As part of one of the longest-standing traditions at the park, guests of SeaWorld Orlando have almost always been able to enjoy a free brew at the Hospitality House. A result of being owned by the makers of Budweiser, Michelob, Busch, and other beers, SeaWorld and Busch Gardens have offered free tastings of the American beers for years. Sadly, that tradition will soon come to an end in February
It is official; as of Tuesday, November 18th, Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. is now Anheuser-Busch InBev, as the company has been purchased by Belgian beer maker InBev for $52 billion dollars. The difficulty in closing funding for some recently concluded corporate takeovers has presented an arbitrage profit opportunity for investors willing to take some risk. In particular I refer to the $52 billion mega takeover of U.S. brewer Anheuser-Busch (Ticker : BUD), the company that is famous for Budweiser Beer, by Belgian brewer InBev. Both are well capitalized, large cap stocks, and both comp

Inspiration comes to playwrights in strange ways. The play that Charles Busch started writing when commissioned by the La Jolla Playhouse is very different from the show that will have its world premiere September 16.The Third Story is actually comprised of three overlapping tales woven together into a fast and funny play. Laptop computers containing sensitive information on current and former Anheuser‑Busch employees have been stolen from the beer maker’s premises. You know, last month I wrote a controversy article asking the question, should the NASCAR All-Star race be moved? My whole look at this was moving the All-Star race to a racetrack that either doesn’t already have a Cup Series date or only has one Cup Series date. At Least to me, the All-Star is a lot like a Cup date, it’s huge, it for the most part draws in record number of fans and even thoug

At 16, Busch competed in the [[NASCAR]] [[Craftsman Truck Series]] for [[Roush Racing]] as a replacement after the team's two drivers were released midway in the 2001 season, and earned two top-10 finishes in six starts what was scheduled to be a full-season campaign for [[2002]]. (In [[2000]], NASCAR rules changed to permit a driver to make up to seven starts -- up from five -- in a season before becoming a full-time driver for rookie status.)
(Photo Credit: Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)So here’s the question of the day (the next day)…What do you consider as a good race and would you consider the Crown Royal 400 at Richmond last night a good race?Racing under the light’s in Richmond is always exciting, a ¾ mile racetrack, a sellout crowd, 43 good drivers and 400 laps makes for an interesting night and race fans, that’s exactly what we got in Richmond regardless of what your personal feelings are after a late race battle turns to a wreck.Like the title says, emotions, emotions, emotions, now let me state the obvious from the start, I am a huge Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan and I’ve been an Earnhardt fan for years now and for anyone who reads my blog regularly, you most likely already know this. As I sit here following the Crown

Thompson went six and-two-thirds, giving up six of the seven hits and fanning six. He also drove in a run at the plate, while Troy Glaus went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jason Isringhausen picked up his first save of the season as St. Louis took two-of-three in the series from the defending National League champions. Garrett Atkins was 3-for-4 for the Rox in the losing effort. Ubaldo Jimenez took the loss, giving up all three runs on eight hits. A report in this morning's Wall Street Journal indicates that Attorneys General from a number of states have subpoenaed Anheuser-Busch and Miller Brewing, looking into how those companies market caffeinated alcohol drinks and whether they are targeting underage drinkers.Government lawyers from New York, Maine, Maryland, Arizona and Iowa are focused on the popularity of energy-style drinks with young people and whether claims are being made by the brewers about the power of the caffeinated drinks to fuel late night drinking. The U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau approved the labeling for the brands and took no action on an earlier request from the states to clamp down on the products. The Attorneys General are under pressure from anti-alcohol groups who claim these products are d
By Official ReleaseDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR has placed drivers Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch on probation for the first six races of the 2008 Sprint Cup Series season, a result of their on-track altercations Friday during practice for the Budweiser Shootout.Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Toyota and Busch, driver of the No. 2 Dodge, violated Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing; altercation with another competitor) of the NASCAR rule book. The probations start Wednesday, as practice begins for the season-opening Daytona 500.NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said the drivers were disciplined solely for the on-track portion of their clash, when the drivers deliberately used their cars as battering rams."We will continue to keep a check on this sport and won't let it get out o
The NASCAR Nationwide Series, NASCAR’s second major racing series, which in some cases is also referred to as a stepping series to the Cup Series. For the past year or so, I have been thinking about this subject and in turn reading just what fans, writers, drivers and even owners comments on this subject and after going to Loudon, NH (NHIS) (like I do every year) to watch the Busch Series in action, I believe that there is no doubt that the series needs a new identity not only because Busch is gone as title sponsor and is replaced with Nationwide, but in general, its still too much like the Cup series.First, would be in naming of series, when you look at NASCAR’s other two major series, they both have that non-changeable names, for example, NASCAR’s elite series is the Cup Series and

Ever visit Crozet, Va.? Have you heard of Starr Hill Brewery? No?Well some of the folks in St. Louis at Anheuser-Busch have. Earlier this week they announced a deal under which A-B will serve as the master distributor for Starr Hill's line of beers. Starr Hill has six employees and turns out 5,000 barrels of beer annually. Founded in 1999, the company now has what many craft brewers 10 times their size wish they had: access to a network of 600 wholesalers from coast to coast. What is behind A-B's decision to partner with such a small player? According to media reports about the deal, A-B wants to help Starr Hill build its brand in Virginia and then expand it from New York to Georgia during the next three to five years. If they have momentum behind the product it could go national at that point. With craft beer sales up 11 percent during 2007, A-B has been active launching its own line of brews aimed at the segment and in signing deals with craft brewers around the country, most focuse
NASCAR has approved Penske Racing's request to transfer the owner points from Kurt Busch to Sam Hornish Jr., a move that locks the three-time IndyCar Series champion into the first five races of next season.
Hornish publicly thanked Busch for giving him the points at the Penske holiday party on Friday night. Bud Denker, senior vice president of Penske Corp., confirmed Saturday that the team would swap the points with NASCAR's approval.
Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's vice president of competition, said the sanctioning body had signed off on the transfer.
"This would obviously help Sam as he prepares to run the first five races instead of prepares to qualify for the first five races,†Denker said. "With a champion like Kurt Busch and the opportunity to utilize (the points), anyone would be foolish to not take care of the situation.â€
Hornish, a former Indianapolis 500 winner, is leaving that series for NASCAR next season. But his No. 77 Dodge won't be one of the 35 cars locked
Anheuser-Busch continues to expand its offering of non-beer products. The company is test marketing Purus Vodka in New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Annapolis, Md.Purus is an 80-proof organic wheat vodka that is priced at $35 a bottle. The product is distilled under contract for A-B in Italy's Piedmonte region by Distilleria Sacchetto. A-B's Long Tail Libations unit is managing the introduction.
Jeff Burton has made a place in NASCAR history. He will forever be recorded as the last driver to win in the NASCAR Busch Series. Burton won the Ford 300 at the Homestead Miami Speedway as Anheuser Busch, the series sponsor of twenty six years bids farewell to the sport.
Clearly one of the marketing drivers this year for the folks at Anheuser-Busch has been to tell the world about how well beer and food goes together. And we're not just talking pizza and beer, although that still works. A-B has been on the road holding some beer pairing dinners and doing other work to get beer a place at the table in fine dining establishments. I was the guest at one of these events earlier this year at Blue in Charlotte. Now comes the release of "Great Food Great Beer: The Anheuser-Busch Cookbook."A-B worked with Sunset Publishing to create the cookbook, which has lavish food photography. Brent Wertz, executive chef at the Kingsmill Resort & Spa, and George Reisch, an A-B brewmaster, were involved in some of the recipe development and pairing suggestions in the cookbook."Great Beer Great Food" starts off with a history of A-B and some information on matching beer and food, proper beer glassware and a quick guide to beer styles. Because the book is from Anheuser-Busc

AVONDALE, Ariz. (Nov. 11, 2007) ¿ Penske Racing led the Dodge contingent in Sunday's Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway with Ryan Newman finishing fifth and Kurt Busch placing 12th. Sam Hornish Jr. took 30th in his NASCAR NEXTEL Cup debut.Newman's second straight top-five finish and his seventh this season moved him up one position in the point standings to 13th with one race remaining in the season. He is now 58 points ahead of the 14th-place Dale Earnhardt Jr.¿The Alltel Dodge was pretty good," said Newman, who led once for four laps after starting 13th in the 312-lap race on the 1-mile track. "We knew we were good enough to get track position with the disadvantage; with two tires or with fuel only, and that was OK. I wasn¿t mad about that, but I wish we just had that extra little speed so we could get on everyone else¿s strategy. You know, being able to take two tires when everybody takes two, or take four when they take four. We¿re getting closer to that
Clint Bowyer claimed his chief Busch order pole position of the year in qualifying for the Arizona Travel 200, the penultimate lineage of the season, at Phoenix International Raceway.
Bowyer will start from the best possible speck to prove to repeat his April victory at the individual-mile oval, after setting a spell of 27.077 seconds at an average speed of 132.954 mph, driving the No.

Carl Edwards only needed to finish at least 36th to take the NASCAR Busch Series championship. He won his first Busch Series title finishing 11th at Texas Motor Speedway Saturday.
“It’s really amazing to be a Busch Series champion,” he said. “I can’t tell you how exciting that is and what it means to me.” He has won four times season.
Kevin Harvick returned to his Richard Childress Racing ride to claim his sixth win of the season in the OReilly Challenge at the Texas Motor Speedway.
Harvick, the two time series champion is no stranger to victory lane at TMS, this marked his fourth win at the one and a half mile facility. The victory, Harvick thirty-second in the series moved him into sole position of second on the all time win list surpassing Jack Ingram and leaving him fifteen wins away from the all time leader Mark Martin.
WE went there last night to Howl-O-Scream and we had a blast! It was funny to see how sacred some people really are. Most of the rides were working and they were fun to do as always. We rode several roller coasters last night and we did a few haunted houses. I have a few pics to put up tomorrow. It was well worth the money for it. The park had over 24,000 people in it last night. I was really surprised about that and I was told that last weekend they had to close the park several times due to it being at max capacity which is 34,000 people!!! Tonight is the last day it is opened for the season. At the end of the night, we rode the Loch Ness Monster 5 times!! MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Oct. 19, 2007) Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman will start beside one another in Sunday's Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway, as a result of the Penske Racing teammates earning the 11th and 12th starting positions, respectively, in Friday's rain-delayed qualifying session.Busch, who went out 40th in the 48-driver qualifying order, recorded a lap of 20.068 seconds, 94.359 mph, in his Miller Lite Dodge Avenger. Newman's Alltel Dodge Avenger followed Busch. The Indiana native posted a 20.072-second, 94.340-mph lap, just 0.004 second behind Busch and 0.134 second in arrears to pole winner Jeff Gordon.Sam Hornish Jr., who was attempting to make his NASCAR NEXTEL Cup debut in his Mobil 1 Dodge Avenger, was 38th quickest with a lap of 20.347 seconds, 93.065 mph. However, under NASCAR rules, he wasn't quick enough among those required to qualify on time to make it into the field. He was bumped from the grid by former Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton. The rain certainly didnt hel
Jeff Burton wins NASCAR Busch Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway last Friday night.
Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished a distant second and third.
“We had a really good car,” Burton said. “It got better as the night went on. These guys (on the Richard Childress Racing crew) just kept making the car better all day. And, give them credit. They changed the engine, oil lines, everything (Thursday night), and the car was just great.”
There were 10 caution flags in the race and Burton said the final one, on lap 182, gave him the win.
First up is Nextel Cup: Is it a two-man race for the Nextel Cup going into Charlotte? This question was asked a couple of nights ago on NASCAR Now and I really think it deserves a classic answer, simply put NO way, its not just a two-man race (being last weekends Talladega winner Jeff Gordon leading by 9 points of his Hendrick teammate Jimmie Johnson.). There is still six races left in the chase, I will say that both Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson are had chargers right now and seem to be unbeatable at times, but I wouldn’t count out any driver in the top 6.At this time last season, Jimmie Johnson was a full race out of the lead by -156 points behind Jeff Burton going into Charlotte and we all know he won the championship by 56 points over second place Matt Kenseth. So really any driver that’s around 210 points back, still has a good shot at victory. Really all one of these drivers really need is six races of top 5’s and top 10 finishes. Don’t forget, one blown motor and anothe
TALLADEGA, Ala. - To say that Toyota teams dominated qualifying at Talladega Superspeedway Saturday would clearly be an understatement. Michael Waltrip won the pole with a lap of 189.070 mph in his Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota. Dave Blaney followed in his Bill Davis Racing Toyota. Toyota drivers took four of the top five spots. Team Red Bull driver and defending race winner Brian Vickers qualified third. Joe Nemechek (No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet), David Reutimann (No. 00 MWR), Jacques Villeneuve (No. 27 BDR Toyota), John Andretti (BAM Racing Dodge) and Dale Jarrett (MWR Toyota) all qualified in the top eight. Jarrett will start 43rd by virtue of being the last to qualify of the drivers who were outside the top 35 in owners points. Of course, that is partially due to the fact that the Toyota teams are all outside the top 35 in owners points and are forced to qualify based on speed for the UAW-Ford 500. Still, this session was an exercise in dominance. The top eight have not p

Nationwide is moving into the final stages of negotiations to replace Anheuser-Busch’s Busch beer as title sponsor of NASCAR’s #2 series, sources are telling Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Daily. Michael Smith of Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal this morning reported in the Daily that Nationwide submitted an offer last Thursday, as did Subway, the sandwich franchise operation that had been considered the frontrunner.Nationwide’s talks with NASCAR progressed over the weekend, the story said, and a contract proposal is believed to be in the legal pipeline at Nationwide. Officials at NASCAR say that it does not have a deal with a new sponsor, but sources say an agreement with Nationwide could be finalized in the coming days.
DOVER, Del. (Sept. 23, 2007) ¿ Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman were within 14 laps of producing top-five finishes in Sunday's Dodge Dealers 400 at Dover International Speedway when a right-front flat tire sent Busch careening into the backstretch's outside wall, triggering a 10-car melee that also involved Newman.Busch was running fourth and Newman fifth when the accident occurred. When Busch's Miller Lite Dodge Avenger smacked the outside wall, Newman cut his Alltel Dodge Avenger to the left in an attempt to avoid Busch, but Busch bounced off the wall and into Newman. With the field so tightly packed due to a restart just one lap earlier, the accident collected several top-10 cars, three of whom were hoping to make substantial gains in the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup in addition to Busch. "I don't know exactly what happened, but we must have had a right-front tire go down and something broke on the right-front suspension," said Busch, who is now 11th in the point standings, trailing lead
With two rounds in the Chase for the Nextel Cup Championship complete, I would have thought by this point (after two races…) the chase picture would have looked more spread out considering what happened last season at first race with the lap 3 wreck and most contenders falling or crashing out early, but that wasn’t the case at all and no one expected to see Clint Bowyer pickup his first career victory and in such dominating fashion. When you looked at the other chasers after New Hampshire, just about everyone had really good runs and nothing really changed expect for Bowyers position moved up to fourth in the points. However the opposite happened in Dover, I truly believe that that racetrack is the Monster Mile, it threw everything at the chase drivers including what some would say the kitchen sink, first the crash with Hamlin and Petty were Hamlin just looked like he ran over Petty and including the little fight sort of speck in the garage area, but the second thing, the huge crash
Denny Hamlin dominated the RoadLoans.com 200 at the Dover International Speedway to win his fifth NASCAR Busch series event of his career.
Hamlin who started forth led the 200 mile event five times for a total of 138 laps took the lead for the final time as he passed New Jersey native Martin Truex Jr with fourteen circuits remaining.
Many lament the days when stock cars were actually based on production cars, rather than the new NASCAR Nextel Cup Car of Tomorrow vehicles that merely wear stickers bearing the headlights and grille of their production counterparts. While production-based stock cars will likely never happen again, word is that the NASCAR Busch Series will switch to cars based on the Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, Dodge Challenger and yet-to-be-determined model from Toyota as soon as the 2009 season. The world of NASCAR is divided into three series, which include the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. The Busch Series has had a bit of an identity crisis lately, though. Meant to be a stage for a up and coming drivers in NASCAR, seasoned vets have taken to racing in the Busch Series as well as the Nextel Cup and usually dominate the podium of the former. While switching to pony cars won't chase away the experienced drivers, it will give the Busch Series a new
According to the German magazine Euro am Sonntag, Anheuser-Busch Companies is in the midst of negotiations with the Czech government to buy Budejovicky Budvar. The two companies have had a long running series of legal battles in courtrooms around the globe over the Budweiser brand name. The magazine cited sources in the Czech Parliament.Czech Trade Minister Martin Riman has estimated the brewery could fetch $1.5 billion. Some officials and the Czech public have been critical of a potential sale of the brewery to foreign companies, especially Anheuser-Busch fearing that the Budvar brand could be eliminated. Besides Anheuser-Busch, several other companies have been rumored to be in the running for the brewery. Belgian mega brewer InBev, along with British firms Fuller, Smith and Turner and Young & Co., have all been reportedly interested in buying Budvar.
Kasey Kahne passed Ryan Newman with eight laps to go. And then he held off several charges from Jason Leffler to win the Busch Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday night.
He’s second Busch win of the season was marred by a NASCAR scoring error against Kyle Busch that cost him a chance to run for the win.
BRISTOL, Tenn. (Aug. 25, 2007) Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman produced top-10 finishes Saturday night in the Sharpie 500 at the tough Bristol Motor Speedway, as they continued to fight for a position in the title chase. With two races remaining before the NASCAR Chase for the NEXTEL Cup begins, Busch maintains the 12th position with a 158-point advantage over the 13th-place Dale Earnhardt Jr. He also closed on the 10th- and 11th-place drivers with his sixth-place finish in his Miller Lite Dodge Avenger. Busch is now within eight points of the 11th-place Martin Truex Jr. and nine points of 10th-place Kevin Harvick."We knew that he [Earnhardt Jr.] finished right in front of us at the finish, but we didn't know at first that he'd sneaked in there and led a lap, too, like we did for the bonus points," said Busch, who possesses the final Chase eligible position. "We thought it'd turned out as a scratch and we were still 163 (points) ahead. But now they're telling me that we did lose five p
BRISTOL, Tenn. (Aug. 24, 2007) - Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger, will start 11th in Friday night's Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway. This is only the second time Newman has started a Busch Series race at BMS from outside the top 10. He started 15th in August 2001."The car is good. These guys have worked really hard and I think we'll have a good shot at winning tonight," Newman said after posting a qualifying lap of 118.966 mph, 16.129 seconds, on the half-mile track. "We're out here to have fun and to win the race, so there's no pressure on us tonight. It's just a matter of having fun."Tonight's Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway will be broadcast live by ESPN2 and PRN radio beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
Even though Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch appear to be battling for the final spot in the Chase For The Nextel Cup, the pair of Penske Racing drivers don't see each other as competition. Instead, they say they are fighting a lot of other drivers for spots to get both of them in the 12-driver field that will compete for the NASCAR championship. Entering Sunday's 3M Performance 400 at Michigan International Speedway, Busch holds that final Chase spot while Newman is 13th, 96 points behind him. Yet they don't plan to change the way they operate or alter the team dynamic at all. If anything, Newman and Busch are working together even more closely in an effort to boost the performance of both. "We're not competing against each other," Newman said Tuesday during a national teleconference. "We've got two teams going for the last two spots in the Chase. That's the way we look at it. Obviously we're [96] points out of 12th, but Kurt is not too far behind 11t

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (Aug. 12, 2007) Kurt Busch strengthened his hold on 12th place in the standings with his 11th-place finish in Sunday's Centurion Boats at The Glen, while Ryan Newman gained a position with his 13th-place performance at Watkins Glen International. With four races remaining before the "Chase for the Championship" begins, Busch leads 13th-place Newman by 96 points and Dale Earnhardt Jr., who dropped to 14th, by 100 points. Busch trails 11th-place Martin Truex Jr. by 58 points. Newman moved into the standings' 13th position due to Earnhardt Jr.'s Chevrolet losing an engine during the season's final road course race. Even though both Penske Racing drivers improved themselves in the overall picture, it wasn't an easy 90-lap event on the 2.45-mile course for either competitor. Newman experienced handling issues with his Kodak Dodge Avenger and took two side trips into the gravel pits that provide run-off areas at various turns. The first occurred
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (Aug. 11, 2007) – Ryan Newman fought off a tenacious Andy Lally in the closing laps of Saturday's Zippo 200 NASCAR Busch Series race at Watkins Glen International to bring his No. 12 Kodak Dodge Charger home in ninth. It was the second top-10 finish for Newman in five Busch Series races this season. The dual between Newman and Lally erupted with less than 10 laps remaining after Newman forced his way by Denny Hamlin in turn one. Newman, who was 10th when the 82-lap race restarted on lap 73 after the fifth and final caution period, barreled off into turn one under Hamlin with seven laps remaining. Newman's Kodak Dodge slid wide and took Hamlin with it into the paved run-off area. Both kept racing and Newman completed the pass.Newman now focused his yellow No. 12 Kodak Dodge on Lally. The dual began, and as they entered turn 11 on the 2.45-road course, Lally shoved Newman to the outside. Newman kept control of his car and continued down the frontstretch, maintaining
Last week amid a controversial finish, Kevin Harvick gave Richard Childress Racing its first Busch series road course win in the organizations history.

He will driving the Kodak think: Car.Newman's teammate Kurt Busch grabbed the pole in his #139 Penske Truck Rental car.Good luck to Ryan Newman and his #12 KODAK Dodge Busch Series Team for this race.Mike
Penske Racing's fortunes seem on an upturn -In one respect it almost seems unfair. As Dale Earnhardt Jr. attempts to make the Chase for the Nextel Cup, he is facing a 2-on-1 battle.Earnhardt Jr., NASCAR's most popular driver and 13th in points, trails Penske Racing's Kurt Busch by seven points for the 12th and final Chase spot entering Sunday's Centurion Boats at the Glen at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International. Sitting in 14th is Busch's teammate, Ryan Newman.Busch catapulted past Earnhardt Jr. for the 12th spot last weekend with his dominating win at Pocono (Pa.) and ended a 51-race winless streak. Earnhardt Jr. has a sizable (47 races) winless streak of his own.Newman "came to Victory Lane and congratulated us. The team chemistry is really on its peak right now with the way we share information and help each other on the track," Busch said."If we have a fast car guys know it out on the track and Newman definitely helped us get to this point."In recent weeks, Busch and Newman have m
(Photo Credit: AP Photo/Tom Boland,CP)Before I get into some thoughts on this past weekends first Busch series race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, let me first state something, I am not a fan of Robby Gordon at all and I can’t stand him at all, plus he let’s his short temper and hitting people out of the way get the best of him and that’s it.With that said, I will try and come up with reasonal points about just what should have happened compared to what did happen and as a huge fan of NASCAR, I am disappointed in this Montreal race and there is a lot of blame and wrong calls to go around. If you fast forward to the last four laps of this race since the first 70 laps was just a lot of give and take. With 4 laps to go, Ambrose was leading coming to green and going through turns 1 and down through turn 2 and then Robby Gordon hit Ambrose in the right corner backend just as they went out of frame to come up to make the past on Ambrose, Ambrose then either didn’t see the
