Incense seller begs outside court to ‘bribe’ cops
He tried everything to get justice for his son. He pleaded to the police to take action but in return they asked him for Rs 50, 000. So, in an effort to shake up the system and also scrounge for the bribe money, Jubaan, an incense stick seller whose six-year old son was run over by a car, stood outside Karkardooma Court and begged for money. The money he collected — Rs 280 — was then converted

If the Bribe is Right: Cat Training in 10 Minutes
The relationship between cats and their owners is a complicated thing. To try to explain an average cat and owner relationship and how that relationship will evolve is more complicated. But for someone who knows how to use bribery to his or her advantage, one statement can sum it up: Cats love rewards the same way that cat owners love obedient pets. Using the "bribe" method is not as easy as just giving rewards to your cat. It cannot be contested that bribery has a lot of things to offer to trainers. But certain principles must be employed. A systematic program must be adopted to achieve maximum effectiveness. Here are some thoughts to consider for cat training in 10 minutes using the "bribe" method. 1. Cats are rewards seeking, punishment fearing creatures. Cats will only do things that t

Anti-graft party stained by bribe allegations
PARLIAMENTARIANS from Indonesia's leading anti-graft party have handed back $120,000 in alleged bribes, but only after another MP was arrested for receiving a related pay-off to clear a protected forest. The move is another blow to the credibility of Indonesia's politicians, with a range of Anti-Corruption Commission investigations revealing bribing MPs remains routine. A senior member of the Islamic-orientated Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Suswono, said the $120,000 was paid to party members on parliament's commission overseeing forestry, of which he is the deputy chairman. The money came from regional officials, including the Bintan regency, he said. Mr Suswono, whose party rose to prominence on an anti-corruption platform, said all members of his commission should be questioned over t

Chuck Cadman's Widow Alleges $1 Million Bribe
The widow of Chuck Cadman has alleged that Conservative party officials attempted to bribe her husband to the tune of $1 million to stop him from propping up the Martin government in 2005.During question period today, Harper said he'd looked into this himself and decided there was "absolutely no truth in it". This obviously begs the question: Why would Harper take it upon himself to investigate such a serious charge? In politics appearances are everything and if Harper had any political sense, he would have turned this matter over to the appropriate officials right off the bat. Instead, he chose to cover it up and now the Conservatives are accusing Cadman's widow, a member and candidate of their party, of lying. The denials were flying fast and furious during Thursday's questions and, as

Move On Dot Treason Tries To Bribe Troops
~Snooper~This is just so typical of a loser mentality. It seems that the "bite" of Move On is now an irritating "gumming"...similar to a pesky Chihuahua trying to hump your leg.It seems as though, according to them and, who can trust them, has raised $300K for the active duty troops in Harms Way. Gee. I wonder where their support was when they tried to paint General David Petraeus as incompetent. Seems like that vain and ignorant act blew up in their faces, eh?From The Swamp:MoveOn.org took a break from criticizing President Bush and his Republican allies this week to raise money for U.S. troops overseas - and netted more than $300,000 in 24 hours, the liberal group says. The money will benefit the USO's Operation Phone Home program, which gives phone cards free to service members in Iraq and Afghanistan."MoveOn members are committed to seeing our troops come home as quickly as possible and we'll keep working to make that happen," the group said in the appeal it sent on Thursday t

      Because I Bribe My Children
A messy house is so discouraging, not to mention overwhelming. Yesterday I was determined to get the house ready for our Christmas brunch/craft party. I announced to the children that we were going to clean. They love it when I do that. “MOM, I don’t know where to start.” “It looks fine to me, Mom.” “What do you want me to do, I’ve already picked up 30 things.” “You’re kidding me, can’t I do school instead?” As I looked around at piles of assorted mess - everything from socks to papers - I wondered what was so difficult to comprehend. “Anything that is out of place needs to go BACK into it’s place. We’re done when the entire downstairs is picked up and cleaned,” I explained patiently. “Oh,” they all intoned in voices full of gloomy understanding. And then they stood there motionless, no doubt ‘moved’ by my brilliant leadership. Finally I realized I needed a diffe

Prosecutors claim N.Y. millionaires had relative bribe families of women in slave-labor case
A millionaire couple accused of keeping two Indonesian women as slaves were held in jail on Thursday amid new allegations that the women's relatives were threatened and offered bribes to make the case go away. Varsha Mahender Sabhnani and her husband, Mahender Murlidhar Sabhnani, who operate a worldwide perfume business out of their Long Island home, pleaded not guilty at their arraignment on federal slavery charges. Prosecutors have called the allegations “truly a case of modern-day slavery.” “The defendants operated a torture house,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Lesko told the judge, who put the Sabhnanis' bail request on hold until a hearing May 30. “They are capable of acts of violence.”Earlier: New York Couple Indicted On Slavery Charges

I’ll bribe you with cookies but please, no cheating.
So… the good folks over at fuelmyblog have a blog and so I’ve added them to the fracas blogroll, as they (so gently) ask us to.  The recent posts revolve around the topic of cheating of the votes over at fuelmyblog. Some people (I saw one briefly there yesterday morning) had as many as multiple thousands of votes come in all at once… with nary a click-through (I saw the count as 5). Had being the word. Later that day, said blog was removed. So I would like to get some good, honest votes to rack up the total for old fracas (and I assure you, I am old). It’s more of a game with me… I promise I don’t lose sleep over it, but I like a challenge as well as the next person.  Reading some other comments from other blog-owners, it seems that some people have taken to getting traffic for their blogs by using blog cards just as business owners seek business with business cards. Mine is going to be a cookie. If you’re lucky enough to get a real on

Bribe Payers Index 2006 : Asia
In "How to succeed doing business in China " I discussed the possible western stereotype and misunderstanding about GuanXi and giving the Chinese gifts. If a formal article in an Israeli newspaper about doing business in China advises that you should give gifts on a personal basis and should not take "no" for an answer, what does that mean?  It just so happens that that Transparency International have released their Bribe Payers Index annual report for the year 2006.  The Asian rankings are as follows (from best to worst) : Cluster 1 - Japan (out of 11 countries in cluster) Cluster 2 - Singapore (out of 6) Cluster 3 - Hong-Kong, South Korea, Malaysia (& Israel - out of 8 ) Cluster 4 - Taiwan, China, India (out of 5) A short Asian related comment from the report : In contrast, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan performed substantially worse in the BPI 2006 than in the CPI 2005. This can lead one to conclude that companies from these countries are more li

      Bribe and Groom
During the wedding rehearsal, the groom approached the pastor with an unusual offer:"Look, I''ll give you $100 if you''ll change the wedding vows. When you get to the part where I''m supposed to promise to ''love, honor and obey'' and ''be faithful to her forever,'' I''dappreciate it if you''d just leave that out." He passed the minister a $100 bill and walked away satisfied. On the day of the wedding, when it came time for the groom''s vows, the pastor looked the young man in the eye and said:"Will you promise to prostrate yourself before her, obey her every command and wish, serve her breakfast in bed every morning of your life, and swear eternally before God and your lovely wife that you will not ever even look at another woman, as long as you both shall live?"The groom gulped and looked around, and said in a tiny voice, "Yes," then leaned toward the pastor and hissed: "I thought we had a deal."The pastor put a $100 bill into the groom''s hand and whispered: "S
