.35 million new vehicles last month, a decline of 12% from a year ago. That translated into an annual selling rate of 15.1 million cars and trucks — an extremely soft kickoff for the spring selling season that left some wondering whether the economy had yet hit bottom or was still getting worse. “I&

Car sales gear up in small cities
It seems that B and C cities are emerging as profitable markets for car companies in the last year. The rising income and easy accessibility to loans have been largely responsible for driving car sales upwards in these cities. As metros have been are soon going to become a stagnant market, it makes sense that car manufacturers look for cities other than metros. Most of these car buyers in these cities are first time car owners and obviously go for entry level cars. It is believed that Hyundai accounts 40 per cent of its sales including small cars and luxury cars are in cities other than the metros and six big cities in India. And the most popular models have been Santro and i10.

      Car Sales Lingo
This is just a car buying tip 101. When the salesperson says, how much can you afford per month? This should put up a red flag in your mind as the saleperson is getting you to commit to a number and then they are going to push you up on that number.Customer "I cannot go over $300 a month."Salesperson: "ok, so if i find you a car you love for less than "$350 per monthwe would be good."Customer "well i guess if i loved the car that would be ok"NO, NO--Stick to your guns, if you go in with the intention of a $300 car note, stick to it. You just gave that saleperson a reason to find a car $3000 more than what you were looking for. If this dealership cannot help you out, there are thousands of other dealerships out there more than willing to help.As a salesperson, we were taught all kinds of leading questions that would lead a customer down the road to a sell and make more money with these leading questions. Just stop and think about what you are being asked! Be smart and dont get pulled in

Daily Podcast: Will Luxury Car Sales Suck?
Rising U.S. gas prices and the American mortgage meltdown has hit sales of new vehicles hard. In terms of the product mix, a lot of ink has been expended on the rapid, ongoing transition from gas-guzzling SUVs to more miserly models-- a change that's hurt the truck-heavy domestics particularly hard. There's been something of a presumption that luxury and near-luxury brands are safe from the tumbleweeds blowing through mass market showrooms. Marketing Daily reveals that it ain't necessarily so. "Recent years represented a boom-time for American investors and the luxury marketers that filled their homes with Lexus SUVs, Rolex timepieces and Coach handbags. Now, the net worth of even wealthy Americans is dipping as real estate prices slump and stock portfolios sag. And, as
