A 20-story office tower is set to move forward and further change Buckhead’s skyline. This $175 million project, called Phipps Tower, will sit on 3 acres across from the Ritz-Carlton on the Buckhead Loop.
The developers have decided to follow the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System on this project.
Phipps Tower has been registered with the U.S. Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification. The building will feature energy-efficient air and lighting systems, water and plumbing conservation systems, and enhanced air-quality measures."Phipps Tower is representative of the high quality, customer-focused and sustainable design for which Crescent Resources projects are best known," says Patrick Henry, senior vice president and chief development officer for the Charlotte-based developer's commercial division.

I have to say that I was a bit sad to say goodbye to the Three Dollar Cafe in Buckhead. I had a memorable beer or two or ten there in the old days. However, out with the nostalgia and on with progress and growth. The Streets of Buckhead developers just announced they were hopping across the street and building a hotel on the 2 acre site at Peachtree Road and Pharr Road which was once Three Dollar Cafe.
The Hotel Monaco will begin construction in late 2008 and will be ready in March of 2010 and will consist of 283 guest rooms. Also attached to the hotel, as you can see in the rendering above, is a separate 300,000 square foot office tower called Buckhead Esplanade. The tower will also have 55,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
The Hotel Monaco is the 2nd confirmed hotel in the Streets of Buckhead mixed use project.

Construction will soon begin on One CityPlace, a 29 story residential tower with 269 condominium units and 11 townhomes. The price tag will be around $300,000 to start and venture into the $1,000,000’s. One CityPlace is another Cousins project and will sit on the corner of Roxboro and East Paces Ferry in Buckhead. Construction is expected to be completed in 2009.
This tower is just the first phase of CityPlace Buckhead, a 16 acre development consisting of 3,800 homes near the Buckhead Loop, Georgia 400, Peachtree Road and Lenox Road.

And it surprises and makes me happy that this news continues a trend on this blog of “green building”.
It turns out that one of the hotels will be a “green hotel”. Barry Hotel Partners is partnering to develop 1 Hotel & Residences, a 175 room luxury hotel with 100 condo units a spa and a restaurant within. They’ll start this portion of The Streets of Buckhead sometime in 2008 with a completion date set at 2010.

Condos and a stylish boutique hotel will be built in the center of Buckhead where partiers used to whoop it up into the wee hours of the morning. Barry Hotel Partners and Starwood Capital Group Global LLC on Friday will jointly announce plans to develop 1 Hotel & Residences, a brand that's new to Atlanta. Barry also is developing Allen Plaza, a nine-block area downtown. Carter developed the Mall of Georgia in Buford and is shepherding The Streets of Buckhead's retail development. The Streets of Buckhead eventually will have hundreds of condos and hotel rooms, plus office and retail space, according to Carter's plans.
The Buckhead real estate market is the quintessential area in Atlanta that represents high end luxury real estate. Buckhead real estate has long been favored because of the location, shopping, dining and several of the top Metro Atlanta Schools; Morris Brandon, Sarah Smith and Jackson. Buckhead is home to many of the most renowned luxury Atlanta neighborhoods and consists of some of the most popular real estate available anywhere in Atlanta. Location, history and convenience make up the city of Atlanta’s most famous neighborhood of Buckhead. Having said that, I really am not sure why it took me so long to make my Buckhead Real Estate webpage. But now it’s finished and I hope that it is helpful to real estate buyers and sellers. I’m one of those folks who believes that having a fabulous sauce or seasoning at your disposal can absolutely MAKE a meal. It’s that well-stocked kitchen philosophy. Case in point? The fabulous sauces offered by Buckhead Gourmet. I have been a loyal fan of these folks since I first met them at my neighborhood Costco a couple of years ago. Since then, I’ve used these at home, bought them for teacher gifts, and included them in wedding gift baskets. I snagged the picture of their onion relish, because my husband’s favorite dish is grilled pork chops with this relish on top!
The site has a number of recipes, but I’m a big fan of just using the grilling sauces on pork chops, chicken, and fish.
