Quick, who's atop the Sprint Cup points standings?
Jimmie Johnson? Nope, he's fifth.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.? Uh-uh, he's third.
Kyle Busch? Wrong. Second.
I know, Carl Edwards! Surely, with a series-leading three wins, he has to be No. 1, right? Guess again. He's 10th (mainly due to the 100-point penalty he was assessed at Las Vegas).
As hard as it may seem – especially to the casual Sprint Cup

I haven’t wittered on about The Mighty Seagulls for a while, and with good reason.
Truth be told, whilst still hopeful for this season, we are in a position where our season can go either way. We’re 12th and a few points off the pace, but with a number of games in hand, we should be right up there. We’re not doing fantastically, but we aint doing half bad.
The reason we are a few games behind is because we’ve really shone is in the cup competitions.
We went far in the FA Cup until losing to Barrow, we took Witton (a team who are running away with the title in the division above) to penalties in the League cup, and we’ve done well in the FA Trophy, beating Frickley and Sheffield along the way.
Tomorrow, in that trophy, we face the club with the stupidest crest ever - Burton Albion.
Burton Albion are one of the favourites in the trophy: they are a very good side with a great young manager (Nigel Clough, ex Liverpool player who is the son of Brian Clough - he

For a while I thought a few blog readers might convince themselves it wasn't The Burton on Victoria Street. The pub had a face lift last year and has always looked elegant facing the Gaffers Row cottages. There are several distinctive marking on the front, some obscured by the quiz mask (see two posts below). But, as ever, well done to those who identified it so quickly. Far too much time in local boozers I reckon! This end of town could become a busy spot in a few years and that's probably one reason that the breweries have stuck at it with this pub and the recently revamped Victoria a few yards further down the street. The [Wetherspoons] Gaffers Row has been a huge hit on the corner of the Queensway/bus station block, and the Limelight continues to be a favourite music/drink venue. So if the town redevelopment brings new bars and restaurants this really could be a vibrant area of Crewe... I’m sure you already know about Tim Burton’s classic gothic movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas, but it’s Halloween today, so it’s pretty much required viewing. As such, I thought it might be something interesting to talk about. Tim Burton has made many other great gothic film like Edward Scissorhands and Corpse Bride, but I feel none of them were quite as fantastic as The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The movie emulates the Disney musical format in a way, but with a dark and gothic twist visually. I found it made the movie very artistically appealing and set it apart from other similarly themed films–aside from Corpse Bride that is, which was basically just a rehash of it’s animation style because the devoted fans just wouldn’t let it end with just one movie. The movie makes use of a sort of claymation appearance, which is a very uncommon animation style. Because of this it allowed a more ‘real’ look to it while remaining surreal
Jeff Burton wins NASCAR Busch Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway last Friday night.
Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished a distant second and third.
“We had a really good car,” Burton said. “It got better as the night went on. These guys (on the Richard Childress Racing crew) just kept making the car better all day. And, give them credit. They changed the engine, oil lines, everything (Thursday night), and the car was just great.”
There were 10 caution flags in the race and Burton said the final one, on lap 182, gave him the win.
Tim Burton is rumoured to be returning to stop animation for the third time. It seems Burton is planning a full-length remake of his short film Frankenweenie. If you’re not familiar with Frankenweenie, we may have to bring you up to speed.
Available on the Nightmare Before Christmas DVD, Frankenweenie is a loose-retelling of the Frankenstein story in which young Victor’s dog, Weenie, is run over only to be resurrected by his master. The Frankendog soon becomes the neighbourhood terror, but Victor desperately tries to convince them that he’s still just his loveable pet.
The original short was live-action and just 29 minutes long. In order to make the film work on the big-screen, there would need to be some major work involved. Then again, I’m sure Burton would be up to it!

Oklahoma-based Burton Hotel Group broke ground yesterday on the $7 million, 79-room Sleep Inn and Suites at 5305 S. Donnybrook Ave., south of the Social Security Administration office.
Sleep Inn & Suites, part of Choice Hotels International, will feature a 50-seat meeting space. Other amenities will include an outdoor swimming pool, an arbor, a fitness center and a business center.
The other two hotels, a Comfort Suites and a Candlewood Suites, were previously constructed on East Rieck Road, a short distance from the Sleep Inn and Suites site.
This will be Burton's first hotel project. It is expected to open next summer.

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The No. 31 Richard Childress Racing car was unloaded as a plain orange and black car without AT&T logos Friday morning at Bristol Motor Speedway. With NASCAR Vice President of Racing Operations Steve O'Donnell watching, the Jeff Burton crew unloaded the car at 6 a.m. with a car that met NASCAR's approval. That's because it didn't have AT&T logos on it. It didn't have any logos on the hood or the side panels. The team hauler was plain black with the 31 number, and the team was wearing gray RCR t-shirts. All AT&T logos have been removed from pit equipment as well.NASCAR and AT&T have been embroiled in a legal battle since March over the logos, the result of a merger involving Cingular and AT&T in December 2006.AT&T had won an injunction on breach of contract grounds as U.S. District Court Judge Marvin Shoob ruled May 18 that NASCAR's grandfather clause in its licensing agreement that gives RCR a car number allowed for the Cingular logos to be changed to AT
*************** In this article AT&T is quoted as saying that NASCAR is REQUIRING then to not only remove the AT&T name and logo immediately, BUT also they MUST have the name Cingular on the car. Are you kidding me. If Budweiser wanted a red and white paint scheme that did not actually say "Budweiser" on it, would NASCAR force Budweiser to have their name on it? I don't think so. What if Home Depot just wanted a orange car with out the "Home Depot" on it. Would NASCAR make them? Don't think so! NASCAR is WAY over board here. I can understand wanting the "Go Phone" off of the car IF IF IF that was not part of the previous Cingular. But MAKING them put the name Cingular on the car...WOW! Sounds like AT&T really wants to stay in the game and keeps trying. Good luck to them, RCR and Jeff Burton. WAY OUT OF CONTROL- Don't know why, but this story and this subject gets my blood boiling.*************** BRISTO
I have not heard anything about this. And I am kind of suprised about it. On Monday the Judge said that they had 5 days to reply. AT&T did ask the court to reconsider on Friday and determned that they would be racing with theAT&T logo in SUNDAY's race. But here it is Monday and I think the 5 days is up. And if it is postponed even farther to Tues, then definetly the 5 days is up. And more importantly, what are they going to do after that. Is AT&T just going to use the Cingular brand name on the car. That doesn't make alot of sense because there isn't a Cingular anymore. Will AT&T be allowed to just pull out. Where will that leave Jeff Burton and RCR. I think the Judge should at least let AT&T finish out the year. BUT - Ultimetly AT&T , RCR and Jeff Burton are completly right in this situation. AT&T should be able to have that logo on their car. Mike
BROOKLYN, Mich. -- With the AT&T paint scheme still on the No. 31 Chevrolet, Jeff Burton went out for the first practice session Friday and blew an engine. Not a good omen, but a minor nuisance compared to the team's long-term problem. AT&T officials followed their legal option Friday of asking the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider the ruling from earlier this week. The court sided with NASCAR and threw out a lower court ruling that allowed the AT&T logo on the car. Cingular, which was the primary sponsor for Burton, merged with AT&T and eliminated the Cingular brand. NASCAR officials said Richard Childress Racing could not change the logos on the No. 31 because of exclusivity rights for Cup series title sponsor Nextel. "This case has never been about NASCAR's right to grant exclusivity," Burton said Friday. "That's never been questioned. The question on this case has everything to do with what AT&T was told they could and could not do." Cingular and A
The Audex iPod AMP Backpack is the latest model in Burton’s lineup of Wearable Electronic gear. Burton was the first company that integrated a remote control function for audio player into backpacks and the first company with an iPod ready backpack commercially available.
This cool looking Audex iPod AMP Backpack does not only carry your iPod, it has enough room for your MacBook or MacBook Pro up to 17″ - yeah, you can fit those Dell machines as well.
The integrated Audex iPod control system on the shoulder strap with the removable wireless transmitter is compatible with G3 and all newer iPod with the dock connector.
Burton developed together with Motorola the Audex technology that is used in Burton’s apparel and backpacks. Instead of integrating the remote control buttons into the backpacks shoulder strap, they use a kind of holder on the should strap where the wireless transmitter is placed.
The disadvantage of this concept is, this little thing could easily fall
Richard Childress Racing’s (RCR) Jeff Burton is one of several drivers to be featured in a five-piece, non-narrative, unscripted series, “NASCAR in Primetime,” beginning August 15 on ABC News.
Helena Bonham Carter, 41, and director Tim Burton, 48, are expecting their second child together in December.
The pair already have son, Billy Raymond Burton, 3.
Bonham Carter is probably best known for her roles in Howards End and Room with a View. She received a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her film The Wings of the Dove. More recently, she has starred in some of Burton’s films such as Big Fish and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Among other movies Burton has directed Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Batman, Beetle Juice and the upcoming Sweeny Todd.

It is hard to say what the movie will be like, but with Tim and Johnny teaming up once more it is sure to be something special. Judging by the movie poster, Sweeney Todd could very well be Burton’s best work yet.

After we did the Tail Rank DOA article Kevin Burton was kind enough to get hold of us and let us know some things that are upcoming with Tail Rank, and his new project Spinn3r. Below is the QA conducted by e-mail, we prefaced our questions with Techwag and put them italics, and Kevin’s responses with KB. We decided to leave the last question in line because we here at techwag didn’t get the full idea of what was in the broadcast that we had watched, and Kevin corrected what we were talking about.
Techwag: Tell us about Spinn3r, what are your goals for the web site?
KB: Spinn3r is more of a data indexing service than a website. When we built Tailrank we had a number of clients request access to our crawler. Instead of just setting these up on a ad hoc basis for individual customers we just decided to productize it and make it available to everyone.
We’re planning on releasing Spinn3r 2.0 in the next couple of weeks. We’ve been obviously spending a lot of time impro
"The Boy with Nails in His Eyes"The Boy with Nails in His Eyes put up his aluminum tree.It looked pretty strange because he couldn't really see.O Let me start out by saying, I love the art of Tim Burton (and most of his movies too)! I've had this book for I don't know how long, probably the moment I knew it was to be had in the bookstores. I have a few others, but, this one is my favorite. I love the illustrative art to be found inside (an example up above). Here's where the "problem" comes in....OThe art seems so simple, clean and modern, with just enough color. When I try to attempt this kind of art, it just doesn't turn out to be what I want. I thought it would be so simple, kind of a pen and ink type drawing done on quality papers. I could even color it in if I chose to do so, or I could scan it, then digitally color it in Photoshop. I would be sure to get the results that I was looking for, but I don't. I've attempted this many times and wish I knew what the key was. While

Top director Tim Burton is in talks with studio bosses, about a possibility of making a movie about shock rock singer Marilyn Manson and Dita Von Teese his estranged wife. Burton has said that he finds everything about the couples life fascinating, and how great it would be of he did have a chance to make a movie about them.
One quote that director Tim Burton had said was “I’m fascinated by Dita and Marilyn. They’re like a living Brothers Grimm fairytale.” The couple had split earlier this year, and had a rollercoaster marriage with each other.
