      Cadbury and Beautifcation
This morning Conor finished off half a king sized block of Cadbury Fudge Brownie Chocolate. The brown 'gold' is a rare thing in our house. On the odd occasion we buy any, I've usually tucked into it before any one else gets a chance. Conor sought his revenge just after breakfast and within half an hour was bouncing off the walls. The cunning thief also made sure to return the empty packet back to the fridge and avoided any obvious chocolately smears on his face or anywhere else for that matter. So initially, consider me perplexed as to why he was nutting out.Nothing was safe this morning although I'm pleased Isla napped for so long as she avoided being madeover. Conor beautified himself instead. First with my bronzer which gave him Oompa-Loompa orange cheeks and then later he

      Brand Update : Cadbury
India's favorite chocolate brand has launched a new brand of chocolates exclusively for those suffering from diabetes . The new brand ' Cadbury Lite ' is currently test marketed in Tamilnadu and Andhrapradesh. This is definitely a good news for that 10% of urban population who suffers from this condition. Cadbury Lite comes with no added sugar and has a sugar substitute Maltitol .Cadbury Lite is clear cut in its positioning. It is for those who suffer from/prone to diabetes rather than for the calorie conscious. May be Cadbury does not feel that its products are unhealthy .On a branding perspective, it is interesting to note that Cadbury Lite is a new brand rather than a variant of Dairy Milk. The question arises as to why did Cadbury resisted the temptation to launch a variant rather than

Okay, so these aren't sours, but they're so strange I just couldn't resist. So from time to time, I'll review non-sour candies that are unusual or just plain fun. If you've never had a mini egg before, they're one of the great wonders of the Valentines/Easter candy season. The outside is a sweet, milky candy shell. The inside is smooth milk chocolate that's not too sweet or bitter. With this

      Clever Marketing from Cadbury’s
I’ve been doing a few surveys online lately, testing which ones I would recommend to others. Well earlier today I did a survey about lager, which showed me some adverts and then asked questions about how I felt when I saw these adverts. To be honest all these adverts were pretty bland and uninteresting. But one advert people have been talking about lately is the Cadbury Advert. For those of you who haven’t seen it, here it is :- YouTube Direktvideo link Strange, a bit different you may say, but I think its quite fun and attracts your attention. But so many people have said or I have over heard saying, how does it advertise chocolate? Well showing the advert has obviously got people talking about the advert and therefore the brand involved (Cadbury’s). So therefore it’s not only getting exposure on telly and through video sharing sites such as youtube, but also via word of mouth. Which in my opinion is the most effective form of marketing a product, because you

Candy Tourism: The Cadbury Factory Tour
Proudly wearing the Candy Addict tag means that you will go to the far reaches of the globe to have an unusual candy experience. So it was that I found myself in Claremont, Tasmania (nearest land mass to the south of Tasmania? Antarctica) visiting the Cadbury factory. Tours are run every half hour and are so popular you’ve got to make a reservation several days in advance. Cadbury is a British chocolate company which established a presence in Australia in the 1920’s. This was a wise move, as Australians consume more Easter eggs than any other country in the world, and are the fifth largest consumers of chocolate products overall. I was completely awed by the huge volume of chocolate moving through that factory. Machines which can easily wrap 850+ mini bars per minute, thousands of peppermint cream centers flying by on conveyor belts, robotic arms which pick and pack the assorted boxes - the whole experience was truly inspiring. The Claremont factory is now one of four i

Cadbury’s Dairy Milk - Gorilla Playing Drums
Now, I think this entry in TVs Worst Adverts is going to be slightly contentious but… Without wanting to sound more pompous than Noel Edmonds does on Deal or No Deal (”Welcome to the Dream Factory…”) I like to think that TVs Worst Adverts is a conduit for you, the general TV advert hating public to vent your spleen. That’s why I have the link to Submit a Bad Ad there. And that’s the link Darren clicked. He then even went and filled out the form: “It’s the new Cadbury Dairy Milk ad with the gorilla playing the drums along to a Phil Collins song. What is the meaning of this?? Eating mass-produced middle-market chocolate is like being a giant ape? It just makes NO sense at all!! Cadbury Reports 78% Drop in First Half Net Profit and Set to Layoff 7500
The UK confectionery company Cadbury reported a massive 78% fall in their first half net profit. Cadbury said it was unlikely that they would see any increase in margins this year. Cadbury is famous for making chocolate bars amongst other items, and they said the their net profit for the first half of the year was $369.7 million or £182 million which is down considerably from £819 million last year. However, the Net Profit figures last year included cash generated by the sale of Cadbury’s European beverage division. Also in the release was a 15% job reduction roughly about 7,500 layoffs. What do you think of Cadbury’s 78% Drop in First Half Net Profit? And what about the 7,500 lost jobs? Source Written by Sam for Product ReviewsIn Sections: News, Business

Cadbury to Cut Jobs as Drinks Sale Nears
LONDON, June 19 — Cadbury Schweppes, the biggest candy maker in the world, said today that it planned to cut 7,500 jobs and sell the United States beverage unit that made Dr Pepper, Snapple and 7-Up to become more profitable. Cadbury, which makes Trident gum and Dairy Milk chocolate, said it had received “expressions of interest” for the drinks unit without giving further details. Cadbury, which in March announced plans to split off its soft drinks business to focus on its candy operation, will eliminate 15 percent of the remaining jobs by 2011 to increase its margins, which have lagged behind those of rivals Hershey and Wm. Wrigley Jr. Cadbury has received offers from at least three bidding groups that include the private equity firms Bain Capital Partners and Blackstone Group, and Cott, a Canadian company that makes private-label drinks for retailers like Wal-Mart Stores, according to people close to the company. By focusing on its candy business, Cadbury aims to in

Cadbury: “Our Eggs Aren’t Smaller, You Are Bigger”
Easter has come and gone and many are still enjoying the bounty of Easter candy; either from friends, family, sales or the Easter Bunny himself. This year, though, I found that one of my favorite Easter treats had changed. No, I’m not referring to the fact that Cadbury’s Creme Egg came out in an Orange flavor. I mean that this year’s Cadbury Creme Egg is smaller than last years! I noticed it when I was looking for the nutritional information and found a box I had saved from last year’s stash. When I compared it to the numbers on the new boxes, I was surprised when the numbers were different and then I realized that this year’s egg is 5 grams smaller. Interesting. I guess I am not the only one who realized that the Cadbury Eggs this year were, well, a little less substantial. Actor B.J. Novak from “The Office” brought the issue up on a recent episode of “Late Night with Conan O’Brian” and had visual proof to back up his story

Bird Tries to Hatch Cadbury Creme Eggs
Pippa, a cockatoo living at the Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary in the UK, has apparently been protecting an open bowl of chocolate eggs for over two weeks. According to her owner, Geoff Grewcock: “She went straight over, climbed on the creme eggs and that was it. She thinks they’re her eggs. Until she clicks they’re not real eggs, we’ll just leave her there.” As long as the bird is happy with doing this, I suppose it’s fine, but I wonder if that cockatoo is actually part Cadbury bunny? Easter Candy Review: Cadbury Royal Dark Raspberry Bunny
Another day, another raspberry and chocolate Easter candy, this time from the folks at Cadbury. I picked this bunny up at the local Walgreen’s while trying to find another Raspberry Whip Egg that I reviewed yesterday. The Easter candy selection at the store is very limited, and this was the closest thing I could find. While the packaging says that it has a creme center, it is in fact more like a liquidy-gel. There was nothing creme about it. Expecting a creme center, I took a big bite out of the bunny and was surprised at how liquidy it was. It reminded me of the old Chewels gum which I used to enjoy. Overall, this bunny is very good. The dark chocolate was smooth and not too bitter, and the raspberry center, while liquidy, was still very delicious. keywords: candy, sweets, Easter, chocolate, raspberry, bunny, cadbury

Easter Candy Review: Orange Cadbury Creme Egg
I was really, really excited to hear about this new addition to the Cadbury Creme Egg Easter lineup. I have been an extremely loyal Cadbury Creme Egg fan over the years (I blame it on my mom never buying them for me as a kid and then “discovering” them in high school) but I am also an extremely picky Cadbury Creme Egg follower. I mean that in the best of ways. So far I have not come across a variation of the Cadbury Creme Egg that has lived up to the original in my opinion. Not the minis (the ratios are WAY off), not the caramel (what, no white or yolk in my egg?) and not the chocolate creme (tasted of greasiness and not chocolate). When I heard of an Orange Cadbury Creme Egg being released I eager to try it because it sounded like a variation that is still faithful to the original, yet different enough to seem new. I felt in order to properly judge my first Orange Cadbury Creme Egg I had to have an original Cadbury Creme Egg tasting first. I haven’t had one since la

      Cadbury's Samonella
I knew Cadbury's had lost the plot when they started to print on their chocolate bars, 'More To Share'. Clearly to anyone who cares about chocolate, sharing is emotionally difficult and just plain wrong. After Fridays news that Cadbury are now including very small amounts of Salmonella in their chocolate, maybe sharing wouldn't be such a selfless thing to do anymore. Cadburys knew of this problem in January, and yet did nothing about it. I suspect they were acting on advice from MI5, or similar, as everyone knows, chocolate is the drug of choice for many. I should think a lack of chocolate, could have national security implications! Will I continue to eat Cadbury's Dairy Milk Chocolate? Well I eat eggs, and that has far more risk of Samonella contamination then any bar of chocolate could ever have. So as long as I eat eggs (don't know if Cadbury Cream Eggs have a higher risk?) then I shall continue to eat chocolate. In fact I just might eat some right NOW!
