Lately, I've had to do a some interviewing for new positions that have opened
up here. My interview style is to not ask too many questions and to try and get
the candidate to talk about themselves. Still, there a few technical questions I
ask just to make sure the basics are understood. It's surprising how candidates
with many years of experience can't answer the following:
Define Inheritance - I think most candidates have a notion of what this is
but manage to stumble around for 5 minutes or more answering it. What's strange
is that it can be described pretty much in one sentence. Answer: Defining
new classes from existing classes.Define Polymorphism - I would love it if a candidate asked "Ad-hoc or
Parametric?" But they never do. Again, I usually get a 5 minute answer that s

Priscilla Presley has confirmed reports she received botched treatment from an unqualified plastic surgeon.

We’ve all had our fair share of pain and trouble installing a PC game, but what happens after that? Some games turn out to be atrocious, while others heavenly, though that is not the point of the article. 1UP takes a look at the five top-most botched PC game launches in history, listing the usual suspects. The most recent one has to be Hellgate London, the highly anticipated action-RPG that fell flat on its face upon release. Here’s a sample:
When Hellgate opened on Halloween, 2007, s*** hit the fan. Never mind the ongoing demonic invasion and dimensional gash in no-longer-jolly-old England; players paid up to fight it off. But persistent crash bugs were a bad start. And while lost progress in an action-RPG is always painful, double and triple billings chafe in any context. Many subs
Botched noses, they can be worse than odd-shaped noses. While there are a lot of plastic surgeons who perform rhinoplasty, there are very few surgeons who approach a rhinoplasty procedure with an experienced outlook. The latter group is more often than not the surgeons who usually end up fixing badly done nose jobs. From the total number of rhinoplasty procedures performed in the United States, about 17 percent account for a revision rhinoplasty procedure. Most of these procedures require minor surgery, but a badly executed rhinoplasty can warrant extensive surgical repair.Scars and surgical marks too are some of the reasons patients go in for a revision rhinoplasty. And then again there are star-struck patients who come clutching their favorite idol’s photograph seeking the help of a plastic surgeon. Revision rhinoplasty is also considered by patients who are looking for a particular look for their new nose.At the Plastic Surgery Institute of California, professional rhinoplasty surg
I had meant to tone down the criticism of Steve McClaren after Croatia coach, Steve Bilic, had his two cents about the difficulties in managing a national team. He said: “As a club manager you need a couple of years to make or build a team. In a national team you need three or four years because you do not have the players every day. It’s not McClaren’s fault. I feel for him and hope he is going to continue.”
Watching the match against Austria, I concur with Bilic. Of course, we should let McClaren carry on. England will be the shining beacon of mediocrity and any national coach just need to hold up his report card against McClaren’s and chances are, he will be exonerated. Now that Israel has defeated Russia 2-1, the stage is set for McClaren to win over his critics but I have a nagging suspicion he will falter.
The exhibition match against Austria (co-host of Euro 08) ended with a 1-0 win for England. From David Beckham’s corner kick, Peter Crouch headed in the goal in the

In South Africa, boys are dying in droves after botched circumcisions by "traditional healers":
In the Eastern Cape, where circumcision is a source of pride for the Xhosa ethnic group, 12 initiates have died and more than 20 illegal traditional surgeons have been arrested in the last month. According to the provincial health department, nearly 100 youths were hospitalised, while 350 were rescued from "fly-by-night [initiation] schools".
For the past two months, health officials have been driving through the rough, hilly terrain of the province, swooping down on dodgy initiation schools to rescue young boys from the risk of infections, penile amputations, and death.
I don't care about dubious reports about "health benefits" from circumcision, it's still an ancient and barbaric custom that should be outlawed, and that should never, ever be forced on a person without that person being informed about the possible consequences and being given the opportunity to choose for himself whethe
Well, I wasted over 4 hours of my life on today's test. Just before the moment of truth, when the dye is injected into the arm, the injector injected too soon, and the test was no good. I have to re-schedule :-(
In Atlanta, the niece of 92-year-old Kathryn Johnston has filed a lawsuit for wrongful death. Last November, police conducted a drug raid based on a faulty tip from an informant.
Narcotics officers burst into Johnson’s home on a no-knock warrant, inspiring her to fire at the unknown intruders in self-protection. Police fired back, killing the woman. Two officers have already plead guilty to manslaughter while a third is awaiting other charges.
The wrongful death lawsuit is expected to be filed within the next two weeks. A claim has already been made by the niece, which usually precedes litigation.
Do you remember a story from just prior to Thanksgiving 2006 here in Atlanta in which a bunch of Drugwar Cowboys killed an elderly woman in a botched raid?
Police said the woman, identified by relatives as Kathryn Johnston, was shot to death after she wounded three plainclothes officers trying to serve a drug warrant [...]

The botched US raid that led to the hostage crisis : "A failed American attempt to abduct two senior Iranian security officers on an official visit to northern Iraq was the starting pistol for a crisis that 10 weeks later led to Iranians seizing 15 British sailors and Marines.Early on the morning of 11 January, helicopter-born US forces launched a surprise raid on a long-established Iranian liaison office in the city of Arbil in Iraqi Kurdistan. They captured five relatively junior Iranian officials whom the US accuses of being intelligence agents and still holds. In reality the US attack had a far more ambitious objective, The Independent has learned. The aim of the raid, launched without informing the Kurdish authorities, was to seize two men at the very heart of the Iranian security establishment."
The General Secretary of the Arab League's initiative is as good as dead. From the start it looked barren, and knowing the past records of Amro Moussa that perspective was reinforced. Meanwhile, a large stash of weapons was found in the premises of one of the opposition's parties. I will start with the weapon stash. The Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) a pro-Syrian group, that does not believe in the finality of Lebanon as a free country, was caught red handed stashing a large cash of arms, explosive material and detonators. They claimed that these weapons were remnants from the civil war, but the latest reports indiquated that the explosives are relatively new. I wonder what they have been doing with these explosives. Maybe killing March 14 leaders? I will let justice decide, but what I do not understand is how people are still defending this party, which all along Lebanon's history, has been involved in many assassinations (President Bahsir Gemayel for example) Concerning th

Turns out "burglar" lived there…
When part time Broken Springs officer Keith Mauve noticed a dark skinned male moving suspiciously on the property across the street from where Mauve was moonlighting as a very tardy gas man, he thought he was witnessing a crime in progress. But his impromptu sting operation fell apart when he discovered that the cell phone clipped to his belt was dead. Frantically, as if he'd inhaled too many gas fumes, he pounded on the door of the house where he was working, but to his dismay the single woman inside wouldn't let a stranger like him in to use her phone. Not wishing to blow his undercover status as a police officer, Mauve withheld his true identity and attempted to push his way into the house anyway. But thanks to Geritol, the tiny woman was stronger than she looked and he was unable to carry through with his plan. Frustrated, he told her she was going to blow everything and because he'd just installed a gas line, the woman thought he was t
