First thing is first, I’m a big fan of the 401k and not contributing to it if your company offers it is your first big mistake in investing. Your company is giving you a raise every 2 weeks when you use it. Who doesn’t want FREE money? You’d be surprised…
So the wife [...]
I’ve been asked about credit tips a few times since starting this blog so I figured I’d knock out 2 birds (actually 4 emails) with one stone…
I’m always up for getting ahead financially when I can, and a good credit score can be a good place to start. However, I haven’t had a [...]
Ex-Eagle Freddie Mitchell is doing what he does best. Talking too much.
Even though he completely sucked as a pro, was cut from two teams, and has been out of football for 3 years, Freddie thinks he is prime for an NFL comeback. Ex-Fred had a tryout with the Toronto Argonauts(Canadian Football) last year. and he could [...]
This painting hangs in MoMA and was done by Henry Matisse, 1909. ~ One always wonders what caused the mind to come up with this theme. It seems to me a lot of male artists fantasized about women unclothed outside in groups. I personally have never come upon such a sight. Apparently they thought about it a good deal. ~ Just a couple of general housekeeping details. I made the snickery bars or whatever they were called. I mean the one's made from dulce de leche with peanuts, chocolate and shortbread. Much work involved, especially for the dulce de leche. It cooks for nearly 3 hours, and for me it was hard to find the exact right temp where it would simmer and not boil. I do not think I got it reduced enough, thus it did weep out when I cut the cookies. However it was very tasty. A small pie
For all of you that love crafts (not to be confused with Kraft like mac and cheese) there is a great site called Etsy. My friend, Lauren - aka the soap-slut - ordered some soaps from there and had nothing but great things to say about them. She’s got a nose for nice [...]
SHOCKING! I know. It kindof freaked me out when I first saw the video, and then I found some remarks about this from the owner of a lock company who said some interesting things about the topic. Here they are:1. Most any lock is vulnerable.2. Most any lock can be made safer by reconfiguring the pins or using special pins.3. There are high security locks, almost bump proof, but they may require a signature card system.Probably the biggest bit of information I got from this is that total home security is needed on top of "fixing" your locks to really make your home safe. I thought this information could be useful and benefical to all.
Keri just recently acquired her first pet, a beta fish given to her as a birthday gift by our good friend. She named it Kanea.
Watching her watch her prized fish reminded me of a conversation she and I had not too long ago.
Keri: “Why do fish live in the water?”
Me: “Why do you think they do?”
Keri: “Because if they lived on the land they would have to go bumping around on their tummies since they have no legs.”
I am glad that is not my mode of transportation.
Oh BuzzFeed you read my mind. I was just thinking about lock picking and or bumping. I’ve practiced on my own door locks but I can’t get it to work as well as the guys in these links.

A Home Security Alarm Blog (Shockingly) Says That Installing An Alarm Is Better Than Upgrading Your Locks

Wow, those really are the best 9 links I’ve seen on “Lock Bumping” or “Bump Keys”. The really hard p
One of the local tv stations here in Portland ran a story recently about "lock bumping." No, this doesn't have anything to do with locking an interest rate. It has to do with your home security and how burglars can break into homes.I couldn't find the story aired locally, but check out this "lock bumping" news story from another city. It may be worth giving your locks at home an extra look. And no, crooks aren't learning anything new; homeowners are.

It's called lock bumping and it's all over the internet. I saw this video on Theresa Boardman's www.stpaulrealestateblog.com site while reading real estate blogs the other evening and wanted to make sure you knew about this risk to your home. You won't believe what you're about to see.
Security is a serious issue. Here are some steps to consider to make your home safer against unauthorized entry:
A dog.
Good exterior lighting.
Change out your locks to bump proof locks. (Medeco is a manufacturer of bump proof locks)
Install an alarm system.

In what has become an all too common refrain from state legislatures this session, Idaho has become the latest state to consider hiking the tax on beer to meet budget shortfalls.Idaho state Sen. Joe Stegner is one of those calling for a review of the beer tax. The 6 percent excise tax has remained constant for 46 years. During the same time period the sales tax in Idaho has doubled.Sen. Stegner and others in the Idaho legislature say increases to the tax could help fund alcohol treatment programs.
