Iraqi officials said the death toll from the bombing rose to 63, including women [...]

I learned a few things from Eddie Izzard the other night about how to deal with bombing. When one of his jokes triggered only a few chuckles, he responded, "Thank you 12 people."At one point, he said in response to another flat joke, "So it's true but not funny -- that's what you're saying."Eddie frequently plays two characters having a conversation onstage. During this show, when a joke wasn't working, the two characters would occasionally discuss the audience's response. All of these techniques brought more laughs.I think this was my favorite response of the night: "Just shut up, will you? I know one or two people have heckled, but I will kill you. It's the middle of a flow. What was I saying?"This is a great lesson for speakers. There are times when your audience will start to drift off,

In internet terminology “mail bombing” is referred to an act of sending or forwarding huge amounts of email to a particular person’s mailbox or system. By mail bombing somebody’s mail box, you can actually fill up or overflow or overwhelm the recipients mailbox space. It can create great inconvenience to the recipient and cause the recipients server to have technical faults such as stop functioning, becoming slow, etc. Many people are of the opinion that mail bombing somebody’s mail box is an unethical behavior and the sender should be hung, quartered and disembowelled.Having said that, something that is seemingly bad may not necessary be so if used correctly at the right place and the right time. If you know the mail bombing skill, the skill will help you when you are requ
NEW YORK — Investigators believe the bicyclist who bombed the Times Square military recruiting station is a local man with ties to chaos-crazed anarchy groups, a high-ranking law-enforcement source said yesterday.
Here's the latest on this story.... LINK: House Members receive letters, photo of NY recruiting station sent before bombing (via The Crypt's Blog @ Politico.com A number of House members were mailed a letter and photo of a Times Square recruiting station in Manhattan before it was bombed on Thursday morning, according to House insiders and law-enforcement officials. Initial information from Capitol Hill sources suggested the letters were sent only to eight House Democrats from the New York City area, but a senior House aide said many more members than that total could have received the missives. One source described the letter as a "20-page rambling rant," and the AP reported the envelopes included a "holiday greeting card" with the message "Hap

One of the two Algiers bomb attacks three days ago completely destroyed the third floor of the UN building. The floor of our offices. Most of the staff members were outside the office on a training course and therefore escaped the attack.Amongst the 11 UN staff members that died, we lost one colleague Gene Luna (Left in the picture). Gene (48) joined our organisation in 2002. She worked in Kandahar, Afghanistan first and transferred as finance officer to the Algeria office barely a week ago.At the time of her death, Luna, was part of our program assisting the food needs of thousands of refugees displaced by the 1975 conflict in Western Sahara. There are still 5 UN staff members missing. That is the What. Here is the Who: Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, considered the best-organized and best-financed terrorist group in North Africa. For a complete history of the group read this.
Before I tell you why this attack was possible, here is a little background: Sometime between 22 Feb and 23 Mar of 2003, 32 tourists (16 Germans, 10 Austrians, 4 Swiss, 1 Swede and 1 Dutchman) were abducted in the Algerian Sahara. Recently there was a new entry in the annals of Google bombing. Many of you may remember the infamous example of how the U.S. White House biography of George W Bush was returned in top place for the search “miserable failure”. John Prescott MP has been the victim of similar efforts, although for the sake of those with sensitive souls, we won’t repeat the relevant search phrase here. So what does this tell us? It should tell us that search engine optimization (SEO) isn’t all about stuffing pages with keywords. We promise you, the phrase “miserable failure” does not appear in either the content or the meta tags for George Bush’s biography page. So how is it done? Google bombing involves creating links to a certain page using the target keyword in the link. This is a legitimate method to use to improve search engine rankings, even if it is a method abused by the Google-bombers. All too often, organizations pay too little attention to the role that incoming links can play in

It’s now two days after the ruthless bombing of Glorietta mall last Friday which killed 11 and hurt more than a hundred others. Still, the investigations have brought up nothing conclusive despite a terror group’s claiming responsibility for the atrocity.
But already, not a few people have expressed the opinion that the bombing was perpetrated by the Palace to divert the public’s attention from the controversies hounding it - particularly the NBN scandal, impeachment, and the bribing of congressmen and governors.
Some members of the political opposition, particularly Senator Trillanes, have also issued statements consciously spreading this line.
I do not agree with this assertion.

The flames jetting 300 meters into the night sky and the black smoke billowing over the fertile flatlands of central Mexico's Bajio were not a good omen. According to a spokesperson for the national oil monopoly PEMEX, the two explosions that rocked installations in Guanajuato and Queretero states July 5th and 10th were caused by a sudden drop in pressure in two natural gas pipelines due to "pinchazos" or illicit perforations in the ducts to siphon off fuel. The explosions, which shredded aging, poorly-maintained infrastructure underscored the urgent need for private investment in the nationalized enterprise argued PEMEX director Jesus Heroles Jr., mimicking President Felipe Calderon's take on the subject. This method of going overboard on your link building efforts could be in the form of Google bombing. Google bombing is making a large number of sites give you a backlink using just one or just a few link titles more popularly known as anchor texts to gain a good search engine placement. (more…)

Some points:
1. It's terrible that people feel the need to do such things.
2. In 2007, Islam inspires many of its adherents, whether they interpret Islam correctly or not, to commit such acts.
3. It's up to other Muslims, if they care at all for the goodwill of other Americans, to help their countrymen fight this this brand of Islam.
5. It's up to non-Muslim Americans to, yes, calm down and not over-react to these dangerous amateurs. Over-reaction would include anything that thinks the other millions of Muslims in the United States support the Ft. Dix terrorists' sentiments (point #3 would help in this regard).

The bombing of Iraq's parliament by suspected al-Qaeda militants appears to have backfired by uniting Sunni and Shia politicians against a common enemy. At an extraordinary session of the parliament on Friday, politicians from both sides condemned the suicide attack and vowed to press forward with the political process, calling for unity against extremism. There were also signs that Sunni insurgents had had enough of their erstwhile al-Qaeda allies. "They have realised that those people are not working for Iraq's interests. They realised that their operations might destroy Iraq altogether," said Alaa Makki, a Sunni MP.Other politicians indicated that the bombing had worked against al-Qaeda. Insurgents in Iraq detonated an explosives-rigged vehicle with two children in the back seat after US soldiers let it through a Baghdad checkpoint over the weekend, a senior US military official said Tuesday.
The vehicle was stopped at the checkpoint but was allowed through when soldiers saw the children in the back, said Major General Michael Barbero of the Pentagon's Joint Staff.
"Children in the back seat lowered suspicion. We let it move through. They parked the vehicle, and the adults ran out and detonated it with the children in the back," Barbero said.
The general said it was the first time he had seen a report of insurgents using children in suicide bombings. But he said Al-Qaeda in Iraq is changing tactics in response to the tighter controls around the city.
A US defense official said the incident occurred on Sunday in Baghdad's Adhamiyah district, a mixed neighborhood adjacent to Sadr City, which is predominantly Shiite.

Mahmud Abouhalima, one of the 1993 WTC bombing plotters, calls Emad Salem. Salem is mad at the FBI about being fired and doesn’t bother to tell them about the phone call, and doesn’t call Abouhalima back. It will later be discovered that on that same day other plotters begin calling chemical companies in search of bomb parts and the next day another FBI informant is contacted and asked to help get bomb parts (see Mid-November-December 20, 1992 ( warning_signs:_specific_cases=firstwtcbombing#a122092wilsonmeeting)). Salem has bomb making expertise so it is likely Abouhalima was calling him to get h
