My favourite is this one, the quite aptly named Quadruple Bypass Burger from the Heart Attack Grill…just look at that!

Yes, another recipe using the famous Magimix 4200. My previous blender was not powerful or sharp enough to chop meat, so I was pleased to read in the instruction manual that this one is. What better way to test it out than making beef burgers. I am always a bit unsure of exactly what minced meat is really made from, and I assume it is not the best quality meat and all the left over bits. Now I
This meal was one of the more experimental things I have tried and I'm pleased to say it turned out really well. I modified the recipe for the sushi 'burgers' from here. I loved the spiciness of the burger and it even had a slightly "fishy" quality to it, but not overpoweringly so.I added shredded beets to the coleslaw for some sweetness, which complimented the savory and slightly spicy burger qui

ok ok...so shoot me, ya! when i'm not stuffing myself with cupcakes i generally eat quite healthy but when i heard from a friend about the REAL gourmet burger cafe in Dun Laoghaire i simply had to go and check it out and eat a nice healthy burger (well that's what i convincingly tell myself all the way to the restaurant - i mean how can a gourmet burger be anything but healthy!) when we arrived i
MarmoBurger from the blog Pet Marmoset gives us some Southern action:Last weekend, my wife and I were on the Alabama coast near Mobile, a place sometimes referred to as the "Redneck Riviera." We were there for her cousin's wedding and they pulled out all of the stops. The biggest ice bar I've ever seen...a $50k fireworks show...and more fresh seafood than I knew what to do with. The most brillian
I haven't uploaded any photographs of dinner this last week (and there is one in particular I'd like to share, because it really ticked me off), but I was scrolling through my drafts for something to share. I cannot believe I haven't sung from the mountain-tops about these burgers yet. Let me do so now. Ahem.Delicious but different. Knock-your-socks-off tasty. Warm and cozy. Easy to prepare. Easil
Mare returned to Austin from her Canada/North Carolina trip yesterday. We had lunch at Mighty Fine which is pretty fine but I wouldn’t say mighty fine. We had these last Saturday, May 31st as our send off to avocados for a month. I've just been busy with work, and then came down with a cold, so have been slow to getting around to posting about them. They were really good, and I was particularly happy to find a 'new' black bean burger. You see, Main Squeeze, the vegetarian restaurant here in town, used to serve a black bean burger, topped with veg

Have you ever made a cheese-stuffed burger? The most common method is to put a mound of cheese between two ultra-thin hamburger patties and pinch the sides. The downside to this approach is that if you haven't sufficiently sealed the edges of the burgers, all the melted cheese leaks out when you cook them. Also you can scald your tongue on the hot melty cheese if you're not care
TGI Friday’s have an outlet in Tsim Sha Tsui (facing the California Fitness on Nathan Road) and believe me, burgers are good there. This meal was really good. I modified the recipe from one of Chandelle's that can be found here. I basically changed the spice combination to suit our tastes and changed up the ingredients based on what we had on hand.'Burgers' are a great summer meal as you can make up a large batch, freeze what you don't use, and have yummy dinners that require the stove to be on for just long enough to cook the

Yesterday I received an email from a college student just finishing his freshman year at Dartmouth. I hadn’t heard from Alex Martinian in two years, since the spring of 2006 when he was a high school junior and I met with him in preparation for his applying to college in the fall. The email was so thrilling to me that I asked Alex’s permission to use it for my blog. He graciously s
Looking for a way to spice up a summer barbecue? Try these hamburger patties, seasoned with a homemade Jamaican jerk spice mixture of Scotch bonnet peppers, allspice, thyme, cinnamon, nutmeg, green onions, and garlic. Scotch bonnets, or their habanero cousins, are insanely hot, so you don't really need much, half a 1 1/2-inch long pepper, seeds removed. Some people substitute j

You had me at the avocado dressing. The folks at Cookthink won me over quick and easy. I am a sucker for a different, yet tasty burger. Especially one that lets me smear it with avocado goodness. What can I say, I'm a slut for them. (Avocados AND burgers, really.)I don't normally like my food salty, but it did indeed go really well with the creamy dressing - just like they said it would! We skipped the tomatoes, but I think their cool juiciness would have been a nice touch. Served with roasted red potatoes, this was a delightful dinner. My only suggestion would be to up this whole thing by half and I'll tell you why - these burgers shrink. Not one of the four burgers was very big in the end, and one was even very sadly small (but hideously cute!). So make more - or just plan on them being l

This recipe is very tasty and very easy to make on a busy weeknight. This recipe is from Ellie Krieger. She has a show on Food Network. She has great, healthy recipes that do not use far out ingredients. She actually uses lots of fresh fruits and veggies, which I love.I try to watch her show whenever I can (which is close to never!LOL).Ground turkey is a staple in my freezer and I am always looking for great recipes to use it with.I really do not use ground beef at all, unless I make spaghetti sauce or salisbury steaks for my husband. It just makes more sense, healthwise,to use ground turkey. And it is more economical as well. Current market data for February 22, 2008 shows a better environment for restaurants with menus dominated by burgers and fries. Using a pub sized portion for the burger (8 ounces) and the french fries (8 ounces), these operators have picked up 3 cents since last year. The price of soybean shortening has doubled. This unfavorable trend is offset by stable prices for frozen potatoes and ketchup and a decline in the ground beef price.Market Data from Foodservice.com (www.foodservice.com) - An Online Community for Foodservice Operators was used in creating the chart.Operators looking for greener grass in the other vegetable oil markets won't find much relief. Canola oil and corn oil are both way up since February 2007. I'm using Wenzel Menu Maker's oil-to-fries ratio of 8 pounds oil per 100 po
In light of the recent massive beef recall, many people are seriously considering becoming a Vegetarian. I'm one of them. In fact, I was a Vegetarian for several years. It wasn't until I met my husband that I converted back...
I have no idea where he picked up this lovely phrase, but every so often my 2 year old will run up to me out of the blue and say “Mommy, I see in your nose, and you got burgers!!” Burgers somehow sounds more pleasant than boogers, so I haven’t bothered to correct him. Not to mention I’m incredibly immature well-humored and it makes me giggle like mad when he says it. Giggling causes him to repeat it a few times, sending me into further fits of laughter, and he starts laughing too. Good times I tell ya.
Last night one of the older two decided they needed to correct him on it, and before you know it, Damian is running around telling us all we have boogers. I wasn’t nearly as amused by this, but he was incredibly excited about his new-found phrase. So excited he turns to our back door, opens it, stands in the doorway, and yells as loud as his little lungs will allow “I see in your nose, and you got BOOGERS!!!!”. Before I could stop him, he did it
Note: I am posting this review without picture because I had a bad experience. You can look at pictures of those allegedly "best and succulent" burgers from other blogs, links below at the end of the reviewNow I usually do my research before I do a review, and the first link that came up was Klue Blog. Sarah Chan, blogged a review of this Carl's Jr, and sang praises for the outlet in Sunway Pyramid. She totally loved it, like its the best freaking burger ever. I guess she's paid to do it, because I don't believe what Klue tells us nowadays - they are paid to say nice things....I was at MidValley's outlet, newly opened of course, with all those anticipation of this "really good" burger hype la.You can't miss it, its located on the third floor of South court of Midvalley, right smack infront of GSC's ticketing counter, and next to McD's. You know its not that we would try and pull that marketing gimmick of repackaging pop culture bits from your youth and pawning them for consumption. Sorry about that. Not even sure if these are around anymore.Seems like Gene learned that having a business partner can be a messy affair. Wikipedia sums it up:His name has been associated with fast food chain, Mean Gene’s Burgers, and a chain of pizzerias located within bowling alleys, Mean Gene's Pizza. These are owned by Hot Stuff Foods, which was headed by two of his nephews. Early in 2006, Okerlund and Hot Stuff split. Okerlund and one of the nephews were planning to start their own food company on the brands, but Hot Stuff sued, claiming they had "Mean Gene" trademarked. Okerlund lost, with the judge saying that Okerlund can't use the name "Mean Gene" for his new food company. Okerlund succeeded in cancelling the trademark registrations held by Orion, but remains enjoined from competing with Orion.Mean Gene always had a qualit
Competitive eater Joey Chestnut downed 103 Krystal burgers in 8 minutes to win the 3rd Krystal Square Off and $10,000.
Krystal is a mini-hamburger chain much like White Castle. I’ve seen them in the South Eastern part of the U.S. Don’t know how far North they go. I enjoy them equally which is to say, I don’t enjoy them at all. They upset my stomach… bad.
Anyway, Kobayashi is still out with his jaw pain (same thing that hurt him during the Nathan’s Hot Dog competition in July). Now there are 2 titles and records that Chestnut has taken away from Kobayashi. I have a feeling that when Kobayashi recovers, he will be back with a vengeance.

Florida firm recalls beef bound for prisonsTopps Meat Company is out of business and media attention to the company's huge 22-million-pound ground beef recall largely fizzled out.But the beef? It's still out there.Investigators for the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs this week purchased recalled Topps frozen hamburgers in a Union City, New Jersey store, resulting in immediate subpoenas to the store’s New York City-based distributor. The 22 million pounds of ground beef was recalled last month because it was contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 bacteria. AmericanCheese is quickly becoming one of the more daring Portland Hamburglers out there. I don't think this place can decide if it wants to be a burger, burrito, sandwich, or breakfast joint. And it looks oddly like an Mexican A&W on the inside.I think the old adage goes, if you try to do too many things, you probably can't do one thing well. Anyway, got the bacon cheeseburger. Not bad, but not great. Yellow mustard but no ketchup on the burger? Chopped romaine lettuce? Last week, I mentioned that DH and myself paid RM50 for two Carl's Junior burgers - that was shocking! Actually I wouldn't mind eating gourmet burgers or expensive burgers once a while as long as they were worth it or tasty but the Carl's Junior ones at One U were disappointing. Imagine, a family of three would end up paying more than RM50 for 3 burgers and for that price, you can have a complete meal in a restaurant like TGIF or Italiannies.
So you read about my Dot Com Pho with the guys at Pho Lan in Richmond, right? Well this time around, three days later I ended up reuniting with everyone again at Feenie's (which is located right next door to Lumiere--yes, I was there two days ago) after John asked a bunch of us to go eat $50 burgers. We all agreed--what were we thinking!!The goal today was to experience the 100% Angus beef burger at Feenie's, which comes with fries or salad for about $16. I've had this burger before and it's darn good--served medium with cheese, mushrooms, and bacon, the Angus beef patty is so juicy and tender. However, we had previously decided at the Dot Com Pho last Saturday to load up on the fixins', such as pan seared foie gras and beef short ribs (which were conveniently hidden underneath the patty), bringing the total of this burger to under $60 after a 17% autograt! Here's my burger, served with fries which also includes the various dips, such as a tasty mayo/fish sauce, dill mayo, and oth

A long long time ago I worked retail on Colorado Boulevard and frequented Crown Burgers almost daily. It’s been a while since I returned, despite now biking to work and back daily only three blocks away.
I was across the street at Moda Furniture ordering some lamps and popped into Crown Burgers for lunch. Still the same great place run by the same friendly Greek family after 20 years.
My usual order, the quarter pounder, has a unique sauce (Greek inspired,) and another favorite of of mine is the pastrami burger.
From the Westword Review:
The casual, kitschy Crown Burger has an odd Greek-American hamburger-stand menu that includes giant omelettes, cheeseburgers, fries and gyros, as well as a monster ham-and-pastrami hand grenade called the Royal Burger, all of which you can eat in or order as you drive through. That’s the best way to grab Crown’s best offering: a breakfast burrito overstuffed with ingredients taken straight from the long line of flat grills in the ga

by Donna Rivera-LoudonIts not always easy being a vegetarian. I found that most foods taste bland until you get the hang of cooking without meat. Meh. It’s nothing exciting. It’s a burger. Big woo hoo, you say, right?
But this ain’t no ground beef burger …….it’s BISON!
We love burgers, especially when grilled (who doesn’t??), but we rarely eat plain ground beef burgers preferring instead a mix of ground beef and ground turkey, straight turkey, and now, bison.
Bison doesn’t taste much different than ground beef. It does taste lighter, and more ‘beefy’ and doesn’t have much at all of the ‘fat’ taste that ground beef does. When we use ground beef, we use 93% fat free which is pretty lean, and I still think bison tastes leaner.
Ounce for ounce, bison has less fat, less calories and less cholesterol than ground beef, turkey or even chicken; a 3-ounce serving contains only 93 calories, whereas ground beef has 183, turkey- 125 and chicken- 140. Fat calories are: bison:1.8g, ground beef: 8.7g; turkey and chicken: 3.0g. Cholesterol, in order is 43mg, 55mg,
Hey folks, me and my husband both love italian food. It's a great cuisine with simple spices, delicate flavours, and an amazing use of herbs. They are a staple we always have on hand at our house. Trident adds just the right amount of herbs and
I made these for dinner last night when a certain someone with whom I've corresponded for almost 4 years, but had yet to meet, showed up at my door (en route to New England). Shock and surprise, followed by this really neat feeling of spending time with an old friend, though in essence we were really meeting for the first time and filling in those gaps that exist when communication is bereft of body language (i.e. animation, gesticulation, etc.). We had a great time, though it was measured. We had grilled veggie salad, too. I'll post that recipe next!Minted Butter4 ounces butter, softened3 tbsp chopped fresh mintBurgers2 lb finely ground lamb1 onion, finely chopped2 cloves garlic, crushed2 tbsp chopped fresh mint1 tsp paprika1 egg, lightly beatenTo make Minted Butter combine butter and mint. The European Food Safety Authority has released a human-health warning against the food coloring E128, also known as Red 2G, citing new scientific evidence of its carcinogenicity.E128 is a water-soluble, synthetic red azo dye. Once in the body, it converts into an oily substance called aniline. Rats and mice injected with aniline developed cancerous tumors, leading the EFSA panel to release a statement saying, "... it cannot be excluded that aniline's carcinogenic potential is due to damage to the genetic material of the cells," and recommended that the dye should no longer be considered safe for human consumption. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland banned the additive as of July, after the release of the findings. E128 is already banned in many other countries, including Australia, Norway, Sweden and--according to Wikipedia--the United States. The fact that the concerns about aniline's safety goes all the way back to the 1980's should tell you something abo
After tasting this Azim fellas burger at TTDI, I was so disappointed with the way the burger came out I told myself, make my own wan, see whose burger tastes better. I don’t watch cooking shows; we don’t have cable so the Food Network exists as only a hazy sliver of memory in my brain. Sure, I’ve seen some of it. I survived some boring and painful days in the hospital last summer after major surgery watching some FN shows that made me hungry for the day I could eat real food again. I am vaguely aware of the chefs on the various shows by name, not by much else. But recently I did manage to catch some of a PBS cooking program on ‘healthy living’ and watched in curiousity to see what they would talk about. Ho hum….been there, done that. It told me nothing new, but it did talk about Salmon Burgers.
Hmmm…..I can do THAT!
Once at the grocer, I couldn’t recall the brand name of the canned salmon that was used in the show, so I took a deep breath and gambled on the cheaper of the available brands- Flemings. I popped open the top and dumped the contents in a bowl, all the while crossing my fingers that I wo
ARGGGGH! I treated myself to a Bacon & Egg Burger with the lot yesterday. It was huge, it was messy & I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into it. What I did not expect was to break a tooth. Not just any tooth - one of my K-9's! All that is left is the stump. I always new I had to be careful as I have quite brittle teeth & have done well so far to keep most of them in tact. The bacon was not just crispy, it was ROCK HARD! So now until I can afford the 'expensive' trip to the dentist I fear I may never smile again. Another blow to the budget, that never seems to catch up!and then there was....

No mayo, so no worries about keeping it at room temperature. Very tasty, and pretty healthy. You could make this with whole wheat pasta and it would still taste fab. balsamic green beans. Tasty and crispy. Also pretty garlicy, so watch that. These sesame noodles are a favorite of my husbands, and he requests them at every opportunity. I throw shrimp in for protein, and he loves them. I’m sitting at my computer, the memory of this meal fresh in my mind and I find that I am unable to come up with some type of glorious adjectives to rightly describe what this tasted like. I don’t often find that I am speechless when it comes to the food I make; more often than not I can’t shut up about it to a point where my listeners eyes glaze over, they start examining their fingernails or split ends with amazing intensity or suddenly jump up exclaiming “Is that the phone I hear?” and rush off quickly. I guess some people just aren’t as passionnate about food as I am. I forgive them.
These burgers are incredible. The orange juice and brown sugar in the recipe makes for fabulous caramelization on the meat and the flavor was outrageous!! They were so good that Mike and I each had one, then split another just to taste it again. Yup, we are just a bit crazy for our food- you get no argument from me on that. The flavor was tangy, spicy, moist (YES, t
Paul and I went down to Parker this evening to have burgers at Old School Burgers, which is a reasonable facsimile of In-N-Out, bringing comfort to Paul and his entire family of transplanted Californians. Every time we’ve gone there, I’ve enjoyed my burger - but EVERY SINGLE TIME, they’ve screwed up our order. Every time! They seem to hire ONLY bored teenagers with the attention span of a flea, because EVERY SINGLE TIME we’ve ordered our fries “light,” they’ve cooked the hell out of them, and then said, “Ohhhhh, you wanted them light?” YES, rubberducker, we wanted them light, that’s why we ordered them that way. And EVERY TIME we are there, someone ends up with a cheeseburger when they asked for a hamburger, or a burger with onions when they asked for no onions, or a single instead of a double. Not such a big deal in the grand scheme of things, really. I mean, really. We’re just talking about hamburgers and fries here, n
In America men tend to do the grilling. Growing up this was never the case in my house. Mom's explanation was that Dad would get talking and forget about the food, so Mom became quite the accomplished griller! In our house the husband tends to take responsibility for the actual grilling of the food, whereas I would prepare it and any side dishes.
When we lived in the states we were lucky
AND they’re made of meat!!!
Huh?
I’m sure that someone will have sufficient evidence claiming that they have a perfect recipe for a non-meat ‘veggie’ burger that is delicious. Bring it on, I say. I love a good burger, but it’s got to have some ‘POW’ to it; I can’t just take any ol’ hunk of decimated meat, pat it religiously into a patty and toss it on my grill. That’s not a burger, it’s an easy way out. We like to keep frozen vegetarian burgers on hand for a quick and painless meal, but, baby, the weather is warm and the grill has been bored to death all winter long. It’s time to cook us some real burgers!
Long ago inspiration propelled me into tossing several rather sad excuses for vegetables into my food processor to be minced to a near paste and added to a mix of ground turkey and nearly fat-free beef to see what could transpire over a flame. The result was stupendous! I nearly dislocated my shoulder patting mys
Last night we were busy with Devon's practice, a PTA meeting and the school Spring bookfair, so dinner was a last minute decision to run by McDonald's and grab a fast burger. Apparently, quite a few others had the same idea, and it was busy for a midweek evening in Smalltown America.
We ordered our food, and it slowly began to be placed on our tray. We sorted out who got what, and we began
My grandmother (my father´s mother) was born 1883. Her name was Elin; a housewife, who took care of the children. In the past, entire generations of a family would live together in a big house and so did my family. My father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, my younger sister and I. We all lived under the same roof. This is one of my grandmother´s recipes. It originated during the 1930's or perhaps earlier. I found it in one of her cookbooks from that time. This recipe does make a lot of burgers, but they freeze well once cooked. Allow them to cool, then wrap individually in plastic wrap and place in a freezer bag.INGREDIENTS:60-65 burgers* 8 hg (800 g) pike fillets* 5 hg (500 g) minced meat (or lean beef mince, mixed half-and-half with pork mince)* 4 eggs* 6-8 cooked, cold potatoes* 1 ½ tablespoon salt* 1 teaspoon pepper* oil and butterMETHOD:1. Pass fish fillets, potatoes and meat through a meat grinder to obtain a homogenous mixture.2. Add the other ingredients and mix everythin
The other day, the foodie decided to dig through some of my vegetarian cookbooks for veggie burger recipes. After perusing a few he asked me “TVP or Walnut Oatmeal?” Although I do often really like the way textured vegetable protein works in recipes, walnut oatmeal just sounded too good to turn down. I hadn’t tried either recipe before, because despite my many recipe books, I really have never been much of a cook.
After a quick trip to the store for a few needed ingredients, the burger assembly began. When he got to the browning of the patties, I was amazed at how meaty the burgers smelled. The house filled up with their irresistible aroma and I couldn’t wait to try them.
I was definitely not disappointed when they were complete with these very flavorful burger and their nice meaty texture. They were nutty and delicious and the best veggie burgers I’ve had the pleasure to eat, which is saying quite a lot considering the many many varieties of veggie burge

Sometimes, when I unwind, it's difficult to wind back up again! Last week was really great. I had so much happen in a short time.
I started out in Puerto Rico, and ended up in LA. I had Robert Downy Jr. on my flight to Los Angeles, he looks exactly the same in person. Some of the other flight attendants said he was dressed like a slob, but I thought he looked cute with his little paper

"Hey Mom" he'll say "Remember when I had aspergers?"Aspergers, ass burgers, aspergers. I'm so sick of aspergers.I'm so sick of forgetting that I have a little boy and not just a little boy with aspergers. I'm sick of seeing him do something naughty and wondering "Is that the aspergers? Is that his medication doing that? Did I do something to set that off? How did I fail? How did he fail?" and not remembering that sometimes 6 year old boys are just naughty. I'm tired of not really knowing what's going on with Joseph becuase even though we've been told "aspergers" we know that it's really just a working diagnosis and what it really means is "there's something wrong here and this is what it probably is but maybe not because he fits A and B but not really C so who knows what in the heck is going on".I hate always feeling like my parenting is on display, with my family, with my friends, with an army of doctors and therapist. Because when you have a child with special needs
