Marvel is rolling out several one-shot special issues under the banner of Captain America: Theater of War. These issues are designed to give supply the reader with Golden Age tales of Captain America and his missions during World War II. I dig the idea of further fleshing out Cap’s history, but I was hesitant to purchase any of these issues since I already am overrun with buying so many Secret I
Now that Brubaker’s monster story arc involving Lukin/Red Skull has concluded, I am curious to see what Brubaker has in store for us next. I enjoy Bucky as Captain America and I am looking forward to getting to see Bucky finally accepting his destiny and embracing his role as Captain America. I am confident that Captain America #43 will be a quality read. Let’s go ahead and hit this review.

As I’m scouting for info to talk about, all that’s around right now, so far, are boring casting info, either the project ain’t interesting or the people involved are not worth anybody’s breath. Paramount Pictures has signed a deal with Marvel Entertainment to distribute the studio’s next five self-produced film projects: Iron Man 2 (May 7, 2010) Thor (July 16, 2010) The First Avenger: Captain America (May 6, 2011) The Avengers (July 15, 2011) Iron Man 3 (Date Not Yet Announced) The deal is an extension of the original agreement for Iron Man, and includes worldwide distribution.
Brubaker’s Captain America is one of Marvel’s best titles. Brubaker has done a masterful job with the current story arc. Captain America #42 is the finale to Brubaker’s current story involving Red Skull/Lukin and Kronas. There is no doubt in my mind that Brubaker is going to deliver a fantastic ending with Captain America #42. Let’s do this review.

The Revolution is a big fan of Brubaker’s Captain America. This current story arc has been wonderfully crafted and we are rapidly heading toward the conclusion. Captain America #41 is the penultimate issue of this story arc so I expect Brubaker to crank out a gem of an issue that has plenty of unexpected twists and turns. Let’s go ahead and hit the review for Captain America #41.Creative TeamW

If ever there was a comic book movie just begging to be remade, Albert Pyun's hypnotically awful 1990 superhero blunder Captain America is it. Powered by a script laden with peculiar dialogue and serious leaps in logic, this devastatingly poor adaptation of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby's iconic series offers little in the way of intentional entertainment, especially

The Revolution always enjoys the newest issue of Captain America. Brubaker is remarkably consistent on this title. There are several news reports flying around that say Leonardo Dicaprio will be playing Captain America...If he cant star as Captain America, then they want Brad Pitt. This reminds me of the Leo playing a Jedi in the Star Wars prequels rumor. I just cant see this movie working with him.

A few days ago, there’s an info that states that THE INCREDIBLE HULK director Louis Leterrier said that Captain America shows up in the movie, even though I saw it at a screening and didn’t spot the man with the shield, not even once. Maybe I wasn’t looking carefully.

There were rumours that Captain America would make a cameo in The Incredible Hulk, just like his shield did in Iron Man. However, it now appears that it was cut, along with 70 minutes of footage.

I saw the movie THE INCREDIBLE HULK at a test screening and everybody there came out satisfied because the movie was simply…incredible. Apparently a big pile of media types got to sit in with Kevin Feige and chatting worked its way around to questions about Marvel Films. Captain America is arguably the best title that Marvel publishes. The Revolution has continually trumpeted Brubaker’s impressive work on this title. It defies any and all common sense that titles like New Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man and the Ultimates 3 that aren’t a tenth of the quality of Captain America still post larger sales numbers. Michael Scheuer Michael Scheuer's new book “Marching Toward Hell: America and Islam After Iraq” (364 pages. Free Press. $27) gives us a dire portrait of the future of the United States and our chances of winning the so-called “war on terrorism." Scheuer, who wrote “Imperial Hubris,” blames just about everybody that held a White House position over the last 35 years for the disastrous and tragic position the United States is in today, according to this review in the New York Times. What I find fascinating, although not surprising in the least, is that most US presidents since Gerald Ford insisted on putting the issue of Arab/Muslim terrorism in the context of the cold war. George Bush, in particular, usually applied the fight against terrorists the same way we approached the batt

After a few false starts, I think I've finally found a good jumping-on point for this universally-acclaimed series. I've bought a few issues here and there in the past year after the inundation of hype and awards, and they all just kind of left me blank. But this one's good enough, I think, to finally get me to add it to my pull list. If only it had Steve Rogers still. I mean, what kind of name is "Bucky" anyway? "My name's Bucky, and I'm here to rescue you." Doesn't exactly instill a lot of confidence. But I digress.
I bitch and moan–frequently, whenever I get the chance–about Ed Brubaker's pseudo-six issue arcs at Marvel. They might even say one of six, or one of five, but they're really one of twelve or one of ten. So I knew going in to these issues of Captain America, Brubaker was going to cliffhang (this time it's a little more honest, because a collection was solicited as the first part of the story, not its own thing).
I also make broad statements about Brubaker's best Marvel work (it's the second Criminal arc), but… finally.. Brubaker's turned in six excellent Captain America issues in a row. The trick? Get rid of Steve Rogers. Brubaker runs these issues like a novel of a certain type (you know, The Godfather maybe), lots of characters doing lots of things other characters don't know or do know they are doing. It's big and thick and Brubaker develops as it goes along and it is, truly, a very artistic approach to a superhero melodrama. See, Brubaker never re
Wolverine Origins had me excited for a while. Then I heard that Marvel was teaming up a storyline where Captain America and Wolverine meet and do battle! I was overjoyed when I saw the first preview covers, as I am a big fan of Wolverine and the Captain, but this was just sad. The front cover of the latest edition of Wolverine Origins is so rad, it has a great artistic feel to it, then it drops off into some cell shaded, nine year old cartoon that leaves very little value to the art and story presented there in. See, it's not that I hate Marvel, I really love comic books but the artwork is as key to me as the story line. I love the idea of Wolverine and Captain America battling it out, but I am not a fan of the juxtaposition of the cover art and interiors. They are night and day, that's just not right, it's just bad.If you're a fan of Wolverine Origins, or you haven't really read the stories, you can pick it up Here, for a few bucks, but it's really taking a downward spira
For those who take interest in comic book movie adaptations, that's surely got to be something to wonder. Quality of scriptwriting surely has to be the most important part of all, but I guess marketing plays a part in this too! As far as I know, Paramount is said to have a Cap film project in the works for 2009, but, here's where the problem comes in: thinking back on the same studio's decision
There’s news about the upcoming Star Trek movie, primarily involving casting. John Cho will play Sulu and Simon Pegg will play Scotty. Chris Pine has been offered the role of James Kirk. Eric Bana will play a villain named Nero. MovieHole reports that the movie has a budget of in the neighborhood of $150-160 million.
The Trek Movie Report has additional information in an interview with Star Trek co-writer and executive producer Roberto Orci which doesn’t reveal much about the plot but gives some indication as to how the movie will fit into Star Trek canon. There have been conflicting stories as to whether William Shatner will appear as an older Kirk. Part of this depends upon whether they can get around the problem that his character was killed. As of the time of this interview it appears that this remains up in the air.
TrekMovie.com: Speaking of captains I have one more casting question which is burning in the minds of many Trekkies…what about Shatner?

What's this here? David Morrell, the author who'd created Rambo, is writing some kind of miniseries about Captain America ("The Chosen") as seen through the eyes of a soldier in Afghanistan, and which, yes, does appear to be just a flashback story. But there's at least two reasons to keep expectations on this to minimum: one, because Morrell may be chummy with Max Allan Collins, who if memory serves, supported the anti-American steps taken with Cap a few years ago by writing an introduction to the trade paperback of the Marvel Knights series at the time in which he attacked "jingoism". And two, because this miniseries, just like the Marvel Knights series, seems to put Cap into real life settings in ways that could trivialize the tragedies in real life:Another unique element of Morrell's Captain America story is the story's setting. "My story could have happened anytime after 9-11 because there are a lot of references to 9-11," Morrell said. "There are pictures of the Cole after th
After X-MEN, Hulk and Spiderman, Iron Man was the latest Marvel’s Movie adapted from it’s comic. This movie itself can be enjoyed next year (2008). Then, Captain America take turn to Movie theater.
Kevin Folge as President of Production from Marvel Studios, told that he’s already got a script-writer to start to work on this movie and he also hoped to find the right director for this movie soon.

Even superheros have to apologize if they misbehave. If you missed the original story a doctor dressed as Captain America groped some woman. He was arrested in full costume and charged with misdemeanor battery, disorderly conduct, possession and resisting. He has agreed to apologize to the woman in hopes that he won’t have to stand trial. I wonder if he has to apologize in costume?

You know, given the font and the color of the font, no one should have been surprised what "The Death of the Dream" meant. It's on the bottom of the last page of #24 and it's damned obvious.Anyway, the "Drums of War" Civil War tie-in arc in Captain America is, consistently, Brubaker's best work on the series. Why? Because there's two things going on in each issue--the tie-in stuff and the stuff Brubaker's doing in Captain America. The Captain America stuff has mostly to do with Nick Fury and the Red Skull, the Civil War stuff has mostly to do with how a couple of Cap's friends are dealing with Civil War. While the "all therapy" #22 is sort of goofy in that aspect (especially since Peter David does it so much better in X-Factor), the Bucky and Nick Fury #23 is awesome and so is the Cap-centered #24.I didn't read Civil War except in the store, paging through it, or reading some of the funny online rewrites. My question, besides why isn't Captain America always this good (the answ

Captain America Arrested For Allegedly Groping Women APRIL 24--Meet Dr. Raymond Adamcik. The Florida man, dressed as Captain America and with a burrito stuffed in his tights, was arrested Saturday night for allegedly groping women at a Melbourne bar. Adamcik was part of a pub crawl in which participants wore costumes. While at the On Tap bar, Adamcik, 54, allegedly touched the genital areas of two women, according to a Melbourne Police Department report, a copy of which you'll find here. "Because there were so many cartoon characters in the bar at this time, all Captain Americas were asked to go outside for a possible identification," notes the report. One woman positively identified Adamcik as the superhero who groped her. While being booked, Adamcik asked to use the bathroom. It was then, police charge, that he attempted to flush marijuana, which apparently had been hidden in his blue tights. Adamcik was charged with battery, disorderly conduct, and pot possession. Not content with just being anti-American in their storytelling, Marvel's management is now following in the footsteps of Halliburton* (the company Michael Moore profited from even as he attacked them), and doing a deal with Dubai to open a theme park there.FastCompany, a mostly business related blog, wondered if Capt. America was sacrificed on the alter of global business (or, put another way, to appease the enemy):Less than two weeks after the surprise death of this superhero created during World War II to embody the patriotic spirit, Marvel Entertainment Group announced a partnership with UAE-based Al Ahli Group. According to Marvel’s press release, this partnership “will bring Marvel’s full library of Super Heroes – including Spider-Man, Iron Man, The X-Men, Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer – to Dubai for a major new theme park destination being developed by AAG.” Captain America died just in time.Apparently, there is no longer room in Marvel’s

A retailer at ICV2 echoes a similar sentiment to mine and various others, that Joe Quesada should resign as Marvel's EIC: I'd like to respond to John Riley's comments on Captain America. Diamond was sold out of Captain America on Sunday night. I always do my re-orders on Sunday night and when I went to increase my orders on Captain America #25, they were already sold out. So obviously there were dealers who had inside information about this book. It must be nice to have inside information like that. There have always been extras on all of the Civil War books except this one. Hmmmmm! Sounds like a scandal to me. But that is the beauty of a one distributor system!Last night I asked myself how I could have missed ordering big on this book, so I looked in the December Marvel Previews and there was one of those black classified stamps across the content description for Captain America #25. How silly and ignorant is that. What other surprises await us with the other "classified" books?Mar
Captain America has undertaken his last mission at least for now. The venerable superhero is killed in the issue of his namesake comic that hit stands Wednesday, the New York Daily News reported. On the new edition's pages, a sniper shoots down the shield-wielding hero as he leaves a courthouse. It ends a long run for the stars-and-stripes-wearing character, created in 1941. Over the years, some 210 million copies of Captain America comic books, published by New York-based Marvel Entertainment Inc., have been sold in 75 countries. But resurrections are not unknown in the world of comics, and Marvel Entertainment Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada said a Captain America comeback wasn't impossible. Still, the character's death came as a blow to co-creator Joe Simon. "We really need him now," said Simon, 93, who worked with artist Jack Kirby to devise Captain America as a foe for Adolf Hitler. The superhero was spawned when a scrawny arts student named Steve Rogers, ineligible for th
So they tell me Captain America is dead. Well, I'm not too worried. Death is surprisingly impermanent in those corporate-owned superhero comics. That's partly why I don't read them much. I mean, it's sort of cheating. Jesus can do it, sure, but when Lex Luthor does it five or six times it becomes blasé, to say the least.Remember how they played up the death of Superman? I distinctly remember where I was when I got the news that Superman had died. I was in sixth grade, and I walked down the halls and saw that some class (fortunately not mine) had wasted valuable learning time coloring "We miss you, Superman" pictures and posting them on the walls.I didn't read comics at that age because I was too busy reading Ray Bradbury short stories, but I do recall a year or two later some kid telling me that Superman was resurrected with a ponytail and a chainsaw. I have never verified this, but I did catch a few images of him with a ponytail in Kingdom Come. Now there's a good superhero co
