From realistic Santa Villages at air conditioned malls to the advertising and hot-in-consumer-pursuit marketing gimmicks, indigenous residents often rue that Christmas in Dubai is celebrated even more then the Islamic traditions and festivals. "Nympheas" is obviously one of Claude Monet's "waterlily" pieces. It was done 1916-1919. It can be found at Musee Marmottan, in Paris. He is one of my favorite painters. ~It's windy as heck today, but warm, and I cannot remember the last time I said that! I got a good deal done on my office/craft room, mostly thanks to the Contrarian who helped me move a few pieces of furniture around. My legs were tired after the Gorges so I decided to take it easy again, and this wasn't too hard now I was out of the mountains. The real challenge now was to keep things interesting after the high of yesterday's incredible scenery, but at least now I had a handy leaflet to help me. I'd had some thoughts about visiting Avignon, on the advice of my lunch companions the previous day, but there was a lot of traffic around and I didn't feel like going into a town that big. Pont du Gard looked like a better bet, a Roman aqueduct spanning the Gard river, so I headed straight south.I crossed the Ardeche river into the Gard departement. Huge cliffs faded away into vineyards and gentle forested hills. It was a sunny and cloudless day and warm herby breezes filled the air. There were a couple of small foresty climbs, mostly to keep me away from the bigger roads, as the traffic had started to get quite busy.Bagnols-sur-Ceze was a bit of a trafficky hell-hole, I got there around mid-day and c

After just five minutes of meeting and greeting, he headed downtown for a $2,300-a-person fundraiser organized by his prominent Tampa supporter, Al Austin. He did a public appearance and a fundraiser in Fort Lauderdale, and stopped in Miami, before coming to Tampa.Clinton proposed a health care plan that would require individuals to buy health insurance, and require businesses to offer it
RAFAEL Nadal destroyed Tomas Berdych to move into the Wimbledon semi-finals and a step closer to becoming just the third man to win the French Open and All England Club titles in the same year. The Spanish No.2 seed, who was runner-up to Roger Federer last year, made light of the potential danger posed by Berdych winning 7-6 (7-1) 6-4 6-2 and will now take on either Serbian fourth seed Novak Djokovic or Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus for a place in Sunday’s final. Nadal had toiled through two more…
SAMANTHA Stosur cruised into the second round of the French Open today, the only Australian to complete a match as rain once again played havoc with the schedule at Roland Garros.
Stosur, the No.27 seed, needed just 55 minutes to defeat Jamea Jackson of the US 6-1 6-2 before persistent showers prompted a mass cancellation of matches for the second straight day.
