I was preoccupied this afternoon prepping up my turkey. I tell you, as it is my first time to handle a whole 12 lbs. turkey, I found working on it exciting and fun. My first attempt, who won't be excited, right? That's if, you really want to do it and learn. So the turkey is now in the fridge immersed in the brine mixture that I concocted. While I was boiling the mixture, the aroma was so good yet it was just a mixture of different herbs and spices, onion, celery, carrots and lemon strips. So tomorrow is turkey roasting day for me, 3 days ahead of most people. I'll update you on the result.
I watched a Thanksgiving show on the Food Network this weekend. Alton Brown said that you must brine your turkey. I don’t know that I have ever had a turkey that has been soaked in brine. This year I will. Mrs. Mai Tai will be brining the turkey before she cooks it. I don’t know if it will make a big difference or not but we are going to try it out this year. If you want to brine your turkey check out this recipe.

The memories of those sunny, glorious summer vacations are still fresh in my mind. Fond memories of eating sour raw mangoes with salt and chilli powder and of biting into a lush, golden mango and get that sweet, sticky juice squirting all over my chin and cloths without worrying about anything. Ah!!! It feels like just yesterday, climbing mango trees with my sister and cousins and aiming a slingshot at our neighbour’s tree. I still can’t understand how this tantalising, magical fruit turned me from Miss Goody Girl into mischievous brat. These are some mo
I recently bought a cheerful-looking drapey piece of rayon at Hancock Fabrics which has "crinkles" running parallel to the selvedges. Because of the "crinkles" the fabric stretches on the cross grain. I would like to make it into either a skirt or a dress, but am unsure what kind of pattern would work. Any suggestions?Last post by CSM--Carla at Sun 15 Jun 2008 01:40:34 PM Total posts: 2
