Francona had told his coaches they would be paid. The Red Sox must've forgotten about all those fans who paid to see them today. Classy. And I seem to remember Theo Epstein saying something about the the Yankees' players

Another reason to boycott the Chinese Olympics - like we need it
The world's tiger population is declining precipitously, with the World Wildlife Fund estimating only 3,500 tigers left in the world - down from 1982 estimates of over 5,000. Habitat deforestation and traditional Chinese medicine are two contributing factors. So is China doing anything to encourage research into alternative remedies? No, in fact quite the opposite - China has a legal market for farmed tiger parts, and is considering legislation to legalize trade of all tiger parts.   hmmm.

Reporters Without Borders calls for boycott of Beijing Olympics opening ceremony
Reporters Without Borders today urged heads of state, heads of government and members of royal families to boycott the 8 August opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games because of the Chinese government's mounting human rights violations and the glaring lack of freedom in China. “China has not kept any of the promises it made in 2001 when it was chosen to host these Olympics,” the press

IOC Urges Countries Not to Boycott Beijing Olympics
International Olympic President Dr Jacques Rogge has urged countries not to boycott the Beijing Olympics this summer after protests in Tibet turned violent. The riots are the most violent in the small region in nearly 20 years.Rogge said: "We believe that the boycott doesn't solve anything. On the contrary, it is penalizing innocent athletes and it is stopping the organization from something that definitely is worthwhile organizing."An official IOC statement read: "The IOC shares the world's desire for a peaceful resolution to the tensions of past days in the Tibetan region of China. We hope that calm can return to the region as quickly as possible." Source: Yahoo

      Olympic Sized Boycott
Steve, and many, many other bloggers are renewing my interest in either an Olympic boycott, or a large blog oriented protest action against the IOC. Anonymous: “I’m not downsizing what is happening in China. I would never agree with such acts of violence. However, the only people your affecting when boycotting the games are the athletes.” It isn’t [...]

Chinese Statues and British Population Agree: Boycott the Chinese Olympics!
Kudos go out to Tibet Will Be Free for bringing this story to my attention. Around noon today (their time) in the British Museum, a pro-Tibet protester hung signs from around the necks of ancient Chinese Terracotta statues reading, “China, Stop Killing Tibetans” and “Boycott the Chinese Olympics.” The exhibit, which was reportedly [...]

Sould We Boycott the 2008 Games Over Tibet?
Chinese military police were temporarily forced to play defense when Tibetan protesters began throwing rocks and bricks at the government hit-squad. If you were to believe what the Chinese Government is telling the international community, you would think that the Dalai Lama and his followers in Tibet were terrorists no different than al-Qaida or the barbaric Chechens. <b>Boycott Mexican Vacations And Products<b>
Brenda Martin (left side) has been in a crowded, filthy Mexican prison for the last two years. Even though her former employer, Richard Waage, exonerated her in his internet pyramid scheme. The Mexican judicial system insisted on keeping Brenda in abominable conditions while under arrest. These conditions have made her suicidal.Former Canadian prime minister, Paul Martin went to Mexico to see what he could do about it, but more effort is needed by present PM, Stephen Harper.I think it's time to play hardball with our so called "NAFTA Buddies" down south. Danish boycott efforts stepped up
Yemeni market refuses to stock Danish products. Street demonstrations are illegal in Saudi Arabia, so the next best thing – well, actually a better thing – is to organize a boycott to demonstrate displeasure of the actions of another country. Supermarkets throughout Saudi Arabia have stopped stocking the shelves with Danish products to protest the re-publication of the Prophet Muhammad cartoons. The boycott was effective in late 2005 and early 2006 when markets stopped stocking dairy products imported from Denmark. The Danes acknowledged the boycott did affect Danish manufacturers and suppliers. Now the Saudis are getting more specific in which products they are boycotting by texting each other bar code numbers and images of the products to be boycotted.Danish Products Boycott Increas

What if homosexuals staged a huge promotion of that sexual lifestyle choice, and no one came to see it? eBay News: eBay Boycott Causes Auction listings to drop 13%
From USA Today:Auction listings on eBay.com dropped some 13% since the strike started Feb. 18to about 13 million items, according to third-party tracking sites such asdealscart.com and medved.net. This quote misrepresents the actual effectivness of the eBay boycott. Ebay, did in fact drop 13% since Feb. 18. But if you look at the beggining of February there were about 13 million auction listings to start with. Thus, this small time frame only captures a small spike and valley in the graph. It does not actually represent how eBay is doing as a whole throught the month of February. This is another case of the Media skewing the numbers for a story.eBay reports that it has seen no difference in the ammount of auctions listed since the boycott began.

Will Smith Angers Jews And They Call For Boycott
Welp, the Jews are pretty effin pissed off at Will Smith. Apparently he said something to the effect that Hitler wasn’t all that bad of a guy, and well, they took offense: Even Hitler didn’t wake up going, ‘let me do the most evil thing I can do today’,” said Will. “I think he woke up in the morning and using a twisted, backwards logic, he set out to do what he thought was ‘good’. Stuff like that just needs reprogramming. I can kind of see where Will is going with that, but according to the Press the Yamaka-donning Justice League of the Jewish community are outraged and demanding that Will’s movie “I Am Legend” be pulled from theaters:The Jewish Defense League is calling on Barack Obama to repudiate Smith’s comments, and wants theaters to pull Smith’s new flick “I Am Legend” from their screens. Boycott China
The emergence of China as a dominant economic power is an epochal event, as significant as the United States' ascendancy after World War II. It is in many ways an astonishment, starting with the ideological about-face that enabled it, the throwing over of Maoist values for plainly capitalist ones starting in the late 1970s. So thorough is the change that the 19-foot-tall portrait of a stolid, potato-faced Mao Zedong that still looms over traffic-choked, commerce-suffused Tiananmen Square looks paradoxical, even startling, in seeming need of an update in which Mao winks—or sobs—in blinking neon. Meanwhile, inside Beijing's Forbidden City, the heart of old China, buildings with such intoxicating names as Hall of Preserved Harmony and Palace of Heavenly Purity bear signs reading, "Made Possible by the American Express Company."The grander astonishment is the most massive and rapid redistribution of the earth's resources in human history. In a mere two and a half decades, China has

Boycott Islam: Sharia equity index debuts on Tokyo Stock Exchange
It’s almost as if I’m living in a nightmare and someone needs to shake me awake. Greed will destroy us all yet if we let it; anything to garner more revenue, even if it means shaking hands with the ghost of Muhammad in order to please his followers and their ideological insanity. Nobody should still believe that Islam is “just a religion” after reading this news; not even the most diehard moonbats among you. From CNN Money: TOKYO, Dec. 3, 2007 (Thomson Financial delivered by Newstex) – The Tokyo Stock Exchange on Monday launched a new sharia index of shares in companies that comply with Islamic law to meet growing demand from investors, particularly in the oil-rich Middle East. The index of 79 stocks traded in Japan, jointly developed by the TSE and the US rating agency Standard & Poor’s (NYSE:MHP) , dipped 0.39 points or 0.04 percent to 1,006.51 on its first day, outperforming the benchmark Nikkei-225 which lost 0.33 percent.
