When we woke up this morning, my Hubby invited us to have Malaysian Indian breakfast in town. It's either he's missing home or he just crave for the real Indian food ( curry, roti, tosai and etc). The reason why I wrote real is because I can also cook Indian food but I have my own version. That's why we call it PinDian Food ( Pinoy Indian). Sunday brunch doesn't have to hit your diet panic button. If you're going out with the girls, take the sensible approach: moderate your intake of things like breads, booze and creamy sauces. Ask for the egg-white omelet or the fresh fruit. Or, host your own Sunday brunch and serve Garlicky Tomatoes With Ricotta and Arugula on Multigrain Toast1 tablespoon olive oil1 tablespoon minced garlicSalt and

Buckley’s Tavern, a bar and restaurant located in a historic former house on Kennett Pike in Centreville, Delaware, offers nice atmosphere for a variety of purposes. The dark, cozy bar is a great place to get some drinks, the downstairs dining room (with fireplace) offers a charming ambiance for lunch or dinner, and the rooftop deck is great when the weather gets nice. Buckley’s also has an interesting brunch policy—dine in your pajamas, and you get ½ off the bill. Enticing, but neither of us did it. Jeff’s Take:I started off with a bowl of mushroom soup—a generous portion of mushrooms with leeks and tomatoes in broth. I’m a big mushroom fan, but I found this soup to be pretty boring. The broth was salty and unimpressive, and after I finished scooping out the mushrooms it wasn

My blog likes to masquerade as a food blog. I snap blog photos of my food so often, the posts should probably have their own label. But food is such an essential part of New York City culture, you cannot become a New Yorker without simultaneously becoming a foodie ... and a wine aficionado ... and a cocktail connoisseur. And you add a "brunch budget" to your monthly expenses.Food and drink are a defining - if not symbolic - part of most societies, but it's the diversity of authentic cuisine within the five boroughs that makes New York distinct.Today I joined my girlfriends for Easter brunch at L'Orange Bleue in Soho, where I ordered the Omelette Maxime and a mimosa from their brunch menu. A lazy Sunday afternoon passed us by as we enjoyed our usual brunch conversation: politics (a few joke
This Easter Sunday, we met friends for a casual brunch at Maracas on Greenwich Avenue. We had a lot of catching up to do. As they're good friends, they didn't seem to mind too much that I started playing with the plastic animals that the restaurant festively floats in many of the drinks. I put my camera directly on the table, cut the flash and pointed in various directions. I thought these images weirdly cool enough to pass along. My friend Stephanie introduced me to some new running buddies who are actually more in to brunch than running but hey, can't blame them. We met at Engineer's Gate and ran the inner loop (4 miles) in Central Park so that we could justify our brunch so soon after Thanksgiving feasting. Karen recommended Taco Taco Taco Tacobased on reading some reviews on Yelp.com and we were all happy with the pick. As one reviewer mentioned, you would never think a place with such a name could be the real deal.Their brunch menu was so exciting; so many items I wasn't familiar with. I'm used to reading menus that read soft tacos, hard tacos, burritos, fajitas, or salads. Then choose beef, pork, chicken, or vegetarian, and sometimes shrimp. At Taco Taco, there was a wide variety of omelets, all the standard fair, and then at least five dishes I hadn't heard of. Unfortunately, I can't remember any other than the one I ordered, but the Cazuela was so good. It's a baked dish with tortilla, black beans

What a lazy Saturday morning! Where would you go for a simple breakfast? I think I am getting sophisticated on foods nowadays. So going to Tai Thong for a brunch is something unusual in my life. This “unlucky” friend in PJ was called to company me to review Tai Thong’s dim sum and foods.
It was extremely crowded inside the restaurant at 11am. Most tables already filled with big families and we were lucky enough to get a table in a nice section.
Ok… let see the mouth-watering dim sum and foods

Kasi recommended Punch Punch a long time ago but for some reason I never got around to going. Well, I should have gone earlier since I really enjoyed my brunch this past Sunday and since it's close by, it's the perfect safety spot. Punch isn't going to blow your mind but they hit a couple of key points for a good brunch place:1. Good Coffee - I hate letting a good brunch get spoiled by bad coffee. Punch not only serves a good tasting cup of coffee but refills your cup often.2. Good Quick Breads - Most brunch spots offer muffins or a banana bread, or biscuits while you wait. Right after being seated, we were greeted with a basket of warm (extra points) mini-muffins. I tried a banana mini muffin and it was a good texture with real banana flavor.3. Diverse Menu - Girls love brunch but that means we'll also get bored of standard brunch menus. It's always great to see some more innovative items or twists on the classics. For example, Punch lists a Lamb Burger, a Chorizo Hash, and Lobst

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your indie business.Well, ever since I was little, I’ve always wanted “ to be an artist” and took art classes as a child at the Rhode Island School of Design. In college, I got my B.A. in Fine Arts (concentrating in silkscreen design) and then was very fortunate to have a number of jobs using my silkscreen knowledge. I worked in a couple of the Smithsonian Institution’s museums as an Exhibits Specialist and then as the matter and framer in the National Gallery of Art. Becoming my “own boss” however, didn’t come about until several years later when I met my husband (a gemologist and author of several books on the subject ).Thanks to my husband, I was introduced to both the world of beads and oddly enough to the inner workings of computers( as he owned a computer company at the time ). One thing led to another and through a lot of networking and creative processes, I developed my two lines of jewelry – Beadles and Three Ring Cir

From the Trib:
So I'll say it: The Reds made a good move. You know, if winning's your thing.
It's interesting how, aside from his odd decision to pull Carlos Zambrano after 85 pitches in Game 1 of the Arizona playoff series, Lou Piniella is regarded as something of a baseball genius for getting 85 victories out of a franchise that won 66 games the season before under Baker.
Never mind that many believed the Cubs had the most talent, by far, in the National League Central this year.
Never mind that the Cubs spent gobs of money on players for Piniella.
Or, for that matter, that the Cubs won 88 and 89 games in Baker's first two seasons at Wrigley Field.
Piniella is a savant!
And Baker, who got his 2003 club closer to the World Series than any Cubs team in almost 60 years, is perceived as a loser, a punch line, chump change.
You still can hear the moaning lon

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your indie business.I’ve been designing jewelry for about five years now, but my passion for the craft came about unexpectedly. At the time, I was living in Santa Monica and took a trip back to my hometown of Portland, Oregon. On a momentary whim, my dad took me into a shop called Ed’s House of Gems. I became infatuated with the intrinsic beauty of the stones, so I bought about ten strands to fool around with. At first, I was just making gifts for friends and family. After a while though, I realized that this was something I wanted to try and grow. I’ve since sold my work at art galleries and shows, in boutiques, and early this year I was able to expand to my own on-line boutique. 2. Many years ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Teresa’s Café – a casual, Italian/American BYO located in the heart of the Main Line community of Wayne, PA – was among my semi-regular stops for casual business lunches. In the subsequent years, I’d more or less forgotten about the place, as my regular dining orbit now more naturally revolves around Philadelphia itself. However, the name had resurfaced of late in the context of its new sibling, Teresa’s Next Door (TND), a Belgian style bar and bistro. The original Teresa’s remains a BYO for wine but patrons now have the ability to stop in next door for a beer, cocktail or for alternate and late night meal options. With a friend in for a Sunday visit, we called TND to confirm that they’re open for lunch and then headed on over.In concept, Teresa’s Next Door is clearly Wayne’s answer to Philadelphia’s Belgian stalwarts like Monk’s Café and Eulogy. The bottled beer list is biblical in proportion, focusing primarily o

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your indie business. I've always been fascinated by the "finished product." The process of taking raw materials and turning them into something tangible and functional is so inspiring; the fact that a big chunk of clay can be morphed into a beautiful bowl is just so cool. Plays With Mud is a collection of all the things I love to make. Pottery, belts, paper goods ... you name it, I've probably made it. Right now, I make a lot of custom gifts for people. I love it when someone comes to me and asks if I could make a birthday gift for their friend, or a Christmas present for their mom. It totally makes my day! 2. Where are you located? Plays With Mud is in the growing township of Fort Mill, South Carolina, just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. 3. How did you come up with your business name? I wanted something that was fun and playful ... not too serious but still indicative of the products that I create. At the time I came up with

Pol: ..................

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your indie business. My name is Cherie and I make a sinfully yummy fudge that is packaged in a jar and eaten with a spoon, aptly called "Spoon Fudge." This is the second business I've started and I'm having a boatload of fun working my way through the food industry. I have a husband, Joe, and a 15 year old son, Timothy, who both are an immense help in the running of this business. Timothy is the one who labels and packages all the product and Joe handles the shipping side of the things. I'm left with the actual making of the product. My husband and I also run a web development firm from home - this is our "real" job and it allows us to get away as needed to run the fudge business. 2. Where are you located? We are currently in Tucson, AZ but are looking forward to a change of scenery and are planning to relocate in Seattle, WA this fall or next spring. Our families are in the general area there and my fudge will be much happier away from the h
When I lived in the South End, there were numerous options for brunch on Sunday mornings: Garden of Eden, Aquitaine, Tremont 647, and my personal favorite Metropolis Cafe. It was at Metropolis that I found the best orange juice next to fresh squeezed.Quick aside for the OJ - Natalie's Orchid Island orange juice is what they serve at Metropolis. I used to go religiously and order that stuff, one day while sitting at the bar area and having my breakfast, I asked the waitress if i could see the juice jug. I read the label and promptly went home and googled the name. Then I emailed the company to find out where I could buy it. Answer: Trader Joe's. Believe me, it's awesome stuff.Back to the topic of brunch. After moving from the south end, it's been slim pickins in terms of places i could walk to closeby. Last week I walked over to The Paramount in Beacon Hill with some friends. It was my first time eating there and I will say that it was pretty good. If you've never been

I had brunch at Sarabeth's Sarabeth's (East) with a great group of TNT-ers today after our Saturday morning run. I had dinner at the UWS location Sarabeth's (West) a couple of years ago and was quite disappointed. The brunch was much better which make sense since that is what Sarabeth's is known for.
As soon as you're seated, coffee comes around and is constantly refilled (same with water). I

I slept in later than I intended, so here are your late morning headlines. Cubs pledge to roll ball to homeplate 12 times against Rangers
You don't want #600 against us, do you?
From the Daily Herald:
“I definitely have no intentions of giving up his 600th,” said Cubs pitcher Ted Lilly, who is scheduled to start the series finale on Thursday afternoon. “It’s motivation for me to keep him at 599.”
Signing Sosa was a low-risk gamble that has paid off for the Rangers, who inked the 38-year-old slugger to a minor-league deal last winter. Though Sosa is hitting just .246 (56-for-228) with 64 strikeouts, he has delivered in the clutch. He leads the Rangers with a .354 batting average with runners in scoring position, 14th best in the American League.
Sosa has 11 home runs and 15 doubles in 60 games this season, and his 51 RBI tie him with Florida’s Miguel Cabrera for 11th in the major leagues. Lee leads the Cubs with 36 RBI.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your indie business. If someone had asked me 10 years ago if I ever saw myself as an entrepreneur I would’ve either curled up my nose or stared blankly at them. Now that I’ve begun my journey on this path I can’t imagine myself not doing it. It’s the most challenging yet rewarding thing I’ve ever done. I started bōbē just over a year ago from very humble beginnings but it’s slowly evolving and I have big plans for the year ahead. The packaging & labels are being recreated, new products will be added to the line & I’m making a point of getting out into the community as much as possible. I want to be able to provide a “choose your own adventure” for bath & body products. The products are to be quality items, at an affordable price while maintaining a professional appearance.2. Where are you located? Saskatoon, SK Canada3. How did you come up with your business name? The name bōbē (pronounced “beau-bee”) happened b

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your indie business. I have a really thick Boston accent and get the classic head tilt from people when I am in conversation with them. I can be silly, shy and outgoing all within two minutes and most definitely outrageous but never in church! I don't have any brothers or sisters but I do have a HUGE family which is awesome; my family are my best friend’s and my best friend’s are my family. My business was never supposed to include body care products, only massage oils for my private massage therapy practice. Boy oh boy that has all changed. Now I make over 5 different scrubs, three different lotions and a boat load of bath teas, bath salts and bath bombs. I am big on using paraben free preservatives in all my skin & spa products. Many products are Vegan, organic and 100% natural. The best part is naming the product and getting feed back from my customers. 2. Where are you located? I am surrounded with cranberry bogs (Ocean spray head
Brunch at Bobby Flay’s Bar Americain was just what the doctor ordered after a crazy New York City night on the town. Kai, Reggie, and I met up with bachelor Chris and his friend Brian at the restaurant. They had already ordered a few cocktails to ease their hangovers. I started with a cappuccino and the delicious breads and flavored butter they brought us (so good we asked for a second basket).
The restaurant seemed about half full at 12:30 pm, which may have been a reflection of the holiday weekend. As I took in the interior design, I was reminded of the Food Network’s short documentary on the opening of the restaurant (as it was built very quickly - a few months max). I especially liked the amount of natural light coming in through all the windows, as well as the gigantic mirror over the bar.
I ordered the Shrimp and Grits with Bacon, Scallions and Garlic (pictured first). It was extremely rich and delicious. The rest of the table split a second order of it. Fo

"Shall we partake in libations?"That was Jamario last night after an amazing dress rehearsal of Drama Group 36's showcase, in which every actor broke many, many legs. The Juilliard seniors will take their showcase from New York City to Los Angeles over the next few weeks, and I'm looking forward to following the careers of my (bias-based) favorite Juilliard class. But for that moment, it was Easter, it had been a long week for all, and the night was ours.I had joined Tokii, Jamario and his girlfriend Stephanie for Easter brunch yesterday afternoon at Mobay Uptown, a Caribbean restaurant in the heart of Harlem. You know a restaurant is good when you're looking over the menu and already planning the next meal for your inevitable return. I love coming upon the hidden treasures of the city. The almost clandestine entrance - that one might easily overlook - conceals a dimly-lit, rich ambiance creating a trendy and comfortable chill spot suitable for a formal brunch or a casual evening wi
I performed for Easter Brunch at the Virginia Country Club, a location that I perform for several holidays throughout the year. Always a nice place to be, such great staff and well organized events. And the food! I could go on and on…
The Easter Bunny was kind enough to take time out from playing with the kids to pose for a picture!
Yesterday my golf-fanatic partner and his golf teacher buddy were watching the Masters Golf Tournament on television when they became hungry for brunch. So the three of us dashed down to the Big Wave Cafe in Kihei where we found front row seats, and they continued watching the tournament. Such is life living with a golfer. On a side note, if any golfers coming to Maui want to avail themselves of the services of an excellent golf teacher, our golf teacher friend will be on Maui until May. Just leave an email or comment, and I'll attempt to hook you up with him.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your indie business.I began in 1995 making silk wedding flowers (after making them for my own wedding) and brochures. I began cake decorating in 1997, baking has always been relaxing for me. Decorating cakes is a creative outlet for me. They not only look amazing they taste amazing. I have always enjoyed web design and began doing that in 1997 as well as logo design. In 2000 I wanted to make soap for my family for Christmas but all that was available locally were some kits that were not the best quality. So I hit the internet and started searching. I found a wonderful fragrance oil vendor yahoo group that was offering classes. The first class was a cream class and I was hooked and that is how our Bath and Body line began. It has blossomed considerably since 2001. My jewelry line was created in the fall of 2006 while recuperating from surgery for Uterine Cancer. I needed something to do during the 8 week recovery time and jewelry making helped
