There wasn't much to see, not only because of the rain, but the fact that the town was so small: the diner, the post office, and a few small houses. Tory was alone in the diner, his boss having taken the day to go into the city. What a day to go, Tory thought. It's raining so hard he probably has been flooded out. A car screeched into the lot, a convertible, and the top was down. Two very wet young men got out and ran for the diner's door. They were probably in their early twenties, slim, and rather cute. The honey brown hair of the one boy matted against his silky skin, giving him almost a feminine appearance. The blond, by comparison, had his hair cropped short on top, and tapered on the sides. Tory spoke before he thought. "Do you always drive with the top down in the rain?" The boys, rather than bei

On Saturday morning, with no desire to cook as a result of all the cooking leading up to and on Thanksgiving earlier in the week, we accompanied Grace's parents to buffet brunch at the South Point Casino near the house. We ate so much that it really negated the need for lunch that day. It was a good thing. But was it enough? Of course not. Later, we were still not in the mood to cook, so dinner was at yet another buffet. This time it was the Season's buffet at the Silverton. Warren Buffet is an Idiot
Sometimes a person can be so wealthy that he loses touch with the common man. According to popular myth, Marie Antoinette was so divorced from the plight of the peasants that hearing they had no bread to eat, suggested "qu’ils mangent de la brioche" ("Let them eat cake"). Warren Buffet, fluctuating between being the second or third richest man in America, has informed us that he (and by extension, every rich person) pays too little in income taxes in terms of percentage. As for proof, he confessed that his effective tax rate is 17.7%. Then taking 15 volunteers from his office personnel in Omaha, Nebraska calculated that not one had an effective tax rate below 32.9%. Of course, this is all smoke and mirrors. Mr. Buffett pays exactly the same rate on the first $102,000 of income as do his employees. Since FICA taxes stop at that point, anyone making more than that amount will have a lower tax rate. But why should rich people continue paying the FICA tax on the rest of their inc

      How Warren Buffet Made Billions
Warren Buffet has made billions investing in the stock market, and is considered to be the second richest man in the world (after Bill Gates). The company he manages, Berkshire Hathaway, has the highest priced stock on the market – at just under $130,000 per share currently. His long-term buy and hold investment style is encapsulated in this quote:"Your goal as an investor should simply be to purchase, at a rational price, a part interest in an easily-understandable business whose earnings are virtually certain to be materially higher five, ten and twenty years from now. Over time, you will find only a few companies that meet these standards - so when you see one that qualifies, you should buy a meaningful amount of stock. You must also resist the temptation to stray from your guidelines

      Buffet Meals
When taking the family out to dinner, consider restaurants that have buffets. In many cases, the prices are outstanding and a parent can share with a small child. In addition, many buffets are “all you can eat” and of course, there is something for everyone.

      Buffet: Melba @ The Langham
A couple of months ago my work had a team lunch at the Melba Buffet. We each paid $28.50, which was reasonably priced (at the high end of the scale) and was quite enjoyable. Louis' Birthday came up recently and seeing as he loves seafood, I couldn't think of anything better than a buffet of seafood to feast upon. We'd already been to (and been let down by) the Conservatory, so Melba sounded like a good bet. Coincidently being Fathers' Day, reservations were scarce - we were able to book the last table they had available. The buffet price varies depending on the menu and the day of the week (and time of year). When I went with work colleagues, we paid $28.50 p/p for the full lunch buffet on a Tuesday. The Weekend Dinner price was slightly higher, at $69.50 per person. We figured we'd just eat a lot to get our money's worth.

      Smart Signboards For Buffet Tables
When I was having my breakfast in Traders Hotel, Beijing, I saw this little signboard on each table. Something they newly implemented, which I’ve never seen previously. The signboard has a red surface on one side and a green on the other. The red one says something like: This seat is occupied. And the green one says something like: I’m done. This seat is available now.Well, whenever I have my meals (buffet), I always carry my bag with me to the food bars, to prevent theft. As a result of that, the waiters can sometimes mistaken the seat as unoccupied and put another guests there, especially before you’ve started. This signboard becomes very helpful now, especially to single business travelers like me. A good idea that I think other hotels/buffet-restaurants can adopt.Ah! There is one thing to note though. As a courteous diner, one must remember to turn it to green, when finish dining, so the seat would not be ‘occupied’ forever. :) For once, I forgot to turn it until I’ve near

Orange Honey Marinade, Cold Meats & Cold Buffet
I am not wasteful. To use leftovers in the best possible way, I find pleasant. It´s an economical habit of mine to make something tasty out of leftovers. It is also a great opportunity to give proof of your creative sides. So, if you have leftovers of fillet of pork, roast pork or ribs of pork, try this marinade and use it as a sauce on the cooked meat.INGREDIENTS:* 1 orange, juice and zest* 1 clove garlic, pressed* ½ teaspoon salt* 1 tablespoon honey* 1 teaspoon Japanese Soy* 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar* basil, finely choppedMETHOD:1. Mix everything.2. Drizzle the marinade over cold, thinly sliced lean pork.3. Arrange on a serving plate. To tell the truth, you don´t need leftovers. Most supermarkets sell precooked and presliced cold meats. In July I went to reunion to meet some long lost friends (after 40 years of not seeing these people). We didn´t do our own cooking. A nearby supermarket delivered our food at an affordable price. (Cost per serving: 125 Swedish kronor = 18.389125

      Shabu Shabu Japanese Buffet
It's been N times visiting this Shabu Shabu Japanese Buffet. I'm writing this post due to past few times, I didn't manage to take some picture. Here is the 1st time when I visit this. Because TS love it so much. I'm just so so, cause I rather spend money on clothes, accesories rather then food.We 15 people went there. Arrive at 5.30pm. For me, 2 hours is very enough for me, but there is someone that could eat 2-3 person's volumn. Each of us is serve one pot, and a special sauce. I like to have my own pot rather then share with others. Here is the switch to operate. Each one have one as we own have our pot. You can control the fire to be high or low. There are alot to eat. From fish balls, to vegetables, fish meat, chichken meat, sotong, bird egg, egg, mushrooms ... etc. But this you must eat. If ala-kat is RM4 per plate. We can choose either ala kat or buffet. Ala kat is counting per plate of RM1, RM2, RM4 and RM6. Like you go sushi king to eat sushi. But its worth more to eat buffet

Lone Windex Bottle Patrols Bathroom Ineffectively at Super Buffet
Super Orient Buffet4525 S Semoran BlvdOrlando, FL 32822Phone: (407) 380-5583Where is it?From the front entrance, head to the back wall of place, staying to the right of the buffet tables. You’ll see a small doorway there (a little hard to spot amid the continuous stretch of wood paneling covering the walls, mind you, but not impossible) to the right of the double doors leading to the kitchen -- the bathrooms are there. What’s it like?Though still popular with people from the neighborhood (and those willing to venture a few miles north of the airport to get something to eat that isn't chain-restaurant based), this once decent locals buffet now stands as one of the city's lesser Oriental eateries, with a wide, all-you-can-eat menu of flatly fried foods, off-tasting noodle and rice dishes and an assortment of other sketchy items that probably should be left at bay on your go-arounds. (Granted, I was in the minority on this -- most of the people there, and there were many -- were havi

Pariss International Seafood Buffet at Marina Square
Happy 27th Birthday 18 days ago! Geez! Of course not silly! It is sooo not my birthday yet (but my birthday is around the corner, so do remember my present). And I am sooo not 27 years old! Though I'm somewhat considered an adult (IceAngel loves reminding me that), I'm still within the early 20'er group. *Phew* How I wish I could go to never never land... Oh well, I still have a couple of years to learn the works of being an actual adult-adult. It's such a pity that humans have to grow old up. Sigh. Why does time go by so quickly? /me taking a walk through memory lane... I still remember the days when I didn't have to worry when my next pay cheque would arrive. Money was important, but I didn't really have to earn it, I had my allowance to sustain my so-called materialistic expenses. Life was so much simpler... School... Homework... Projects... Exams... Grades... Friends... Shopping... Gaming... Fun? It seems like just yesterday... /me slap myself to wake up from my "day dream"..

      Golden Jaguar Best Buffet
It was plain Gluttony. With so many choices, who wouldn’t want to try everything out even if it won’t even fit inside your stomach? Ahhhh….I was astounded by the variety of food inside Golden Jaguar. It’s located at the end of Wangfujing road. We waited for an hour that day (don’t know if it’s because it was Valentines). We thought that there won’t be much food left since it’s past 12nn but to my surprise, the food was still overflowing. From salmon, steaks, lambs, beef, prawns, tuna, oysters, crabs, roasted duck…almost everything you can imagine. Drinks were free flowing, that includes alcoholic ones. My favorite part was the dessert section! UNLIMITED HAAGEN DAZ ICE CREAM! Honestly, I haven’t tasted any Haagen Daz ice cream until that time. The macadamia nut flavored one was my favorite. It was just at the rate of RMB 180 during lunchtime but the rate jumps to RMB 210 for dinner! For me, it’s value for

Aktier: Kan du vælge aktier som Warren Buffet?
Inden 15. august vil Warren Buffet-selskabet Berkshire Hathaway offentliggøre sine aktie-beholdninger for 2. kvartal.

Eating the Breakfast Buffet at the Best Western Niagara
Wow, when you're not working and on vacation, it's definitely hard to set aside some time to blog! Anyways, as promised I am going to fulfill my duties (thanks to all of you who voted in my scientific mini-poll) and post the rest of my Korea adventure and more.So right now we're holed up at the Best Western Niagara. When we saw the setup for a buffet we inquired at the front desk. They told us it was 11,000w ($11USD) per person for the "western breakfast buffet" so we were pretty curious as to what would be offered. Here is a picture of the buffet setup without food (this was taken the night before):You're probably wondering why they call this hotel the Best Western Niagara. Well, this should answer your question--it's a waterfall type thingy in the main lobby of the hotel, right where the seating is for the restaurant. I really felt like I was at the Niagara Falls believe it or not! Honest, really! ;)The buffet hours were from 7am-10am. We planned on eating at 8am but that didn'

Warren Buffet about money and success
There was a one hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the second richest man who has donated $31 billion to charity. Here are some very interesting aspects of his life: He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late! He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers. He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha

Bloomberg-Schwarzenegger in 2008? Buffet thinks so
Can Warren Buffet pick politicos like he can pick stock? That seems to be on every Democrats mind as Clinton and Obama are reportedly clamoring for his attention. The belief is that whoever holds the blessing from the Oracle of Omaha, holds the nomination. Would Buffet rather see a dark horse take a swipe at the Presidency though? From the Associated Press: Buffett helped Clinton pull in at least $1 million at a New York fundraiser last month, and has said he would do the same for Obama later this year. But in a recent Time magazine interview, he also said he dreamed of a Bloomberg-Schwarzenegger presidential ticket. “That would be one hell of a team, wouldn’t it?” he said. I have the utmost respect for Buffet as an investor, and I feel that he has some valid taxation arguments like those he laid out at the recent Clinton Fundraiser. However, while he does have a lot of money and there is no doubt that people listen to him, by no means will he guarantee a Democratic v

      Arandas Mexican Buffet
Fairfield loves their buffets. Actually it’s not just Fairfield, it’s the Midwest I’ve noticed. I’ve always hated buffets, mainly because it was usually a sign of bad food - quantity over quality. However, once in awhile you find a buffet that actually is delicious (as well as plentiful), especially here in Fairfield. My wife recently discovered Arandas Mexican Buffet, which is inside a gas station convenience store across from Everybody’s grocery store. It’s an unlikely place for good food - being in a convenience store that is. After eating there about four times she revealed her secret to me and now I’ve been taking the ScribeStorm development team there for our Friday lunches, and will continue to do so until they tell me to stop. The buffet is split into two tables: Table 1 The Arandas buffet serves fresh, chunky guacamole, and lots of it - none of the creamy grey-green guacamole here. [Note: someone could open up a “Mexican”

Buffet pays less tax than his cleaner....
Warren Buffet has blasted the US tax system because he says that he pays less tax on his earnings than his secretary or his cleaner. I take his point and if I was worth $53bn I wouldn't mind paying a little more tax either, I mean how many Lamborghini's can you own? However, I worry that because we are living in the information age that reports of private equity billionaires and dot.com
