Italy’s National Research Council released a report yesterday that shows there are traces of cannabis and cocaine in the air of Rome.
The council was doing a study on the air in Taranto, Rome and Algiers when they discovered the drugs. Their results showed that in Rome there were traces of cannabis, cocaine, nicotine, caffeine and benzopirene in the air.
Leader of the investigation Dr. Angelo Cecinato said, “The highest concentrations of cocaine were found in the center of Rome and especially in the area of the University of La Sapienza.”
The maximum concentration of cocaine, which was .1 nanograms per cubic meter, is still less than what is considered the legal limit, but they did say that it is still a concern. Also, there were small traces of some drugs in Taranto, but they found none in Algiers.
