British Gas Break Into Couple's House Over Non-Existant Debt
British energy giant, British Gas, have broken into the wrong house. Couple David Houghton and Abby Simpson came home from holiday to find their locks picked by the company, a perfectly legal thing for British Gas to do if the couple had owed money.Houghton has been fighting British Gas since he cancelled the contract his flat had with the company, and switched to EDF. British Gas continued to bill him from then on, but Houghton received an apology from the CEO, and thought the matter resolved.British Gas switched the couple's metre to a pay-as-you-go unit, and left a note. The couple nextdoor were actually the one to owe British Gas money. The company has apologised, reimbursed the couple and blamed the mix up on Royal Mail. Source: www.dailymail.co.uk

      British Gas and Customer Service
A couple of years ago we had a new house built. It was officially a conversion from a little chef restaurant, but in actuality there isn't much left of the original building. When it came to having the utilities connected, I expected it to be a simple and relatively inexpensive job, as we already had gas, water and electric supplies to the building. Boy was I wrong, the site surveyor from British Gas turned up, took one look and began sucking air through his teeth, "Gonna cost you a fortune for a gas connection mate, seeing as there is no gas here" "Yes there is" I replied, that nice big 2 inch pipe is full of it", "No its a dead pipe", was his expert reply. I promptly disproved this theory by glibly walking over too it, turning the valve on and listening to the high pressure rush of esca

BRITISH GAS LAUNCHES GREENEST ENERGY TARIFF
Pollution, you know, is a big problem for us and for the entire hearth. Every day, new environmental alarms are launched by scientists. Fortunately, in the last years something is moving in the right direction. Take for example the new Euro5 and Euro6 normative for car's emissions (in all the Europe), or the Kyoto Protocols. Another interesting example is surely the new green energy tariffs from British Gas: it now sells, for the entire domestic market, an energy obtained only with "green... British Gas exploits inefficient ethical market for solar energy
British Gas launched a ‘New Energy’ business yesterday, which among other things will install household solar panels. UK suppliers of solar panels – particularly solar hot water – are young and fragmented and they must be worried. PR is one driver, of course, but the main reason behind British Gas New Energy is that it will be incredibly profitable. People don’t use solar because it saves money; they use it because it feels green. On top of paying for expensive technology that takes decades to pay back, customers are prepared to pay an additional mark up that allows big margins. The problem is that customers – corporates and homeowners alike – tend not to focus too carefully on environmental outcomes when they buy feel-good (which is why carbon offsetting is such a murky industry – there is not much demand for clearer information). Sanyo, Google and Tesco could surely have found greener uses for their cash than vast photovoltaic arrays. But they do look good, don’

British Gas are Arseholes, Switching Suppliers and New Boilers
flangracneig pgoramian This is going to be rather a dull post, I’m afraid. All about money and gas suppliers. But it kinda made me angry, hence why I’m blogging about it. If you don’t like it, spam my forum or something. This morning, the postman came and dropped a few letters through the box. None for me (no further Premium Bond wins, early birthday cards, or train tickets for London this weekend), but one from my mum, from British Gas. She has this “Price Protection” Plan - quite simply, should the price go up, then she sticks with the old price. It seemed like a good idea at the time, and the phone salesman said things like “loyal customer” and “free” and “bonus”. Of course, there was one thing the salesman forgot to mention - can you guess what it is readers? From the letter:- “You may have heard recently that British Gas has dropped it’s prices recently by 17%. As you are part of our price protection sch
