Those vigorously nodding up and down (well, those vigorously nodding up and down in Brazil) can get set to grab a limited edition Renault Sandero, which will come "fully equipped with Nokia's navigation system and [undisclosed] car add-ons." The super-special Sandero will come stocked with an N95 and cost around €17,650 ($27,693), but you'd better hurry, as only 1,000 of these niche motorcars are being built. Recession is detrimental to Branding, or is it?
Brands & recession are quite interesting if seen together. Don’t get me wrong here. One of the most common branding phenomenon we often observe during recessionary period is that marketing/branding costs are reduced which exposes the brands to higher risks of becoming less visible amongst others. I believe this is not the right strategy. Infact it should be the other way round viz. instead of cutting the valuable market research budget, companies should think about how to know more about consumers on how they are responding and redefining the value of brands. Also it is easier

Entrepreneurs have a chance to build entire businesses based on a powerful brand promise while large companies tend to drift away from the original promise that made them compelling and then they foolishly spend millions to try to "re-brand" which may or may not be possible.

      branded category: co-branding with clients
I just finished working out, and eating while watching TV.  Sometimes, life is simply great.  The TV turned on to a local station replaying Wheel of Fortune… celebrity edition, no less.  I think, “hey, why not?” I already talk about the Wheel of Fortune game show to make another point (more on that later).  And now, they’ve done it again: The first category was “People” — not “people.”  The category was branded with the People magazine logo and the phrase referenced what would be found inside People magazine.  I wonder if People magazine paid for this “branded category.”  No doubt it’s clever promo for the magazine.  And it’s interesting to viewers and players of the show. My point is not to herald Wheel of Fortune (tho I do)… rather, this instance reminds me of how innovative we can be once we view our clients as partners.  Together everybody achieves more.  Cooperate & grow. How have y

Why is the iPhone such a hot item these days? Whether you are rushing out to get one or not, you must admit that it has got some crazy, cool functionality. It probably IS more of what we've always wanted in a handheld, portable, phone device than ever before, but we've never held anyone else to the standard of actually delivering it. One thing about the iPhone that really interests me is the whole buzz behind it before it ever became available. In fact I even remember there being an incredible buzz about "some new thing" that Apple was going to be unveiling at some consumer electronics show, but no one would say what it was. Yes, Apple's PR folks do seem to be good at what they do, but I think that there is something deeper going on over there that is feeding their success. Apple has a reputation now for delivering crazy-cool stuff. They have become masters at brand management. As we discuss the final qualification for the executive-leader, which is about being "though of well by out

Four High Impact Branding Must Haves:
      1. Brand Name:Brand names go on to feature wherever a business has established or wants to establish its presence; as such, they have to have a high recall quotient while managing to project an image of what the business is all about in the minds of the average consumer. Your business objectives, mottoes, ideals, policies, products, etc. have to be incorporated in some way or another in the brand name.Misleading the consumer for the purpose of having a catchy name is not really necessary. That is a sure-fire way to minus valuable credibility points from your business. One good example of a business that has used this branding technique successfully is our own client site: www.plasticsurgeryinstituteofcalifornia.com2. Co-branding
Co-branding is a marketing arrangement that associates a single product or service with more than one brand name, or otherwise associates a product with someone other than the principal producer. The typical co-branding agreement involves two or more companies acting in cooperation to associate any of various logos, color schemes, or brand identifiers to a specific product that is contractually designated for this purpose. The object for this is to combine the strength of two brands. The marketing of Gillette M3 Power shaving equipment with Duracell batteries (both brands owned by Procter & Gamble). Many online companies think they are pursuing co-branding when in fact they are pursuing strategic partnerships. Partnerships, which have different goals than co-brands, are a way of leveraging a corporation's own strengths and softening its weaknesses via a joint effort with another firm.

      Umbrella Branding
As with all effective brand strategy, umbrella brands require a single message, an expression of a commonsense benefit grounded in human emotion that opens the way to own the conversation within a business category. Umbrella brands abound in business; examples include Virgin, Kellogg's, Sony, and location brands such as Japan, Manitoba, and St. Louis. With an umbrella brand, the number of interactions the consumer has with the brand increase significantly, thereby reinforcing the brand values, and it helps transfer the goodwill to new products and categories. But the umbrella brand needs to be focused: It must stand for the same values across the category or range of products, and have the same emotional link. Generally, consumer durables and services brands have used umbrella branding, while FMCGs have not, but even they have resorted to brand extensions rather than new launches.Independent brands only make sense when the product clearly has a different proposition from the compa

Brand Development - You Should Improve Your Branding
By: Scott WhiteIt might be almost blasphemous to talk about letting go of old brand equity and laying an old brand to rest, but there are times when change is needed. Reformulating and re-designing, or even overhauling an old brand can be a wise decision. If sales are flat and show no sign of growth, you'd better stop kidding yourself and hire a branding consultant.Brands are an extremely vital element in your product and corporate value proposition. With communications so pervasive today, corporate branding and product branding are becoming fused as one. Corporate brands are increasingly powering product brands and product sales and that poses some substantial risk as those sub brands can't be as easily re-positioned when they falter. Brand CultureAs time passes, culture changes, new technologies and new competing brands appear and they change the perception of value that is available in a marketplace. Old sales propositions won't fly in the face of 20 or more other competitors off

      Corporate Internet Branding Fundamentals
By: Scott WhiteThe Internet is a ubiquitous Corporate communications and sales channel, however many companies are still not utilizing much of its power. That could be because of loyalties to comfortable old channels or that there aren’t enough Internet marketing experts to take their brands into the digital realm. Regardless of the hold-ups in leveraging internal or external Internet communications options, consumer and B2B channels are growing their share of the market. Resistance is futile and with this change in how consumers and B2B buyers are reached, is a change in the symbolism, voice, and style of promoting brands. That doesn’t necessarily mean the Internet can’t play a supporting role for your offline or TV advertising. For many campaigns, the Internet is just another conduit for sales videos and corporate brochures. Some are satisfied with this, however the Internet’s own power to communicate and generate business shouldn’t be underestimated. The Internet, whether t

      What is branding?
In my last article, I explained that your brand is how your customers, prospects, friends and family view you. So where does branding fit into the picture? Branding is about trying to shape the impressions people have about you and your company. It’s not about manipulating people. People are much too smart for that to work and no advertising or branding campaign can help you if you are a nasty person or unethical company. Instead, it’s about understanding who you are at your core and explaining clearly why people should do business with you (or have a romantic relationship or be friends with you on a personal level.) It’s about making sure that every interaction people have with you is consistent with that core message. Branding Is More Than “Getting Your Name Out” When most people think about branding, they think of “getting their name out.” They then try a little of everything like sending postcards, newsletters and sales letters, advertis
