So for a little over a week now, I have been a member of "Team Bradford" as a distributor for Monavie! Let me say that while becoming friends with Bradford is a MAJOR plus to being a Monavie distributor, given what a wonderful guy he is, I have come to find that the product is becoming a much bigger reason for doing it. According to a report from the BBC, both Alliance and Leicester and Bradford and Bingley have issued trading statements today that show them to be in better shape than had been feared. The good news is that both of them, while they’ve both made some losses (see my post about securitisation earlier this week), they’ve also both got good cash reserves and borrowing facilities lined up. As a result of this, no-one is expecting another Northern Rock-style run on those banks. Both are blaming the American subprime crisis for the downturn (as you’d expect), but there’s a hint of naivety from one of them : Alliance and Leicester have apparantly blamed “unprecedented conditions”. Clearly they don’t have good enough memories, and are basing conditions on the relatively short period of time since the second world war… Looking back to the US experience in the 1930s, there are lots of precedents for what’s been happening. Today, my daughter and I attended the autograph signing at Lake Elsinore Outlets with Bradford, Julie Marie Berman and Josh Duhon. We're fortunate enough to live only 20 minutes away, so we were definitely excited when we heard about the location of this event.Given the reviews of SSW and how large crowds are known to get, we weren't sure what to expect as far as turnout was concerned, so we arrived at 9:30 (the event was from 1:00-3:00). The place was deserted! So we ended up shopping for awhile. Finally, around 10:30, the tent and table went up and a few people started to show. Yep, I was lucky enough to get to view Bradford starring in CARTS! Unfortunately, for now, all I CAN say is that it was a very cute film, and Bradford is great in it! That was perhaps what of the funniest things I have seen in a while. I laughed and laughed. He looked so cute with his hair slicked back wearing Jason's suit. This is how I feel about my writing, and why as a Black woman I write about the things I do. Not to say there's never room for art for art's sake...but I agree with the heart of what Johnson says in that quote.
