What the holy hell is going on with the spam all of a sudden? My spam filter has caught more than 700 spam comments since Friday, and I’ve deleted another dozen or more spam trackbacks. I wade through all of them, because the spam filter does occassionally snag a legitimate comment by mistake, but it’s getting to be an onerous task. I’m not one for superstition but after the suffering we went through I’ve am ABSOLUTELY convinced that Mihin Airways is Cursed!!!!The Fokker F-27 functioned fine before it was re-registered as 4R-MRA. Operating as 4R-EXF the same aircraft operated two flights to Jaffna every day for week at end with only minor problems like false propeller pitch warnings (due to faulty brushes) and the unavoidable worn tires and brakes.Re-registered to Mihin and the problems just started rolling in!Upon take off from Rathmalana at 6:30am the flaps wouldn’t retract. They were stuck at 16.5 degrees after a few minutes of trying to rectify the problem in flight we decided it was best to return to base and get things fixed. After touching down and retesting the flaps they retracted fine so we deduced the motor was weak. Thus the failure to retract in flight – with the heavy load imposed by the oncoming airflow. Changed the motor, performed an operational check and we were airborne again at 7:45am
