In fact, we may have this assumption because of a misunderstanding or skew in the reporting of such facts. The Baby Boomers are approximately 78 million people that were born from 1946 to 1964. To put the Baby Boomers in perspective one only needs to look at the basic statistics that illustrate the immense size and power of this demographic. For instance, approximately 7,918 people in the US turned 60 each day in 2006. The Bureau of the Census estimates that there will be twice as many persons age 65 or older in 2030 as there are today: 69 million (20 percent of the population) versus 34 million (13 percent of the population). Likewise, the Bureau’s population projection, from its middle series, shows 18 million persons age 85 or older in 2050 (4 1/2 percent of the U.S. population); now, there are less than 4 million persons in that age group (1 1/2 percent of the U.S. population). - “Retirement Prospects of Baby Boomers - Statistical Data Included&ldq

But from protests to caucuses and polling places, the time has come for them to join politically active Gen Y, X, and Baby Boomers in opposing the policies that will leave them (and the generations of Americans who will follow them) poorer and less competitive in a global economy. Baby boomers are starting to feel the aches, pains and weight gain of aging. Because they, like others, want to feel younger for longer, food companies and food researchers are striving to reach their needs. Increased amounts of nutritional supplements and antioxidants, including calcium, vitamin D and zinc, can slow the rate of age-related disease and increase the number of healthy years, according Jeffrey Blumberg, a nutrition scientist at Tufts University and speaker here at the Institute of Food Technologists Annual Meeting & Food Expo. “Delaying the onset of disease for five to 15 years can have an impact on public health and on one’s own health,” he said. Baby Boomers Putting New Spin On Funerals
Baby Boomers Putting New Spin On FuneralsInstead of traditional funerals, boomers are planning "celebrations" and services that memorialize personalities, forgoing Amazing Grace played on the organ for the Rolling Stones' music through a sound system. From slide presentations, videos, slot machines, camping themes and more. The 'funneral' becomes a showplace of ones life.Inside his Phoenix funeral home, Craig Hansen has re-created a casino where mourners, in honor of the departed, played slot machines.Money dropped into the machines is donated to the deceased's favorite charity. At another farewell, the funeral director simulated a campsite because the deceased had loved to camp. He pitched a tent and brought in a faux fire. And, recently, when an armored truck wouldn't fit through the door of the funeral home, the truck was parked in the driveway with a banner that read, "You can't take it with you."Hansen and funeral directors like him have a unique window into the 21st-century

      Baby Boomers Looking for Successors.
In our marketing efforts to find new business listings, we find that baby boomers in the retirement age represent a large percentage of business sellers. In most cases, selling their business is the only remaining option. Their children are offen not interested in taking over the business for multiple reasons:   Children are seeking more independence from their parents and do not share the values and strategies the parents are following in their businesses. Children do not necessarily have the entrepreneurial spirit that has driven their parents to start and take the business to its current level of success. Their life goals might not be similar to those of their parents. Parents are bright entrepreneurs but not necessarily good managers. They have hard time sharing information with the children and delegating tasks. This incapacity to delegate often frustrates children. This situation creates great opportunities for business buyers. A lot of excellent businesses for sale will b

Baby Boomers, Help Me and Help Han
flangracneig pgoramian That is freaky. Last night, I dreamt that Fern gave birth and Han announced to me when I arrived in Canterbury that she was pregnant. I seriously hope only the former happens. In other news, I feel I’ve been a bit uninspired as of late, and it shows - both with my comments and adsense being way down on the previous month. I feel that - like all great men such as Bruce Banner, Jeremy Clarkson and Simon Cowell - I’m best when I’m angry. Unfortunately, I’m pretty content at the moment (unless of course the latter turns out to be true in the above paragraphs). So, I feel if I’m to get back into the rut, I need something to anger me. Or it to snow again. Finally, please help Han by voting for her in the JPG magazine. She could get published - and I believe her photography is amazing enough to do so. Right, I’m off to Canterbury, hopefully it’ll give me something blogworthy. See you Monday! Technorati Tags:baby, birth, dreams,

      Baby Boomers seeking cultural travel
Cultural destinations have seen a 50% increase in sales during the period from 2000 to 2005. This increase has been atributed to the desire of “Baby Boomers” to visit more cultural attractions such as art galleries, museums and historic buidlings. More towns and regions are trying to capitalise on this trend by marketing their natural and historic attributes to encourage visitors. I think it is more general trend toward getting more out of your leisure time and holidays especially if you have the free time, good health and disposable income of a typical “Baby Boomer”. Other travellers are also looking for more from a holiday than lying on a beach and staying around a resort. They want to experience something that is unique, interesting and authentic at their destination for example somewhere such as Besalu in northern Spain.

What does the future hold for the Baby Boomers?
Baby boomers face a bleak financial future. This all too common line seems to be finally sinking in, as many of the baby boomer generation are beginning to take a proactive approach to their retirement planning. As well as increasing personal superannuation contributions, many have begun to look at direct investing in both the share market and property markets. Unfortunately many of the property marketeering companies operating in Australia have sought to take advantage of this, and have targeted their marketing campaigns at them. Two tiered marketing, where property companies sell investment properties (often off the plan) to interstate buyers, who are unaware of the current genuine market climate at highly inflated prices often $30,000.00 to $50,000.00 above true market value, have been rife in Australia for several years. The companies have a highly organised and professional approach, beginning with a free seminar that highlights the advantages of property investment and then offer

      Baby Boomers Beware
Yes, I am a baby boomer. People frequently ask me why I have started a business in my mid 50's. What an absurd question that is. My life is just beginning and I want to live it in an extreme way. There are many things I have not yet accomplished, in fact, I have a list of over 100 things yet to do in this life.At age 53, I realized that I had very little to retire on. The attack of 911 wiped out my 401k which I actually see as a blessing now. To think that I would have even considered retiring wtih just a quarter of a million saved. How long would that have lasted? When I started my business, I knew that continuing on the road of the "work world" would do very little at my age to give me the lifestyle I really wanted. Instead, I took the higher road, the road of creating my own life. Looking back, it is the best decision I have ever made (except for marrying my wonderful husband of course).Baby Boomers or shall we say anyone in the world of being an employee is fooled into thi
