This was the first and only game that Bomberman and Wario were in the same game. It was setup like the traditional Bomberman game but with a twist. You could choose to play as either Bomberman or Wario. In 1-player mode you had to face a computer, then fight two computers, then fight three computers, then finally a Boss. That was considered a World. Wii News Bomberman Land will be released on the three systems in January 2008. The DS version will be titled Bomberman Land Touch 2. Though it has not confirmed online play for the game yet, publisher Hudson says the game will have an extensive focus on the multiplayer component.In addition to the classic battle mode that made the game franchise famous, Bomberman Land will include dozens of exclusive multiplayer mini-games. The PSP and Wii versions will each have 50 mini-games, while the DS title will have 40. According to Hudson, the only multiplayer mode will be for people who are in the same room. The DS and PSP will allow multiple people within close range to play against each other, without requiring each one to have their own cartridge. The DS will support single-pack play and the PSP will support game sharing.Each version of the game is slated for release in January 2008.

Foundation 9 Entertainment (F9E), the largest independent developer in North America, has now released more Xbox LIVE Arcade titles than any other developer. Bomberman Live marked the company’s 20th XBL Arcade release. Bomberman Live was developed by F9E’s Backbone Vancouver studio, published by Hudson Entertainment and has been very well received. The game was designed specifically for XBL and features up to 4-person local and 8-person online multiplayer action. I admit it, I am a Bomberman fan. I know the game isnt’ for everyone, but I even like the N64 versions and the side scrolling Game Boy ones, I just love this franchise, Hudson is a great company. Well here is the info along with pictures of all the new goodies, the 2 new levels will feature a Vegas style theme while the other will be on a Zeppelin of sorts “which features tornado environmental hazards that incapacitate players.” Very cool. Those lucky bastards at DESTRUCTOID have got a glimpse of what is to come with the great Bomberman Live on XBLA. New costumes are arriving (and I have hopes for new game play types), but for now, just a taste of what is to come was given. Yes, our favorite Bomberman is now sporting the Johnny Depp character written by Hunter S Thompson for the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Great film, not for the kids though). Just give me some Big Lebowski Bomberman costumes and I can die a happy man, for now though, this is one completely bad ass costume for Hudson to make for this game. I wish I could say more on this subject, but this picture is the only thing sent out, but as far as I am concerned, it is enough.

Bomberman Live is one of the little gems and will not only cost you 800 Microsoft points, but it just may make you want to take up blowing stuff up as a hobby. Hudson Soft rules for putting this video out. Since the announcement of the game coming out, to a really really short clip of some gameplay that came out about a month ago (link), the Bomberman team comes out with this video. From taking jabs at themselves for the horrible pain called Bomberman Act Zero, they show in a most amusing way, how the game was made, stemming from selling the idea itself to Microsoft, how they chose which powerups/levels/character designs would make it into the game, all the way to a cameo by a giant walking farting whoopie cushin (*spoiler alert* whoopie cushins didn’t make it into the game). Sweet. With so many games competing for the spotlight, it is very easy to forget about an XBLA title, even if it is Bomberman. A Belgian site released some pictures and information on a new Bomberman game. Well, now Hudson officially mentions in their announcement that “Bomberman Live is coming to XBLA this summer. The title will sport an “HD makeover” and 8-player online support. Along with the very robust online multiplayer, players will have full customization of their Bomberman” Of course there will be online play, and no doubt leaderboards, but just in case you want to kick it real real old school, you can do 4 player on the same Xbox. I already regret buying Bomberman ‘93 for Turbo Graphix on Nintendo’s Virtual Console.
