It is really weird but in Assam in India, criminals are stealing leaves. The leaves are said to be "tea tree leaves" which are being marketed and exported in different countries. The thieves were said to be so desperate due to difficult times. They even had bows and arrows and homemade firearms and threaten the workers who would get in their way. Two of the workers in the plantation were also kille

Losing an hour’s sleep shouldn’t be the only worry on homeowners’ minds this weekend as clocks go forward in the UK. Statistics from home insurance provider Saga suggest that we should also be concerned about the safety of our property as the number of burglaries takes a spike during the period when the nights get [...]
All of us in ecommerce have a heavy vested interest in maximising income whilst minimising the time spent maximising! Where some are losing out ‘big time’ is from the downside of technology where there is always someone trying to beat the system for their own ends, maybe devious, theft complacent or just plain evil.

When we first wrote about Joe Horn on November 27 the debate was whether Horn's actions in killing two men who had just broken into his neighbor's house in broad daylight was being either the good neighbor, protecting property or a case of cold blooded vigilantism."Don't go outside the house," the 911 operator pleaded. "You're going to get yourself shot if you go outside that house with a gun. I don't care what you think.""You want to make a bet?" Horn answered. "I'm going to kill them."Horn claims the two men were "10 to 12 feet from him in his yard" and that they "lunged at him.""Move," Horn can be heard saying on the tape. "You're dead."Boom.Click.Boom.Click.Boom.Horn redialed 911 and told the dispatcher what he'd done."I had no choice," he said, his voice shaking. "They came in the front yard with me, man. I had no choice. Get somebody over here quick." [1]Now comes word from the Pasadena, Texas police. Horn shot the two men in the back and the incident was witnessed by a
U heeft er waarschijnlijk van gehoord een man ziet bij zijn buren dat er ingebroken word . Hij pakt de telefoon en belt 911 in de video hoort u het live verslag van dit gesprek. Caluromys derbianus, or woolly opossumWe had a scary night last night. Chloe kept barking and barking. About 7:30 p.m., El Jefe got the gun and went outside to see what the problem was.Meanwhile, a neighbor came around to warn us that a home had been burglarized, that the police were there (!?), and had captured (!?) one of the thieves. The other(s) had escaped and were thought to still be in the neighborhood. When El Jefe came in to tell me about this, I had a million questions, none of which he could answer. Were the ladrones (thieves) armed? Were the neighbors at home when this happened? Did the other neighbors see or hear something and call the police? Did the other burglar(s) get away with the goods? Will the thief be released tonight or have to stay in jail all the way until tomorrow? (sarcasm)So El Jefe kept the gun close by, but Chloe continued to bark. He went outside to check it out. (Why, oh why does he have to do this? I would much prefer to stay inside and just shoot anyo
A friend of mine had a really bad experience recently. He has a villa in the Mijas area and in the early hours of the morning whilst he was sleeping, some young foreigners broke through the bars of one of his windows and got in the house. The really scary thing was that they jumped on his bed, put a knife to his throat and then tied him up. They were really after money and after spotting a safe in the house demanded that he open it. The problem was that the safe had come with the house when he bought it and he didn't have the key! Anyway, he managed to convince them that he really didn't have the key so they took his cash, an expensive watch and then drove off in his car (which was recovered the next day). This is a truly frightening experience. Imagine if it had been a woman on her own?
Here’s some good news. 96% of us will happily sail through 2008 without being burgled. But for the 3-4% who aren’t so lucky the event will be a miserable one. Few experiences are as traumatic as coming back to a ransacked home and discovering that a stranger has made off with what’s yours. So it [...]
