Moonkin Druid / Rogue 2v2 Video: Buddhist and Lewt
For those of you that have been even vaguely aware of the rogue community then the name Buddhist should sound very familiar. Previously Buddhist has been known for his humorous videos, but I hope his most recent release is a sign of things to come. Without question, this is one of the best moonkin / rogue 2v2 videos I've seen. In addition to be quite entertaining, Buddhist has included textual commentary throughout the video. These notes, though brief, give a some great insights into each strategy on a team by team basis. If you're having some trouble really finding success with druid / rogue 2v2 I'd strongly suggest checking out this video. It's got great pointers and a wide variety of matchups. read more

Jatukam Buddhist magic bubble is bursting
To the list of speculative market bubbles popping around the world, add this: Thai religious talismans. The talk is about so-called Jatukam-Ramathep-Amulets with magic Buddhist powers, originally only from one temple in Nakhorn Sri Thammarat. As Phuket, my home, is not very far from this Souithern Thai city, a lot of the elder male generation here bought such amulets and many are wearing them. I personally think the Jatukam Amulets with their inscriptions from (Hindu) mythology and oversized format look rather gaudy, and Buddhist magic has little place in my personal understanding of Buddhism -- but who am I to tell the Thai people about Buddhism? The popularity of the amulets, known as Jatukam Ramathep, goes back about two decades. Depending on who tells the story, they are named after eit

However, it does highlight the fact that monks are people too! If you are ever in Thailand (or anywhere for that matter), do NOT be afraid to talk to monks. If they are free, they are quite happy to share a cup tea (or cigarette?) with you and have a conversation.I'll be spending the next three days at Wat Pa Pai in Doi Saket. Enjoy your day!

What Matters Most In Our Buddhist Practice
“Be diligent in developing your faith until the last moment of your life, otherwise you will have regrets. For example the journey from Kamakura to Kyoto takes twelve days. If you travel for eleven but stop with one day remaining how will you admire the moon over the capital?  No matter what…keep learning…the principles of Buddhism, and continue your journey of faith. (WND-1 p. 1027)  If I had to narrow it down to the one single most important thing, I would say simply this, “Never Give Up…No Matter What”.  Absolutely the key ingredient to a successful practice of Buddhism is the development and maintenance of firm faith with a never give in and never give up attitude until and beyond our final moment of life.   Over the course of many years of Buddhist practice I have encountered and overcome many obstacles and challenges. Even to this very day I am confronted with my greatest obstacles and challenges of all. If it were not for my firm resolve I would be the f

      Myanmar Troops Occupy Buddhist Monasteries
Myanmar troops swept into Buddhist monasteries, sealed off areas by locking gates, and placing barbed wire around many religious centers in their efforts to halt further protests against the military junta which controls Burma. There are reports at least ten people are dead although exiled Burmese believe the figure might be much higher. Southeastern Asian diplomats have urged the Burmese military to compromise and avoid bloodshed, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Asian observors witnessed hundreds of people beaten with batons, herded onto trucks and arrested where they most probably face further beating and torture in prisons. Southeast Asian diplomats expect that once the monks are contained in the monasteries, the military junta will turn its attention toward protestors who were shouting, “give us freedom.” Unfortunately, in the absence of pressure or actions from the outside world, those who shouted will face brutality and torture.

Intuition, buddhist monks and Van Morrison with Astral Weeks
"A man's errors are his portals of discovery," Irish writer James Joyce once said. Thats from a very interesting article at Spiegel Online about the brain and how brain reacts on error and how we learn from them. The error system acts in two ways. First, it intervenes in a corrective way when a person has committed an error. But it also has a warning capability. When it recognizes that an action may not lead to the desired outcome, this recognition is expressed in a vaguely uneasy feeling. But what is the best part is the title: Have Scientists Discovered Intuition? Intuition - thats the most valuable capacity or attribute. If you have a strong intuition and let it guide you in life, both in relations and job and education and a lot of other choices in life, you will be a winner. I think. Always when I go against my intuition I lose. Always. For example: I meet a new person and really feel bad about this person. I cant say why, just feel that she is trying to be more tha

      Kinkara - Buddhist Deity
Kinkara are special Dharma Protectors for practitioners of Heruka and Vajrayogini. They are emanations of Heruka and Vajrayogini who emanate as skeletons. This appearance of being devoid of flesh symbolizes that enlightened beings are completely free from self-cherishing. This deity resembles Bhairav or nagadevatas or Brahmarakshasa (Kshetrapala - Area protector) who actually is installed nearby a temple to protect the area of surroundings.shaligram, thatvamassi, yogasamvit, dhyanfoundation, soundtravels, omstream, aboutastro, sivababa, Devshoppe, adayinthelight, mantra, yantra, tantra, yoga, ayurveda, healingsindia, ambientedirect, sivababa, real-mindpower-secrets, Yogahealthguide, yogabusinesscoach, absoluteyogasamui, shaligram, raja-yoga, acloset, quantumtouch, rudraksha, gemstones, temples, varanasi, shri yantra, shri chakra, japa mala, shanka, puja, astrology, numerology, vastu, jyotish

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant - the great Buddhist novel
The problem is that when I read just about any novel it seems like a Buddhist novel, however I think Thomas Covenant is particularly apt.The rather unwilling hero, Thomas Covenant, finds himself thrust into a strange world called The Land. He is convinced that the whole thing is just a dream and is thus unreal. However, no amount of telling himself that the events are unreal allows him to act as though they were unreal. The Land feels real. The people in it are (with very few exceptions) heroically open in the generosity and emotions. Covenant is a tortured soul: in the 'real' world he is a leper, shunned by his neighbours and abandonned by his wife.In one of the most famous Tibetan Buddhist texts, which deals with the experiences during the death process, the dying person is reminded that all the images of gods and daemons are simply creations of the mind. This does not make them unreal, because the person seeing them is affected by them as though they were real. Indeed the c

      Buddhist caves found in Java
27 August 2007 (Jakarta Post) - A story about a remote cave in Java containing a rich set of bas-reliefs depicting Buddha’s journey. This unique cave, believed to be the only one in the world, is dated approximately 800 years old. In this period, much of Java (still part of the Srivijayan empire) was Buddhist. Sadly, there have also been some reports of statues in the caves gone missing. East Java cave depicts Buddha’s journey The road running along the hill in Jireg village, Bondowoso, East Java, is deserted. Once in a while, a motorbike breaks the silence. In this arid and rocky area far from the noise of the island’s cities, is a cave containing what could be some of the most important carvings in Indonesia. Indonesia’s Theravada Buddhists believe the cave, known locally as Gowa Buto, “giant” in Madurese, contains the reliefs in the cave, which depict Buddha’s journey, are the most complete set in the world. Pilgrims flock to India for Buddhist ‘dragon’ celebration
Pilgrims from as far a field as Malaysia and Mexico have flocked to India’s isolated region of Ladakh this week for celebrations to mark 800 years of the “dragon” sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The events have included hours of chants and prayers around the 44-year-old Gyalwang Drukpa, the head of the Dragon lineage, plus a more contemporary song contest inspired by his motto, “Live to Love.” “It was like love at first sight,” said pilgrim Trent Williamson, who embraced the faith after meeting the Gyalwang Drukpa in Williamson’s native Australia.
