[A Kanye hater at Bonnaroo]
K. West’s sat idly while a world of blog-hate has rained down on his 4:25 am performance at Bonnaroo and all the narcissism and diva-posturing it suggested.
He chimed in yesterday in true form. Quote:

Alright, alright, I know their show was on Thursday, June 12th, which makes this write up far from recent, but in my defense, this was my first time attending Bonnaroo, and taking time to write live reviews would have interfered with getting a truly authentic festival experience. After all, [...]

The people at the Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee were not too happy with Mr. Kanye West last week after his 2-hour delayed performance! And the wonderful reason for this mess was his elaborate light show! I love Kanye but sometimes all you need is a mic and a stage boo-boo!

The line-up for this year’s Bonnaroo Festival has just been announced.
For the uninitiated, Bonaroo is a four-day music and arts festival held on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee. Similar to Woodstock, Coachella and the late lamented Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo attracts a wide array of very high-profile acts, as well as cool up-and-coming artists [...]
Get over it. Get over the fact that this year you won’t have to be on a farm in Tennessee to catch My Morning Jacket jamming out year-long sets of their new album, Evil Urges. This year you can just scroll your TiVo on over to Fuse TV and record six hours of one of the greatest live music festivals offered today
Well, I bought my ticket for this year's Bonnaroo music festival for the exorbitant price of $277. It's a lot, but it's such a crazy unique time that I feel like it's worth. Plus, I'm also at a place in my life where I actually have some disposable income.
[singlepic=168,220,200,,left]The last Bonnaroo I went to was in 2001, might have been 2000. The whole thing is a blur, probably partly Bonnaroo's fault. Back then the tickets were $140 and I thought that was insane too. In fact, I thought it was so ridiculous I hatched a scheme with several other people to sneak in...
Promoters for major music festivals realize that beating the others to the punch as far as announcing lineup and ticket sale dates could mean the difference in tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. Many fest heads need to plan early which festivals they want to go to, so the sooner a lineup is announced, the better the odds (if the lineup is good) are in favor of that festival - like Coachella, partly because it's so early, usually April. Therefore, fest promoters rush to get the lineup out with the hopes that many people will plan to go to their festival rather than a competing festival. Unless you are geographically close to many festivals - say if you live in the northeast or mid-Atlantic - or happen to have a lot of time and money, many festival lovers have to pick and choose. So,
Rumors of a 2008 tour by the aging rockers have been flying after their long-anticipated concert in London Monday received rave reviews. Plant announced via his website that he and Krauss will tour Britain and Europe in May. The duoÂ’s Raising Sand tour is expected to be followed by U.S. dates in the middle of the year
After a rumor that Led Zeppelin and Metallica would headline the 2008 Bonnaroo festival caused an Internet frenzy in the past 48 hours, the event's promoters have spoken out to quash the reports."The rumors that are out there about the Bonnaroo 2008 headliners are inaccurate," Superfly Presents and A.C. Entertainment said in a statement released to Billboard.com. "We're very excited about the lineup that we're putting together for this year's festival. We'll be announcing the confirmed lineup toward the end of January/beginning of February. The source of the Zeppelin/Metallica rumor was an anonymous email included last week in industry commentator Bob Lefsetz's newsletter.Led Zeppelin will play its only planned show Dec. 10 in London as part of a tribute to late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.
Led Zeppelin will play its first U.S. rock concert since July 24, 1977, this June at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tenn., according to an email published in industry commentator Bob Lefsetz's newsletter. The report also says Metallica will headline the event.Led Zeppelin Speculation about additional shows for Zeppelin, which will play a stated one-off Dec. 10 in London in tribute to late Atlantic founder Ahmet Ertegun, has been buzzing for weeks. A Bonnaroo spokesperson had no comment on the email. A Led Zeppelin spokesperson could not be reached at deadline. Summer Zeppelin rock shows would reportedly conflict with a tour by frontman Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, which is presently being booked. However, Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones has played at Bonnaroo on several occasions, most recently this summer when he jammed on his old band's songs with Ben Harper and the Roots' ?uestlove.MetallicaAs for Metallica, Bonnaroo would likely provide a launching pad for the group's
If youre a Zep fan, youve probably been feeling like the legendary band has been toying with your emotions for weeks on end due to rumors of a U.S. tour. You have subsequent insomnia just thinking about the possibility of such an event. You constantly scour Ticketmaster like Charlie looking for the Golden Ticket. You watch old concert footage OnDemand or via the Mothership CD/DVD set. Youve had Zeppelin-induced hallucinations and dreams about an upcoming tour and wake to find its just a rumor, which sends you into a deep depression that causes you to get the Led out in a sorry attempt to soothe your broken soul.
Upon entering the festival for the first time, my friend Jamie remarked, Isnt this the best adult carnival ever? Some random dude stood on the path to the festival wishing everyone a Happy Bonnaroo, undeniably excited to do so. For the first three days, the festival pulsated with the good vibes possible when everyone is committed to celebration. And whats a celebration without music and dancing?

This is how it works
It feels a little worse
Than when we drove our hearse
Right through that screaming crowd
While laughing up a storm
Until we were just bone
Until it got so warm
That none of us could sleep
And all the styrofoam
Began to melt away
We tried to find some worms
To aid in the decay
But none of them were home
Inside their catacomb
A million ancient bees
Began to sting our knees
While we were on our knees
Praying that disease
Would leave the ones we love
And never come again
On the radio
We heard November Rain
That solo’s really long
But it’s a pretty song
We listened to it twice
‘Cause the DJ was asleep
This is how it works
You’re young until you’re not
You love until you don’t
You try until you can’t
You laugh until you cry
You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe
Until their dying breath
No, this is how it works

What better to way to revive the good feelings and recapture some of those good vibes than to remember all that was great about Bonnaroo 2007? Ive been looking forward to writing this one all week. So here it is, ladies and gentlemen, the Best of Bonnaroo (as experienced by this humble reporter). To start things off, suppose its only fitting to designate the Bonnaroo MVP
I think it is safe to say that I came into this blogging thing as a huge music fan, and will always remain that. So, allow me to go all fanboy on you for one post please. I got a chance to meet some of my favorite people down at Bonnaroo, and even interview a bunch of them, here are some photos with some of them, because I’m a nerd like that. You will have to forgive the unshaven ‘roo’ look I’m sportin….

Nothing about the festival was terrible, and thats why this article is not called The Worst of Bonnaroo. Rather, with all the awesomeness swirling around the Bonnaroo grounds, a couple things were simply mediocre: not great, not awful, just kind of there. Ive sat here all week humping everything about the festival; therefore, its only fair that I point out those things that werent quite up to snuff.
There were upward of 75 performances a day at Bonnaroo, across two main stages, three fairly large tents and several smaller stages scattered throughout the park. Ive already covered shows by the festival headliners and larger acts, but there were so many more bands constantly playing throughout the park that mentioning only those everyone knows seems kind of worthless. Or, at the very least, in violation of the spirit of the festival.
Well, it’s kinda tough when you attend a festival like Bonnaroo and don’t get to talk about it much. But, no complaining here, as the fruits of our labor will almost all be located over on The Futurist, the WOXY blog, which I also run, (in case you didn’t know). We did about 25 video interviews during the weekend. Some of the bands we talked to include Ben Harper, The Black Angels, Nels Cline of Wilco, The Decemberists, Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips (pic proof above), Spoon, The Little Ones, EL-P and lots more.
Also, we are kinda obsessed with concert photos, (as many other bloggers are as well) and snapped nearly 900 during our stay down in Manchester, TN. All of those are already making their way up on The Futurist as well. So, look for the majority of our Bonnaroo coverage to make it’s way up over there (and a bit here as well) and for ENS to get back in the flow of bringing new music to you, as soon as we can get to this stack of email and mail. See
I had the chance Saturday night to attend, with my bandmates, The Police show at Bonnaroo Festival outside of Manchester, Tennessee. It was a great show in that Mount Rushmore kind of way. Check it off the list, I've seen The Police now. I've seen some negative reviews around the web about their set, and I think that shows that the expectations at Bonnaroo are so much higher than at a normal concert. You had The Police playing their hits. Good enough, right? Not for many. Bonnaroo has become known for extended jams and special moments. In a nutshell, it has become expected that bands will exceed expectations. So in a case like this where they merely meet them, it's seen as a negative. Oh well - I had fun. Part of what made it fun is that we ended up standing with the guys from Sanctus Real for most of the show. They're cool guys, and it's good to share a concert with someone who's listening for the same things (tone, timing, parts).
Later that evening (oh yes - Bonn
Meg White took center stage to sing In the Cold, Cold Night, while later on some guy had Jack read a note proposing marriage to a girlfriend (cheesy, yes, but having Mr. White read a note to your girl at Bonnaroo sure beats the hell out of using the scoreboard at a baseball game). Awesome times all around
The Police played exactly the show you'd expect them to play, littered with hits and women going crazy over Sting. In the spirit of the festival, they even jammed out on a few songs. It's easy to forget with all the reunion hooplah how amazing the Police are, and they know how to connect with a crowd of 70,000. That said, they ended 50 minutes early with no encore. Rest assured, though, those of you who spent upward of two bills to see the Police later this summer will more than get your money's worth.
My best guess puts the Tool crowd at around 70,000 or so, give or take a grand. There were people of every stripe, as far as you could see, and they were very excited for the coming show. So excited, in fact, the crowd may have put the band at a disadvantage. Aggressive and borderline insane, the music was pretty much what could be expected. But Maynard just sort of stood in the back, behind the drummer practically, and got snarky a couple times.
Greetings from the media lounge at Bonnaroo 2007. I don't have a lot of time here because a lot of people here need to check their MySpace pages, but to say this festival is off to a good start is an understatement. A few highlights so far: The National rocked the set out, converting more than a few unfamiliar festivalgoers in the process. Rodrigo y Gabriela are conjurers--their late-night set shook up those in the modestly packed tent.
Each Note Secure will be taking our very first trip into the Tennessee sun for the Bonnaroo festival this week. In addition to it being as hot as hell, the festival is boasting a really great lineup again this year. Here are some acts we especially excited to see this week.
Spoon
Lily Allen
Wilco
Annuals
DJ Shadow
The Flaming Lips
The Decemberists
Feist
The National
Regina Spektor
And really, too many to list. For all of our coverage, or at least most of it, you are gonna have to head over to The Futurist, as I will be doing video interviews and taking loads of pictures at the event…..

The kind folks at Bonnaroo have released the artist schedule for this years festival, taking place in Manchester, Tenn., from Thursday, June 14 to Sunday, June 17. We already knew the lineup, but there were some anticipated time clashes. Theres a ton of quality bands to see, and Im glad it wasnt my job to sort this mess out: I can barely plan my own viewing schedule
Now that the folks at SuperFly have posted a partial lineup for Bonnaroo 2007, I am in something of a quandry; having already made plans to basically spend the month of April in the States, I am having trouble convincing myself of the sanity of turning around and heading back across the pond in early June.
With tickets going on sale in four days however, I have to decide sooner rather than later, as tickets tend to sell out rather quickly, even with 90,000 of them on offer.
The thing that makes the decision difficult is that even with the cost of flights, it will come out being about the same cost, or slightly cheaper than going to Glastonbury later in June. Perhaps if someone were to secure tickets (Tony, are you out there?) to Bonnaroo, I could come over and go, and whoever was nice enough to do so could move into my flat for as long as they wanted.

On Tuesday, June 24th, Kanye West fought back against heavy criticism and defended his Bonnaroo performance via his blog. In some ways I feel slightly bad for him, just because he has taken so much flak. Here are some of the highlights of what Kanye said in his post:
