In an attempt to find out what the longest recorded song in popular music history was, I inadvertently read the entire Wikipedia biography of Canned Heat; one of my least-favorite and most-hated bands of all-time.I had heard that Canned Heat recorded a 40 minute version of one of their songs on the B-side to a double live album; surely a top contender in the realm of lengthily-recorded modern music. Approximately 30 to 45 minutes later, I had accidentally learned more about these backwoods oafs than I ever wanted to know. In fact, I'm terrified to know what vital knowledge was squeezed out of my brain to make room for this new and unwanted trivial information. You win this round, Canned Heat. But the battle shall rage on. Sound off in the comments section and enjoy your weekend.

A számok:01.Big Road Blues02.Can't Hold On03.Got My Mojo Working

When asked about Tucker Carlson, Griffin immediately became drowsy and almost fell out of his chair but after some smelling salts, he stated that Tucker is part of the MSNBC brand “right now”. Carlson apparently said goodbye at the end of one of his shows in early November to “the eight of you that watch us”. At least everyone can agree that Tucker sucks then, including Tucker himself. At the most all I could ever tell about him was that he was a piss poor arguer and had the personality of a puddle of mud. iTunes U — are the canned lectures a benefit to the students … or to the professors?
In his article YouTube U. Andy Kessler suggests it’s the professors. Some highlights: Without much fanfare, college lectures are being put online, for free. MIT lectures can be downloaded from iTunes University, and you can watch Cal professors pontificate on your computer via YouTube. Is this some new trend? Do colleges feel threatened by Wikipedia? Something funny is going on. No one gives anything away for free without some ulterior motive. I mean, don’t they know college is big business? Right now, 17 million students are involved in higher education, some higher than others. As a business, college is growing faster than sales of multicolored Crocs. Since 1980, the population of students under 25 has grown 40 percent–and for those over 25, it’s up even more at 52 percent. Is this what your neighbors are doing during the day? Could be. Even better (for colleges, anyway), since 2002 tuition has jumped 35 percent in real terms (that’s adjusted for in

Cashman to be canned, Yankees will thank him
We are going on a little slant in a couple of ways today. First we are having a guest blogger today (which is great because the Convenience Store Clerk has slept in today and I’m out of coffee!). Second, it’s a post with a little MLB flavor. By Kelloggs23 TINO Senior Baseball Columnist Brian Cashman is gone after this year as the general manager of the Yankees unless by some miracle they get to the World Series. As of July 3rd they are 11 games out of first in the AL East and 8.5 out of the Wild Card. Their pitching is not good so barring an ARod like offensive explosion by multiple players, the Yankees will be left out of the playoffs this year and Cashman will be gone (along with Joe Torre, but that’s a different topic). Thing is, Cashman has done a great job with the Yankees not only in the past, but right now too. Yes, the team sucks this year, but he is building it for the future. The offseason trades of Jaret Wright, Randy Johnson and Gary Sheffield not only

Orioles Perlozzo Could be First Manager Canned
Now that teams are dropping out of their divisional races right and left, we may start to see a manager here and there get canned. The first likely name to be let go is Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo, who has the Orioles sitting in last place in the AL East at 29-40. At 15.5 games back of the Red Sox, the O's are as good as done in the American League, and only the Royals and Rangers have a worst winning percentage than the Orioles. The hot seat has been under Perlozzo for some time now, and many felt that if he was unable to get the job done this season, he was going to be let go. Getting the job done means simply being an average team, around .500 or maybe better. Not many thought that the Orioles would challenge the Red Sox and Yankees, but also a lot of people did not think the team would be 11 games under .500 and getting worse before the 4th of July.Things have gotten so bad for Perlozzo that fans have begun to boo him anytime he takes the field, and someone fan has gone so far

Audi RS4 canned in favor of RS6?
Words are emerging that the Audi RS4 production has already stopped to make way for the RS6, which will debut at Frankfurt this September. The RS4 has been regarded one of the finest sports cars by both Audi enthusiasts and the media. The deletion of the RS4 couldn't come at a worse time for Audi as BMW is in their final stages of developing their M3 Sedan and Mercedes-Benz is preparing to unveil the C63 AMG at Frankfurt.Autocar reports that the Avant and Cabrio models will continue on, but we are unsure whether they will be canned anytime soon. According to the report, the decision has been made because the RS4 would cannibalise the sales of the RS6. We'd have to question that as the RS4 and RS6 would have a massive price gap and they would not cannibalise each other's sales if Audi markets them right. There is a market for the RS4 which consists of the BMW M3 Sedan and the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. The RS6 will have its share of competitors like the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E63

How to Transition Cats to New (Dry or Canned) Foods
The following excerpt comes from Dr. Lisa Pierson, a holistic vet very interested in cat nutrition. She is not associated with HealthyPetNet but her article helps you transition your cat to a decent food. I very rarely hear of kitties who won’t eat Life’s Abundance or the canned, all meat Instinctive Choice, but it does happen occasionally. See what Dr. Lisa has to say. Transitioning Dry Food Addicts to Canned Food This is the hard part. Cats, like children, often resist what is best for them. The two most frequent comments that I hear from people when trying to convince them to feed their cats a healthier diet are “my cat won’t eat canned food” and “but my cat really likes his dry food.” Children really like potato chips and ice cream but that certainly does not mean those food items constitute optimal nutrition. The transition process often involves much more than just plunking down a ne

The study tested cooked and uncooked, canned, frozen and week-old and fresh vegetables for the contents of certain nutrients. All canned and frozen vegetables tested contained more or equal percentages of vitamins and anti-oxidants, with the exeption of broccoli. That doesn’t surprise me as I’ve tried frozen broccoli before and thought it tasted and smelt odd. Not scientific, I realise, but my own personal input It found that frozen english spinach was more nutritious that cooked spinach and canned tomatoes contain 5 times more lycopine which is believed to help prevent heart disease and prostate cancer. When you think about it, fresh fruit and vegetables can be kept on supermarket shelves for weeks due to the chemicals they use to preserve them. So it’s not fresh and who knows what damage will be done to our bodies in the

"Armed and Famous" Canned After Only 4 Shows
CBS’s new reality tv show, “Armed and Famous”, got cancelled after only airing a total of four shows, which are three shows short of what CBS had planned on airing.  It doesn’t help that this show runs the same time as Fox’s famous TV show “American Idol”. For the first two shows the TV ratings where at number 44, but the third show dropped dramatically to a 70.  The reason for the low ratings is because of American Idol, which is why CBS’s spokesman Chris Ender said “Going up against `American Idol’ was a tall task for the show.” However, VH1 is planning on airing five episodes at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday including four previously aired shows and one new episode.  VH1 could also show the last two shows if the producers are able to have them finished in time. Oh well, I don’t understand why the show would air at the same time as “American Idol” anyways and expect to have good ratings!!

      Number 937 - Canned Heat
Number 937Canned Heat"Going Up To The Country".(1968)Genre:RockAh yes, can we really skip the "Woodstock" genre? No wayWhy?Because it gave music definition to a generation desperately seeking Susan. If you don't believe me ask a hippy sometime, they thrive and rejoice Woodstock. One thing is for sure you will never see that again, and that is a shame.Canned Heat came up with this wee ditty (Going Up To The Country) back in '68, if you have never heard of it, just get it. It is infectious, lackadaisical and halcyon (big words yes, but that's why i put a dictionary on the right hand side for ya) If your toes don't start tapping and you doing bad falsetto singing you can eat your brothers hat."One of the primary factors in the package's commercial success was their update of Henry Thomas' "Going Down South," which they turned into the breezy "Goin' Up the Country." The song not only became one of their biggest hits, it was also used in the Woodstock (1970) documentary and a live v

      Mario Gets Canned!
Today Young & Dundas Square in downtown Toronto was lucky enough to be host to a 9ft tall replica of everyone's favorite plumber Mario. Built entirely out of non-perishable canned food the sculpture was created to celebrate the release of "New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS and to support "The Daily Bread Foodbank"Built by Architects from SCOTT Associates Architects Inc. This 9ft sculpture weighs in at over 2600 pounds and is made of about 4000 individual cans and a couple of bags of SmartFood Popcorn. Thanks to Lorena Cordova of Nintendo Canada's PR agency Cohn & Wolfe for answering my questions. All the cans and others items that were donated at the site will be donated to "The Daily Bread Food Bank of Toronto".

Canned Heat - On the road again (1989)(Re-Post)256kbps This 15-track single-disc collection was culled from Canned Heat (1967), Boogie With Canned Heat (1968), Living the Blues (1968), Hallelujah (1969), and Future Blues (1970). Arguably, Canned Heat Cookbook (1969) -- a hits package in its own right -- could be lumped in since it was the first full-length platter with "Going Up the Country," which was initially only issued on a 45-rpm single. During this era, the Heat was inhabited by Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson (guitar/vocals), Larry "The Mole" Taylor (bass), Henry "Sunflower" Vestine (guitar), and Bob "The Bear" Hite (vocals). Frank Cook (drums) contributed to the band's self-titled debut prior to being replaced by Aldolfo "Fito" de la Parra (drums), who remained as the combo's sole purveyor into the 1990s. One of the things separating the material on this title is the integration of the extended musical memoir "Fried Hockey Boogie," featuring Hite front and center as he introduces ea

Canned Heat - Hallelujah (1968)256kbps With Bob Hite and Alan Wilson switching off on vocals, Canned Heat delivered as consistent a blues product as George Thorogood, only with more diversity and subtle musical nuances keeping the listener involved. "Same All Over" breaks no new ground, opening up the Hallelujah disc, but the enthusiasm and reverence the band has for the genre is special. Al Wilson's distinctive voice -- heard on two Top 20 hit records in 1968 -- is enhanced with his eerie whistling on "Change My Ways" and the wonderfully ragged instrumentation. The way the keys bubble up under the guitars, it would have been a natural for these guys to groove their way into a Grateful Dead-style jam band thing, but two vocalists dying within an 11-year span is a bit much for any ensemble. The name Canned Heat is so cool that it becomes the title of the third song. "Canned Heat" is a pretty accurate description of what they play, and the bluesy, slow Bob Hite vocal works wonders over
