Sega Superstars Tennis bombs, down to $20
Despite our enthusiasm (and the enthusiasm of Sega fanboys everywhere) over Sega Superstars Tennis, a release that drips with fan service, the game failed to inspire consumers to rush out and buy the game like they did with Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games? Not enough Mario, perhaps? Or olympics?Whatever the case, slow sales for the tennis title has given GameStop early cause to slash its prices for Sega Superstars Tennis across all platforms, and you can now buy the Wii game for as little as $19.99. It's a great bargain, considering the game was released only a month ago! You can order Sega Superstars Tennis through GameStop's online shop, but why not save a few bucks and pick it up at one of the retailer's local stores?Gallery: Sega Superstars Tennis

One correspondent asserts that "an hotel is correct because the word is French and you are not supposed to pronouce the h but rather say an 'otel".Turning to the very first page of Fowler's I immediately found that 'an' which I have always called the indefinite article, is known to grammarians as a central determiner. Which would be a great fact to use at a cocktail party, were I ever to be invited to one.But on the use of a/an bef

Conscious lyrics with great grooves, a perfect modern mix for dancefloor or iPod.Only problem is there's not enough goodness. The CD has just five songs plus shorter radio remixes of three of those songs, which is good for us radio hosts, since the original lengths range from 6 to 11 minutes long. One of the songs may be familiar to you if you've picked up Ikwunga's first album, or the Afrobeat Sudan Aid Project or Indestructible African Beats 2005 compilations. Eleven U.N. staff among dead in Algeria bombs: U.N.
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Eleven U.N. employees are believed to have been among those killed when car bombs hit U.N. and other buildings in Algiers on Tuesday and more U.N. staff were still unaccounted for, a U.N. spokeswoman said. At least 26 people were killed when suspected al Qaeda militants detonated twin car bombs in Algeria's capital, in one of the bloodiest attacks since civil strife in the 1990s. An official tally put the death toll at 26, while a Health Ministry source said 67 people were killed. Algeria's state radio, monitored by the BBC in London, said the dead included three Asian nationals, a Dane and one Senegalese. "We are now putting the U.N. death toll at 11," U.N. spokeswoman Marie Okabe said. Earlier she said, "A number of staff still remain unaccounted for and the situation, as you know, remains fluid." A U.N. statement said one of the two blasts destroyed the offices of the U.N. Development Program, or UNDP, and severely damaged the off

Bombs Over September (Part I of II)Toward the end of the year I developed the itch in a bad way – senioritis, that is. On the morning of May 3, 2002, Big Easy and I planned our escape from school for the first showing of Spider-Man. We produced an elaborate plan just in case the security guard stopped us on our way out. When second period ended we each left our respective classes and nervously headed for the front door. Big Easy was about 20 feet in front of me. Please don’t look back and make us look suspicious. We escaped unharmed and saw Spider-Man in a packed theater. “I wish I was bitten by a super spider,” Big Easy said when it ended.I had a collection of homework assignments due in my calculus class later that day. I left them with a friend to turn in for me, along with a note that read: “I had to go see Spider-Man. Please don’t punish me. Actually, today is my last day of physical therapy. After 15 ½ months I’m finally done.” I finished the note with a smiley f

Did I Read That A Proposed Solution To Global Warming Is To Drop A Few Nuclear Bombs Somewhere?
The other day, I could have sworn I read something somewhere about George Bush holding onto a last-ditch effort to "fix" global warming by detonating nuclear weapons at precise locations. Maybe out in the ocean somewhere? Where did I read this? I can't find it on the net... Maybe someone knows where this story is, or if it even exists? If we bombed the ocean, what would that do? Nuclear weapons are hot, so it would release energy that would heat up the immediate area. More global warming?Maybe the idea was to disrupt some ocean currents so that instead of moving in a "heating" pattern, they adjust to a "cooling" pattern. That could work -- maybe.I don't know...Maybe I made the story up and forgot that its roots were in the Land of Imagination. But I could have sworn I read it somewhere! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dennis Miller once made a joke that liberals will get behind the War in Iraq when we can develop Green weapons. Well, it appears that the Russians have done just that with arguably the most powerful bomb ever invented. It also appears they have convinced the liberal media around the world that the development of this bomb is a good thing. In fact, another article from Australia focused almost exclusively on the environmental benefits. How do they know it is environmentally friendly? Col. Gen. Alexander Rukshin, a deputy chief of the Russian military's General Staff said, "Unlike a nuclear weapon, the bomb doesn't hurt the environment." So this became the story. Wow!! The Iranian shelling has been criticized by Iraqi officials and Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari warned it could have negative effects on the crucial relations between Iran and Iraq’s Shiite-led government.Ari Yashir, a PEJAK member, took a reporter in a tour around several deserted villages and claimed the Iranian attacks only serve to harm civilians. At the Convention on Conventional Weapons in Geneva last month, Bush administration officials said that the threat to civilians from cluster munitions is “episodic” and “manageable within current response mechanisms” – presumably unless you’re a child attracted by the bomblets. They said it “only” took two years to clear the high-risk affected areas in Kosovo after 1999, but also admitted that eight years later, unexploded bomblets remain. They cited 10 countries threatened by cluster bombs – Afghanistan, Albania, Cambodia, Iraq, Laos, Lebanon, Montenegro, Serbia, and Vietnam – as well as Kosovo, leaving out another 20 countries so affected. Separately, the US State Department has said that Israel may have illegally used US-made cluster bombs in Lebanon, but welcomes that it will take “only” a year and a half to largely clean up the remnants. The Bush administration urged the convention to consider voluntary pledge

Splitters and drop a bombs and parking salaries for BONDEES
Recently I was asked by question from Alex on an earlier article so I thought I would share this as you need to step up your creative juices. It is your money after all. Change your own spots.....be the bankerYes splitters and bomb drops and parking your salary all end up towards a similar end result. Either easing your home loan payment load or playing bank yourself and using your home loan account as a kind of savings account. The banks in general prefer to MANAGE your money for you, but of course at a service cost. The key to all of this is DO YOU HAVE ACCESS TO ANY ADDITIONAL MONEY PAID INTO YOUR BOND ACCOUNT.SO instead of splitters etc try to stay away from stop orders etc. Instead turn your bond account into your current account.Make sure you have Internet access to both your bond account and your current account. If you can link them together even better so.Then make sure your salaries or income is paid into your bond account on a monthly basis. AT month end transfer the total su

Iran-made bombs in Afghanistan like those Tehran sends to Iraq and Hizballah in Lebanon
US Col. Thomas Kelly reported finding four of the explosively-formed projectiles in Herat near the Iranian border and one a month ago in the capital Kabul. He said Taliban insurgents may have access to the device but may not yet know how to use them.DEBKAfile reveal that the six Spanish peacekeepers killed in South Lebanon last month were not attacked by a suicide bomber but an early version of the armor-piercing EFP disguised as a rock. This model was developed by Hizballah and widely used with deadly effect against Israeli forces maintaining a security belt in South Lebanon in the 1980s.U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said in June that "substantial" quantities of Iranian weapons are flowing into Afghanistan and that it was difficult to believe the Iranian government was not aware of it.

BNP men planned bombs for 'race war'
Two British National party members plotted to make bombs in readiness for a "civil war between races", a court was told yesterday. A former candidate for the party stashed boxes of chemicals at his home after buying them online at the instruction of a local dentist and fellow BNP member, jurors at Manchester crown court heard. However, the hoard amassed by Robert Cottage, 49, of Colne, Lancashire, came to light when his wife told her social worker she was scared that Cottage and 62-year-old David Jackson were planning to test chemical weapons in the local countryside. "He had just lost the plot - he just started acting really strange," Kerena Cottage, 29, told the court via videolink. "What he was saying - it sounded to me as if he was delusional." Prosecutor Louise Blackwell QC told the jury Cottage had emailed orders for the chemicals, which could be combined to make crude bombs, in September 2006. Four months earlier, he had tried to win a seat on Colne council for the second time. M

Latest Taliban car bombs and beheadings
Three policemen beheaded, two car bombs, pieces of flesh strewn over a wide area - it's another fine day in Afghanistan: Two suicide car bombs ripped into security vehicles in Afghanistan Thursday, killing two foreigners and two Afghans, officials said, also reporting that the Taleban had beheaded three policemen. The deadliest suicide attack was in the capital Kabul, the third such blast to hit the capital this month. The bomber exploded his car near the vehicle of a private security company involved in mentoring the Afghan police, Afghan security officials said. ... The force of the blast ripped off one side of an armoured Land Cruiser, an AFP reporter at the site said. Pieces of flesh, apparently from the attacker, were strewn up to 80 metres (yards) from the destroyed car and charred chunks of plastic and metal littered the ground. ‘I heard a big explosion from the main road and then saw a big flame like you had poured a barrel of petrol on the vehicle,’ said a shopkee

      Air Force Wants F-Bombs
Literally. According to ABC News, about $10 billion of the Pentagon’s budget this year will go to nontraditional spending. Not interesting until you know some of the things they might spend it on. Three years ago, for instance, the military funded a study of psychic teleportation, which resulted in a 88-page result concluding that moving through mind powers is “quite real and can be controlled.” Sorry, Air Force Research Lab, it’s been done already, with a sequel. Other possibilities include armor that makes you invisible and armed sharks that spy on the enemy. No doubt there’ll be a few invisible shark-heroes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Perhaps the best is the request from an Ohio Air Force labaratory for $7.5 million of our tax money for the purpose of creating a “gay bomb.” Theoretically, it will use strong aphrodisiacs to make enemies so attracted to each other that they’d have no time to fight. “We spend a lot of time talking to t

      Scud bombs on reality TV
THE Scud was a dud in the US TV ratings last night, when Mark Philippoussis’s new dating reality TV show, Age Of Love , made a bad debut on America’s NBC TV network. The Australian tennis star is using the show to find love, but he felt little from the American public with Age of Love finishing in a bleak third place in last night’s 9pm timeslot. Despite plenty of hype for Philippoussis’s show, more Americans tuned in to watch repeats on rival CBS network of the half-hour sitcoms, more…

Christians seek protection after Islamic extremists warn them to convert or face bombs
Pakistani Christians living in a town beset by pro-Taliban militants sought government protection on Wednesday, a day before the expiry of an ultimatum warning them to convert.About 500 Christians in Charsadda, a town in North West Frontier Province bordering Afghanistan, received threatening letters earlier this month telling them to shutter their churches and convert to Islam by May 17 or face "bomb explosions."Community leaders say several Christians — a tiny minority in predominantly Muslim Pakistan — have fled the town and that others are living in fear.Chaudhry Salim, a Christian leader in Charsadda, said police had not taken the threat seriously."Police say someone is joking with us by writing these letters," Salim said at a news conference in the capital. "They have deployed only two policemen at our churches ... this is the kind of security we are getting now."More

      Iran Helping Iraqis Build Bombs
Iranian intelligence operatives have been training Iraqi fighters inside Iran on how to use and assemble deadly roadside bombs known as EFPs, the U.S. military spokesman said Wednesday. Commanders of a splinter group inside the Shiite Mahdi Army militia have told The Associated Press that there are as many as 4,000 members of their organization that were trained in Iran and that they have stockpiles of EFPs, a weapon that causes great uneasiness among U.S. forces here because they penetrate heavily armored vehicles. U.S. military spokesman Maj. Gen. William Caldwell would not say how many militia fighters had been trained in Iran but said that questioning of fighters captured as recently as this month confirmed many had been in Iranian training camps. "We know that they are being in fact manufactured and smuggled into this country, and we know that training does go on in Iran for people to learn how to assemble them and how to employ them. We know that training has gone on as recently

We’d set up a joint bank account to deal with electricity bills and all that - seemed like the easiest thing to do. You’d think so. Our electricity bill came in some time ago; massive. £450 - for a quarter I think? Sounds like a lot to me… Anyway, we all dealt with it apart from one who despite being pestered about it seems to think it’s above him or some sh*t, I don’t know. It got to the stage where we had final warnings threatening visits from the baliffs.. Niiiice. Eventually he apparently got his act together and claimed to have paid in his part and called up the company and sorted out the bill so that was over with.. ‘Apparently’ being the operative word, as ever. Troops Finding Fewer Roadside Bombs
Thanks to the Baghdad security plan, U.S. troops working in the city's vast northern sector are dealing with 40 percent fewer roadside bombs these days, their commander, Army Col. Paul Funk, said Friday. "I used to see somewhere in the neighborhood of 120 [improvised explosives] a month," he said. "Now I'm down to less than 65 to 70." Funk, who leads the 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, spoke with Pentagon reporters in a remote briefing from his headquarters at Camp Taji, Iraq. He said that the drop has occurred since the 3,800 soldiers of the "Iron Horse" Brigade Combat Team deployed to Taji from Fort Food, Texas, in November 2006. To date, the brigade has found a total of 330 roadside bombs since formally taking over the sector in the early part of December, Funk said. Funk said that he believes the reason that his troops are encountering fewer bombs is because "the enemy doesn't have time to do as thorough a reconnaissance as they used to when they put them in." Overall, Funk s

Bomb Scare Gives Irish Army Opportunity To Play With Their Really Cool Robot The Irish have a different way of dealing with them than the Libyans (The robot has since filed a deafness claim….) When the bombs fall, and then all is silent, the lives of the survivors may also be silent. Bombs are very loud. Noise levels as high as 110 to 130 decibels have been documented in bombing practices. (Other war-related sounds can be painful, such as shotgun blasts or the sound of jet planes taking off from as little as 100 feet away). Being exposed to sound that loud, even once, can cause hearing loss. Any sound above 85 decibels is considered a potentially damaging threshold. Britain's Nuclear Bombs
Some months ago, there was speculation that Tony Blair might be making overtures for the job of UN Secretary General. People debated whether he would be satisfied with the salary, which would be low compared with how much he is expected to earn on the lecture circuit after he leaves office. It would, people were arguing, depend upon whether his desire to be seen and remembered as a statesman would win out over his financial aspirations. At the same time, Private Eye  made the comment that Tony Blair’s cabinet reshuffle might reflect his desire to have people around him who were friendly towards the nuclear industry. There may even have been an insinuation that Our Dear Leader would perhaps pursue a career in that area after leaving office. Today, it seems that the ease with which Britain was to be tied to nuclear commitments without proper consultation has come unravelled. Campaigning group Greenpeace has won a High Court judgment against the government, which has been shown to

      Ethiopia bombs jihadists in Somalia
While it's good that they're slaying scum, they may be working on it while facing opposition. From the New York Times (Hat tip: Hot Air):Though western diplomats had been urging Ethiopia to use restraint, Ethiopia's attacks today did not come as a surprise. The question now seems to be if Ethiopia will go into Mogadishu and try to finish off the Islamist military, which many fear could spur a long and ugly insurgency, or simply deal them enough of a blow to force them back to the negotiating table with the transitional government. Ethiopia's prime minister recently told American officials that he could wipe out the Islamists "in one to two weeks"What complicates the issue is the presence of other foreign troops inside Somalia and the rising potential for Somalia's neighbors to be dragged in. United Nations officials estimate that there are several thousand soldiers from Eritrea, Ethiopia's arch-enemy, fighting for the Islamists, along with a growing number of Muslim merc
