It appears the Cleveland Browns have made some important off-season moves. They got a deal done with starting quarterback Derek Anderson for 3 years. Of course this raises questions about Brady Quinn’s future with the team but for a team on the cusp of the playoffs last year they absolutely had to get Anderson signed. After struggling at the quarterback position for years it would have been the height of folly to go into the year relying on Brady Quinn, regardless of his potential, after Anderson played so well for much of the year. I doubt both these guys will be with the team after next year. Odds are Quinn will get enough playing time this year for the Browns to make an evaluation. Anderson stayed healthy all year last year. Chances are he won’t this year. They also signed wide recei

Sounds like newly hired Miami Dolphins VP Bill Parcells is hitting the ground running on personnel decisions early. According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com and verified by a league source, Parcells has current Cleveland Browns head coach Romeo Crennel on top of his list as the Dolphins’ next head coach.
That wouldn’t be a bad hire, especially considering that it wasn’t long ago when Crennel was on the hot seat up in Cleveland before the team reversed its fortunes. And assuming that Parcells was able to hire Crennel, there is that little issue that involves transactions, such as these: compensation. Crennel is under contract for 2 more years, and don’t think the Browns will just let Crennel leave without getting something back in return. But I’d imagine that Parcells already knows this (and probably Huizenga as well).

- Wow, is this weather nasty or what? I touched on the weather during today's show on Dawg Pound Radio, and it has only gotten worse. The wind is on a tear off the lake, and the snow continues to fall. The field is so snowy, that there was a minute-and-a-half delay while the referees tried to find the 50 yard line to spot the ball.
- Jamal Lewis is a stud in the snow. He's already broken off a couple big runs, and has 80 yards and is averaging 5.3 yards per carry at the half. During the Browns' last drive of the half, J-Lew went over the 1,000 yard mark for the 6th time in his career.
- The Browns have not been afraid to throw in the bad weather, and it's definitely paying off. Braylon Edwards has made a couple spectacular c

It wasn't the prettiest of victories, but the Browns will take it as they remain in playoff contention and move past the Jets 24-18 yesterday at Giants' Stadium.
Despite a few hiccups, Cleveland's defense was able to bear down in clutch moments - including a heart (and Jet) stopping goal line stand to start the second quarter that was capped off by a Sean Jones interception in the end zone.
Jamal Lewis put the proverbial "nail in the coffin" with a 31-yard rumble, shedding several Jets defenders on his way to the end zone, and Joe Jurevicius was able to recover 2 of 3 onside kicks for the Browns to hang on.
That's all for now, but be sure to check in later, as I'll be posting my full review of the action this evening.

On Sunday, the Cleveland Browns played against the New York Jets. The Browns have been placed as a 3.5 point favorite against the New York Jets. This is for the first time in a few weeks that the Browns will not be allowed to play with the highest over/under in the NFL as football experts have made the total point score 47.5.
Now that I've wiped a bit of egg from my face in picking the Browns to handily (based on the score) beat the Cardinals, here's the game in review:
1st Quarter:
The game began with a miscue, when Derek Anderson - unpressured - threw the ball away to the left side. He was called for intentional grounding, and the Browns had already set off on the wrong foot. After what appeared to be the beginnings of a nice drive, Anderson threw a pick-6, and then aborted a snap shortly thereafter.
I couldn't find a pic of "the boot," so I guess a picture of Leigh Bodden getting burned will do.On the Cardinals' ensuing drive, Kurt Warner threw an incomplete pass that would have brought up fourth down and four - that is, if Leigh Bodden didn't decide to do his best "Phil Dawson" and boot the ball into t
Penalties, turnovers and overall mistakes cost the Browns today, as they lost to the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale, Ariz.
Special teams wasn't exactly a highlight this week, and Leigh Bodden is starting to make mistakes that can no longer be explained by an ailing back - or much else, for that matter. Anderson threw two picks (one returned for a TD) and mishandled a snap, but also threw for 300-plus yards and brought the Browns from their own 18 to within inches of victory - with the help of Jason Wright and Kellen Winslow.
Winslow made a great catch in the end zone during the last play, but was ruled out of bounds. The call was upheld after the replay assistant called for a review. I'll have more later!
This week, the Cleveland Browns (7-4) head to Arizona this week to take on the Cardinals (5-6). Coming off a strong win at home, the Browns look to narrow the AFC North lead, held by the Steelers. Arizona is coming off a tough overtime loss to a bad 49er team. Despite their record, last weeks loss, and the team's injury problems, home field advantage gave them 1 point the last time I checked.
That must be one hell of a field. I'm not saying that the Browns are going to beat the Cards like rented mules, but that's a lot to overcome.
That being said, let's take a look at the matchups:

Cleveland Browns' running back Jamal Lewis and rookie corner Brandon McDonald were both nominated for Week 12 awards.
Lewis' 134 yards and TD during the Browns victory over the Texans earned him a nomination for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. Other nominees for the honor are Oakland's Justin Fargas (22 car, 139 yds, 1 TD) and San Fancisco's Frank Gore (21 car, 116 yds, 2 TD).
You can place your vote for Jamal by clicking here.
Brandon McDonald went from "who?" to "who is this guy?" in a three-hour period, and is up for Rookie of the Week. His step-up performance included 1 solo tackle, 4 pass defenses (effectively shutting down a Pro Bowl-calliber receiver) and 1 INT in the fourth quarter to help seal the deal against Houston.

I come to you live in the North club bar at Cleveland Browns Stadium. I'll be fighting through the buzz and the trouble of typing through my brother-in-law's Treo to bring you my observations as I see them.

TD Edwards. Had single coverage and the safety didn't reciver in time. 7-7...
Anderson lobs one up for grabs. Underthrown toEdwards and INT'd. Is Nick Sorensen that bad that our depleted DBs are still better than having him on the field? At least they missed the FG. 10-7
It's to the point where I'm not too sure what we're doing ...but we did just reciver a fumble...Beyonce's pretty hot in that boomarang commercial

I didn't believe it at first, but this is none other than Cleveland's Josh Cribbs crankin' dat. Thanks to Mevs at The Nosebleeds for digging that one up. I was looking around, and apparently Cribbs isn't the only one that can get down.
D-Back Brandon McDonald was caught from at least two angles (this being the better one) doing the Soulja Boy during pregame warm-ups.
What do Derek Anderson's friendly reminder, and Browns gettin' down on the field tell me? That this team is finally starting to have fun - one thing that is truly essential for a team to be successful. It's good to see the players smiling during interviews, laughing a little on the sidelines, and having a good time for once.
The Cleveland Browns kicker Dawson’s potential game-tying 51-yard field goal hit the upright. Then, it seemed to tap the crossbar before it bounced back onto the field. Several of the Cleveland Browns players insisted Dawson’s kick hit the curved center support behind the crossbar. The players went to the end zone, pointing at the spot where the football struck before it finally bounced back. It turned out to be true. The officials discussed the situation for about 5 minutes before ruling the kick went beyond the crossbar and through the uprights. After that, the Cleveland Browns took the kickoff in overtime and drove forty-three yards in 9 plays before Dawson kicked a 33-yard field goal to give the Browns a 33-30 win.
It’s a miracle! Yes the Baltimore had won… Oh no… it’s the other way around. It’s the Browns that came up the win.
If Romeo Crennel and his upstart Cleveland Browns go on to reach the playoffs this season — and at 6-4 they may well be on their way — perhaps they’ll look back to Sunday’s game against the Ravens and realize their drive to the postseason began in earnest with as close to a life-after-death experience as the game of football allows.
A stinging loss. Then a miraculous tie. And finally a dramatic win. That’s how it went late Sunday afternoon for the Browns, whose happy fate rested on the bizarre double bounce of the oblong ball off a metal goal post. Cleveland’s 33-30 overtime victory over Baltimore spawned what might just in these parts come to be known as Dawson-Gate, in honor of the highly controversial 51-yard game-tying field goal that Browns kicker Phil Dawson booted on the final play of regulation.
Today’s game between the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens is more than just a game between divisional rivals. It also pits two teams that are, it appears, going in 2 different directions, personnel- and philosophy-wise. Their records are almost similar: Cleveland is 5-4, Baltimore is 4-5. Yet that’s where the similarities end.
Let’s go back a few years; 2003 to be exact. Baltimore drafted a young strong-armed quarterback named Kyle Boller. 3 short years later, they obtained Steve McNair in free agency. The Ravens’ hopes were that both would solve the short- and long-term problem at QB. The Ravens look wrong in their decision making on that front, as McNair looks old and most definitely a shell of his former self. In the meantime, Boller looks shaky in the time he has taken snaps behind center.
Meanwhile, Cleveland had a QB issue of their own. They drafted Brady Quinn this year in the late first round. They, at that time, also had Charlie Frye an
Seeing as how it is a big week for intra division rivalry games in the NFL - notably the Browns/Steelers game - I figured I would repost an article I did way back in July.
I was thinking of how things have change since July. When I wrote this it looked like another re-building year for the Browns but now that has changed big time. Not only do the Browns have an outside shot at the play-offs but I think they have a shot against the Steelers. No matter what happens, it will be a better game than it was in week one.
Anyway, here is the post in its entirety. Maybe it will conjure up a few childhood memories for you.

Here is a post that has nothing to do with fantasy football. It is more of a trip down memory lane. A shining example of how ingrained the NFL is in my life history.
In the comments section of yesterdays post “Don’t Hurt Your Fantasy Football Team by Being a Die hard Fan,” it was brought to my
BEREA, Ohio — The New England Patriots are unbeaten, not unblemished. At least one of them is dirty to Browns guard Eric Steinbach. Irritated over what he thought was a cheap shot in the closing seconds of Sunday’s 34-17 loss, Steinbach called Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel “classless” on Monday and hopes the NFL fines one of New England’s top players. Steinbach felt Vrabel purposely dived at the knees of rookie tackle Joe Thomas’ legs with 11 seconds remaining on a play more…
AP - Sep 30, 5:04 pm EDT More Photos CLEVELAND (AP) — Braylon Edwards couldn’t contain his excitement. This was a Sunday to let loose. As energized Browns fans broke into Ohio State’s signature “O-H-I-O” sing-a-long, raising their arms overhead to form each letter in the fourth quarter, Edwards, a Michigan man through and through, joined in. “I was definitely doing it,” Edwards admitted. “This is Ohio. This is my residence. This is where I play football. This is where I earn more…
The much-maligned Cleveland Browns may have finally gotten the monkey off their back, after all. After years of no respect, the Browns gave the proverbial “black-eye” to one of the AFC North’s perennial powerhouses, or bullies, depending on who you ask. Fueled by Browns quarterback Derek Anderson’s two touchdown passes and a TD run by running back Jamal Lewis, the Browns surprised the Baltimore Ravens, 27-13.
The Browns, unlike in Week 1, looked like a team on the rise. Cleveland struck paydirt early, building a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Lewis exacted some revenge against his former team by scoring what was a disputed 1-yard dive into the end zone; that rushing TD was the first given up by the Ravens all season. The Browns kept Ravens QB Steve McNair in check for most of the game, depsite the Ravens’ statistical advantage thoughout the game. McNair went 34-for 53 for 307 yards with a TD and INT, but he provided what proved to be the deciding
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow didn’t practice Wednesday because of a partially dislocated left shoulder, an injury sustained during the fourth quarter of last Sunday’s loss in Oakland. Browns coach Romeo Crennel referred to Winslow’s injury as a “mild subluxation,” or separation. Crennel was asked by a confused reporter if he meant that Winslow had separated his shoulder. “I did not say separation — subluxation,” Crennel said. “I don’t know what that more…
Browns coach Romeo Crennel said tight end Kellen Winslow bruised a shoulder against the Oakland Raiders, presumably on the last drive, when he caught passes of 33 and 23 yards to help the Browns set up their final field-goal attempt. In the locker room Monday, Winslow had his left shoulder wrapped and not in the sleeve of his T-shirt. He was wearing an electric stimulator. ”It’s a little banged up. He’ll be there if he can,” Crennel said of Sunday’s home game against the Baltimore Ravens. Reported by Marla Ridenour, Akron Beacon Journal
Looking over the final roster, here are some random thoughts:Best units:1. Linebackers--Their youth could hurt at first, but they are fast with huge potential. Could develop into the one of the best LB corps in the league down the road.2. Tight ends--KWII appears healthy, Heiden is always dependable, Dinkins provides depth.Shakiest units:1. Defensive line--The starting nose tackle is a year older and the guy being groomed as his replacement is unproven and starting at left end due to injury. Free agency and the draft changed a lot of faces, but can any of them play? Run defense has to be a huge concern.2. Defensive backs--The talent is there if it is healthy, but that has been a big "if" the past two seasons. The Browns kept 10 DBs, 7 of them CBs for just this reason.3. Minutes after finishing my previous post, I discovered that the Browns named their practice squad:Returning players: RB Chris Barclay, OL Cliff Louis, DLs Chase Pittman and Melila Purcell, and WRs Steve Sanders and Syndric Steptoe New faces: CB Tim Mixon, undrafted out of Cal, cut by the Bears; TE Jonny Harline, undrafted out of BYU, cut by the Colts
In what appears to be a recurring theme in Cleveland and elsewhere, Browns general manager Phil Savage is once again covering team head coach Romeo Crennel’s ample backside. The Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Tony Grossi is reporting that at a news conference on Saturday, Savage gave a vote of confidence to Crennel. Savage opened his remarks with, “I’ll emphasize again today, there is no Romeo Crennel watch in this building. I’ve said it 10 times, he’s the right man for the job. There’s nobody else out there that could’ve won more than eight to 12 games over the last two years with the roster we had and circumstances and situations that we’ve been through. Motorcycle accidents, injuries, all sorts of things.”
And as you would expect, Savage blamed the media for the perception that Crennel’s job is on the line, telling the reporters at the news conference, “You’re in the business of creating controv
Cleveland Browns head coach Romeo Crennel has one of the most unpleasant tasks sitting right in front of him right now. And that would be this - when do you put quarterback Brady Quinn in as your permanent starter? There has to be some major pressure on Crennel to start Quinn sooner rather than later, from both the Browns fans and probably the Browns’ front office.
So far this preseason, QB’s Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson haven’t exactly stood out. On the other hand, Quinn has done the following:
13-for-16 against the Lions’ reserves who for all intents and purposes were utilizing a prevent defense.
7-for-11 for 81 yards and a touchdown in two series (a missed FG was part of this) against the Broncos’ first-team defense.
It’s stats like these which will make Crennel’s decision that much more difficult. The Browns will probably have to get out of the gate rather impressively in order for Quinn to be carrying the clipboard;
DENVER — Maybe in the regular season the red flag will come out. Preseason games don’t count and neither do touchdowns that are erroneously ruled incompletions, as Brady Quinn discovered Saturday night. Quinn was efficient and effective for the second straight game, leading the Cleveland Browns past the Denver Broncos 17-16, although it probably wasn’t enough to win him the starting job over Charlie Frye. Quinn threw a pass in the left flat that Joshua Cribbs turned into a nifty 20-yard more…
It’s a rumor that started locally, and now seems to be spreading like wildfire. That rumor is that the loser in the Cleveland Browns QB battle between Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson will be either released or traded. That rumor even showed up right here on NFLGridironGab.com as Browns play-by-play man Jim Donovan said as such in his interview with us on “Gridiron Gabbin” on Wednesday. Donovan said that the organization wants to keep Ken Dorsey around, but cannot possibly keep four quarterbacks, meaning that the loser of Frye and Anderson will be sent packing.
To start, Anderson was given the role of starting during what was a very strong series of mini camps. He seemed to have a grip on the position, but then as training camp started, he seemed to fall behind Frye, and now it looks as with three preseason games left, Frye has the spot, for now, locked up. If that lasts or not, is anyones guess. The wildcard in the whole thing is Brady Quinn, rookie QB that eve
NFL Commissioner was back on his camp tour today, and made a stop in Berea, OH at Cleveland Browns camp. One of the big issues on the table was camp holdouts, and everyone knows that in Cleveland, the big story recently was the long holdout of soon-to-be franchise quarterback Brady Quinn. The Notre Dame QB came to Cleveland after slipping to number 22 in the first round, and the Browns moved back up in the round to get Quinn, but in the process the Browns gave up their number one pick next year to Dallas. And they after waiting for a long holdout, some already are grumbling that the Browns season is going to be a very long one while they wait for Quinn to catch up.
‘It’s one of the issues we’ve talked with the union about in negotiations, and I think it’ll be clearly one of the issues we talk about when we sit down and talk about making changes that we would make to the system,” Goodell said Thursday during the NFL commissioner’s visit to the Bro
By Nigel KerryThis time Browns’ management has made some serious changes in their coach staff. Wes Chandler, a 50 year old enormously experienced league professional player and coach, has been appointed as Browns’ receivers coach. He is an experienced campaigner and will perform his duties along with offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski, offensive line coach Steve Marshall and special teams coordinator Ted Daisher.Wes Chandler started his professional career in NFL in 1978. He initially played for the Saints and then moved to the Chargers and stayed with them from 1981 to 1988. He had an impressive career record with 559 career receptions and 8,966 yards with 56 touchdowns that earned him Pro Bowl selections four times. After retiring from professional football, Chandler took up coaching as a career. His first coaching assignment was in 1991 with Orlando Thunder of the World Football League. Later, in 1994-95, he moved as the wide receivers coach to Central Florida. Chandler has als
The coin flipped didn’t do much to settle the Cleveland Browns situation at quarterback on Saturday night, but for one brief moment, a kick return of 88 yards helped them as they topped the Kansas City Chiefs 16-12 at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The QB battle between Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson is sure to continue, and maybe if Brady Quinn ever saw the field (he didn’t take a snap on Saturday night), then maybe he may have a shot as well. Chris Barclay was the hero for the Browns, as he took back a short kickoff the distance with 1:48 to go for the game-winner in a rather lackluster affair.
Frye got the start, going 12-for-15 for 122 yards. He made a few decent throws, but his night will be recalled for a messed up swing pass that was a fumble that was returned 56 yards for a KC TD. He also messed up clock management, as he scrambled and allowed the first half clock to run out as the Browns were in field goal range. Anderson didn’t do much to help his cau
In a move that should officially start the beginning of the end of the head coaching career of Romeo Crennel, the Browns coach has declared that he wil decide his starting quarterback for tomorrow night’s game vs the Chiefs - by flipping a coin. The robust coach told members of the media that he will have both QB’s ready to make the call, and once they decide who will do it, either Charlie Frye or Derek Anderson will call the flip while in the air. The winner - you get to start your teams first preseason game vs Kansas City. The loser - second string.
Crennel must have never heard of simply making a decision, as this type of video game technique is usually the type of thing that ends up getting a coach fired. Sure it’s only preseason, but basically what you are saying is both QB’s are so even (or in this case, bad), that it’s just too tough to decide which one gets to start. Come on Romeo, your the head coach of a once proud NFL franchise, make
Jamal Lewis is still only 27, but he has seven years worth of NFL experience, playing very well as this video below shows.
Lewis is now with the NFL team, Cleveland Browns he says he feels young again and he is ready for a fresh start.
Lewis demonstrated this in training, playing very well and looking like he has running very fast again.
“He’s going to be our best defensive player,” says linebacker Andra Davis, Lewis’ best friend on the team. “He’s going to keep us off the field.”
Lewis is one of only 5 players in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season.
Do you think Lewis will be a good for the Browns and the NFL?

I've thrown out a challenge to the followers of every other NFL out there: tell us why your team will be better than the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007. And plenty of eager writers are lined up to tell you exactly why they will be superior to the Black and Gold. In the coming weeks, be prepared to get a gauge on exactly where the rest of the country ranks us in the NFL hierarchy this season.Today's author is Jared Westler of Erie. He's not a sportswriter, he's not a blogger, he's a fan. But he made quite a case for why he deserved this assignment:Hey Raul, I'm a huge fan of the site and of the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates. It's difficult but for some reason I just can't quit them. I was born and raised in Erie, hence the Pirates allegiance, but also came of age during the 80s, a time when the Browns were a bit better then your Steelers, and became a Browns fan. I got a feeling they're already taken, but can I write the essay saying why they'll be better than the Steelers? Just think
Bad luck visited the Browns training camp on Tuesday as Browns offensive lineman Eric Steinbach fell on his right knee during practice and could possibly miss up to two weeks of camp. Browns head coach Romeo Crennel told Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer that, “We’re having it evaluated. We were inside on the turf and he came down on the knee. I would say he bruised it, but I haven’t looked at it, and I’m not the doctor, so I don’t know.”
Although the injury does not appear to be serious in nature, I’m sure the Browns were holding their breath as they signed Steinbach to a huge contract this offseason. In the meantime, reserve guard/center Lennie Friedman will take the majority of snaps for now and more than likely will start against the Kansas city Chiefs, assuming that Steinbach is not ready by then. One can only hope that Steinbach’s injury is nothing more than a tweak of the knee, as opposed to a sprai
BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Browns offensive guard Eric Steinbach sprained his right knee when he fell on it at practice, an injury the club will surely treat cautiously for the remainder of training camp. Steinbach, Cleveland’s biggest free-agent signing during the offseason, hurt his knee during the Browns’ indoor workout Tuesday. He walked off the field without a limp, escorted by a team trainer, and did not return. Before an MRI and other tests were performed, coach Romeo Crennel guessed more…

Desperate to resume his career, a “down and out” Ryan Tucker risked his football future by taking steroids.
He’ll pay for it — and so will the Browns.
Tucker, Cleveland’s rock-solid right offensive tackle, was suspended Friday for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.
Tucker admitted taking a banned substance, saying he did so while being treated for a mental disorder that limited him to nine games last season.
“I didn’t intend to compromise the integrity of the NFL, my team,” a remorseful Tucker said following Friday’s morning practice. “I want to apologize to the fans, my family. It’s been a long road in which I was pretty down and out last year. In my attempt to come back I took a banned substance.
Cleveland Browns right tackle Ryan Tucker has been suspended for four games by the League for steroid use. The 32-year-old missed part of last season with a mental issue, and admitted that the took steroids in an effort to bounce back from the issues he was going through. Tucker will be allowed to be a part of training camp, and will be able to play in pre-season games, but will miss the month of September without pay. The suspension means that Kevin Shaffer will likely take over the position, and that the third pick in the draft, Joe Thomas will then be inserted in the starting lineup. Tucker has made 62 starts with the Browns since he signed as a free agent back in 2002.

Bill Willis by today’s standards would be considered small for a guard in the National Football League, but back from 1946 to 1953, there was no one better than this Hall of Famer. Willis was a member of the Cleveland Browns in the AAFC/NFL, and played in three NFL Pro Bowls. His touchdown saving tackle vs the Giants perserved the Browns 1950 NFL title drive. Out of Ohio State, Willis was a man among men on defense, and in the eight years he played for the Cleveland Browns from 1946 through 1953, he was a first-team All-League selection seven times and a second-team choice once. He also played in three NFL Pro Bowls.
He played both offense and defense for the Browns but it was at the middle guard position that he earned lasting admiration. Lightning quickness was his constant trademark but opponents remember he was a solid blocker and devastating tackler as well. Enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH in 1977, Willis is still a favorite by Brown
By Jarrett Bell, USA TODAY BEREA, Ohio — Cleveland Browns coach Romeo Crennel planned to stage a three-man competition for his starting quarterback. But with first-round pick Brady Quinn missing his 10th camp practice Thursday because of an impasse in contract negotiations, it is becoming more apparent that the Browns likely will open the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 9 with either incumbent Charlie Frye or Derek Anderson starting under center. “What it has done,” Crennel more…
Saturday the number three pick in this last April’s NFL Draft - Offensive Lineman Joe Thomas took the field with his teammates at Cleveland Browns training camp in Berea, OH. Thomas spoke with members of the media, with Site Editor Matt Loede included in the mix, right after the morning practice of the two-a-day session. Click below for Thomas’ comments following the two-hour practice session.
The Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms with their first of two first round draft picks, as tackle Joe Thomas and the team have agreed on a deal. The numer three pick of the draft has signed a five-year, $43 million contract. The deal includes $23 million in bonuses. The Browns start training camp on Friday, and the only draft choice that will likely not be signed by that time is quarterback Brady Quinn, who was picked with the 22nd pick after a trade with Dallas.
The Browns second-round pick, cornerback Eric Wright, also came to terms with the team on Thursday. Many predict him to be able to step in right away and play right corner for the Browns opposite Leigh Bodden. Back to Thomas, he should be a contender for a starting job on opening day vs the Steelers. He is a great pass blocker, and unless there are unforseen circumstances, he should be the team’s starting left tackle.
There are some rumors going around that if Thomas is able to get going right away, the team may
During the '50s and '60s, the vocal harmonies of the Browns gave the lie to those who would stereotype country music as a raw product distinguished more by pure feeling than by art; perhaps the single word that best describes their music is "polished." The original brother-sister duo of Jim Ed Brown and Maxine Brown were joined by younger sister Bonnie in 1955, creating a trademark smooth trio sound that proved wonderfully adaptable to down-home harmony singing, to folk-pop arrangements that rode the crest of the hootenanny craze, and to lush Nashville sound extravaganzas. Bonnie and Jim were born in Sparkman, AR, where their father owned a sawmill and a large farm; older sister Maxine was born in Campti, LA. With the encouragement of their parents, the Brown children began singing and developing their characteristic close harmonies early on. In their teens they performed in school and began appearing at local events. In 1952, Jim Ed placed second in a talent contest and won a slot on

Acting on feedback provided from valued sources such as season-ticket holders and the po-po, the Cleveland Browns organization is taking a more cautious approach toward the experience at Cleveland Browns Stadium this coming season. A "Family Zone" is being added so as to afford a family with children the opportunity to watch a contest without being subject to boisterous; drunk potty-mouthed fans. I just thank Lord they didn't refer to this as "The Puppy Pound." "The Family Zone", a newly designated seating area insections 542 and 543 at Cleveland Browns Stadium, will be a family-friendly, alcohol-free zone featuring mascots and kids' meals. Tickets for "The Family Zone" are $32. Information on how to purchase these seats will be available on www.clevelandbrowns.com in coming weeks. And of course following suit with nearly every other damn facility in the United States, Cleveland Browns Stadium will now be smoke-free. Unfortunately, Brady Quinn will be there though.Related:Browns anno
According to IT Week on the 25th June 2007 [1], Gordon Brown is a "self-confessed computer ignoramus" and this makes me wonder what effect it's likely to have on the technology industry in the UK - especially in the SME marketplace. I'm not just referring to technology companies here but companies like ours, that use and rely on technology but aren't themselves technology companies. Whilst no one expects the Prime Minister to be sitting at number 10 playing on his (or her) X-Box whilst posting their daily Blog it would at least be a little heartwarming for technology to be given the spotlight from time to time and not just as a means to an end.Of course biometrics are a buzz word and last year Gordon Brown did heavily support the implementation of biometric [2] technology although the emphasis was on securing the countries borders. What I would like to see would be a much improved technological infrastructure, improvements in the 'last-mile' [3] using fibre to the home and broader
The Associated Press is reporting this morning that Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver Mike Mason was arrested Sunday after refusing commands from two off-duty police officers to leave a downtown nightclub at closing time. Mason struggled with one of the officers and was shocked with a stun gun, Lt. Thomas Stacho said Monday. The 22-year-old Mason was charged with aggravated disorderly conduct, obstructing official business and resisting arrest - all misdemeanors.
The officers confronted Mason while trying to clear patrons from the club about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Mason refused orders to put down his drink and leave, and when the officers tried to take the drink, he “apparently slapped one of the officers’ arms away” and the two began struggling, Stacho said. Mason appeared in court Monday and later posted bail. He signed with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent in May. Browns spokesman Bill Bonsiewicz said in a statement that the team was aware of Mason&
He’s the guy waving his arms frantically on the Cleveland Browns’ sideline, jumping up and down, looking like a panicked air-traffic controller; that’s just his nature. The Dayton Daily News is reporting this morning that on Thursday, the Browns granted defensive coordinator Todd Grantham a two-year extension through the 2009 season. The deal puts Grantham in sync with new offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski and head coach Romeo Crennel, both of whose contracts have two years remaining after this season.
“I’m going to congratulate him when I see him,” inside linebacker Andra Davis said after a morning practice concluded a three-day minicamp. “We’re in our third year (together). We’re comfortable.” Grantham last season was a candidate for the Michigan State head coaching position. Many who are in the loop think he’ll eventually be an NFL head coach, possibly even of the Browns depending on how things go this
*Tyler Perry will again don the Madea housedresses for a film adaptation of his stage production, “Meet the Browns,” due in early 2008 for Lionsgate.
The story follows a single mother in Chicago who takes her family to Georgia for the funeral of her father, whom she never met. There, she is introduced to her father’s crude-yet-fun-loving Brown family.
News of the film comes a day after the premiere of Perry’s TBS sitcom “House of Payne,” which is being distributed in first-run syndication by Lionsgate's wholly owned Debmar-Mercury subsidiary.
The series debut has become the No. 1 sitcom telecast in TBS history among adults 18-34, adults 18-49, adults 25-54, overall viewers and overall households, according to preliminary data from Nielsen Media Research.

The Cleveland Browns caught one of the cruelest breaks in the teams history last season when free agent center LeCharles Bentley went down on the first day on the first play of training camp with a left knee injury that has put his career in doubt. The injury was not only one that kept him out the entire season, but a month after surgery to repair the tear in his patella tendon, the center suffered a staph infection, causing further delay in a possible comeback.
Now finally some good news, as it was stated yesterday at Browns headquarters in Berea that Bentley will not have a second surgery on the knee, and that there is a chance he could come back and play in 2007. Browns GM Phil Savage called the news “a positive sign,” and said that an update on Bentley would be coming once the team starts training camp next month. Reports do say that as of right now, Bentley is not in the Browns plans for 2007 or beyond.
Possibly the most interesting thing about the current state of Ben

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — Braylon Edwards didn’t want to talk about his one-day absence from the Browns’ voluntary practices last week.
But his place in the wide receiver pecking order Tuesday appeared to speak volumes how the team felt about it. Edwards took reps with the third-team offense and was the last receiver in line during position drills.
“There’s no significance to it at all. He’s trying to learn the system,” Browns coach Romeo Crennel said. “It is not
