You know what, I struggle balancing this blog. I'd like nothing more than being able to post loads of positive stuff, but the reality is very, very different. That BBC Arena documentary about the Limelight (50 yards from this spot) leaped upon images like this rather than showing what Crewe can become. Social and financial problems are evident all over the country. But in Crewe, the High Town and West Street in particular areas are under attack. Not from vandals (although that, as with everywhere, is debatable) or bulldozers, but from lack of people's £s. Simple as that. Bespoke shops, long-standing businesses and clever ideas have struggled in recent years. The snap above portrays a bleak picture and with the town centre development just around the corner the writing is surely on the wall for this once proud area of Crewe... what do you reckon?
