Blooming 'eck! Madonna leaves her gym wearing Victorian bloomers
For years she has been a racy style icon but with her 50th birthday fast approaching it seems Madonna is opting for a more matronly look away from the cameras. The singer looks to be taking tips from the Victorians as she sports what appear to be a pair of bloomers after her daily gym session. Pale, gaunt and a little frumpy the picture is a million miles from the slick image portrayed in her

I remember many of my peers telling me how they so wanted to grow up and become adults.Being an adult was synonymous with being independent, respected, listened to and taken into consideration.Being an adult meant joining the family at the big dinner table, being asked for our opinion and having a say in certain matters. You physically blossom overnight. You realize that you're considered as an adult. When you feet get longer, you realize looking down from the top is not as fun as you thought when you used to look up to see the top.As an adult, you're held responsible for a lot of things.Your thinking is criticized. Spring Blooming
So much is blooming it is hard to keep up making notes on it all. The cherry trees, pear, and peach are all in bloom-probably the apples, too, but I didn't walk out that far to check. The crabapples are breaking into bud, the 'Snowdrift' variety has been blooming for most of this week already. Lilacs are coming into bloom, and Amelanchier canadensis is exhibiting some of the best bloom since I planted them... the larger one, A. laevis, is developing fruit - I missed seeing the flowers ( I only have one of those trees). Redbuds are in full bloom, now, too. Viburnum burkwoodi is blooming and adding its scent to the air. Everywhere the show of the ornamental trees is just spectacular. It is going past a little too quickly in the warmth and dryness, though, so I hope we get decent rainfall soo

There's more blooming than just flower beds
From Canada.com :This has been coming for a while. Young, fresh designers like Cath Kidston have been showing modern stylized blooms on fabrics and pottery for years, and pop florals by Marimekko are very much back in style. But this spring the floral craze has really taken hold. The rose motif is everywhere, both in restrained two-colour patterns and riotous multicoloured prints. [ ... ] Floral draperies: I never thought I would go there - again. But I am. New bedroom drapes in a non-sweet, two-tone floral pattern would be a great change from the solid linen drapes that even I am tiring of. Fresh flowers: Emma Goldman said it best: "I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck."

      It's almost blooming time!
When my Mum moved in to our house back in 2000, there was absolutely no landscaping.Over the years Mum has attempted her version of backyard landscaping and I think she's made some really good choices! There is almost always something blooming in our yard throughout the growing months.Mum favorite plant is just about to bloom - Forsythia. We have two of them on the south side of the corners of the house. They are just amazing shrubs with amazing yellow color. The first shrub to bloom for the year.Mum's favorite thing is go out and cut them just before the buds pop open, and put them in a humongous vase to display in our office. Then she has about two weeks to enjoy them. It's about time to go out there and trim them. Maybe this weekend. We'll be sure and get a nice pic to show you!

      Winter Blooming Shrubs And Perennials
While homeowners all across the country drop thousands of dollars on landscaping each year, few take into account just what their yard will look like in the cold winter months. Plants tend to die back and trees go dormant, creating a dismal landscape that one must contend with all winter long. This can be avoided however, if during your initial landscaping plans you choose to include and put emphasis on shrubs and perennials that will provide visual interest in the wintertime. One of the most effective ways to go about this is to plant shrubs and perennials that bloom during the winter months. Unlike standard evergreens that few people pay attention to, these unique winter blooming specimens will delight your visitors and bring color and warmth to an otherwise cold and barren landscape.Quit

      Preparing My Amaryllis For Blooming
I'm in the process of bringing in a lot of my houseplants and succulents for the winter. If you read this blog last winter you may remember my experiments with pollinating my Amaryllis and the subsequent Amaryllis seed pods and know that I have one or two of these flowering indoor bulbs around. At the beginning of October I moved my potted Amaryllids onto the porch so they wouldn't get sun or water and make them lose their leaves. It is generally advised that if you already own an Amaryllis and you want to get it to bloom for Thanksgiving or Christmas that you cut back on the watering and light 10-12 weeks before the time you want it to bloom. What we're doing is artificially producing a dormancy period that will result in flowers when we want them instead of when the bulb is ready to send another flower stalk out.For recently purchased Amaryllis bulbs you're suppose to plant them, give them a good watering and place them in a warm and sunny area to bring them out of the dormancy th

      Pregnancy Loss Gardens Blooming White
The color white feels so right when designing a garden for a baby angel. Whether your baby passed early in pregnancy or as an infant, a garden of beauty can be created to honor little angels gone too soon. When I see white flowers I think pure, sweet, angelic, innocent and uncomplicated. The color white is prevalent in life changing events and bridges the past to the future. People who have endured near death experiences claim to be surrounded by warm, white lights. We wear white to weddings, to christen our babies and white shirts are worn to funerals by many. White has a true respect and dignity by various cultures. White flowers not only have meaningful properties, they are the only color that is highly visible at dusk and in the moonlight. The moonlit or white garden has a classic beauty that transcends time. If your baby passed before their gender was determined, white would be suitable for both. Maybe the early evening hours are significant and reminiscent of your angel. It could

      Bloomer is… Blooming
As you may be aware we recently started the beta of our new social network for the Danish market called "Bloomer". Bloomer is one of our pet projects that is starting to gather a head of steam. It’s built on Ning which has been a godsend for us as I’m the only real coder working on the site and has enabled us to rapidly get Bloomer "out there". However, building Bloomer on a system such as Ning presents a large number of technical difficulties such as language integration, despite the fact that a lot of the necessary back end is  already in place. Bloomer is a Danish site. As such it needs to be in Danish. The problem is that while Nings translation tool makes the burden of translation a little easier, there are still many barriers to a true Danish translation. Localization is one of those problems. An example would be the way Ning is built to automatically pluralize English words and that generally requires little more than adding an "s&qu

He told me that he'd been feeling disconnected from me and wanted me to hang out with him more "after hours." He told me all this while I was sitting at the computer.I looked at him, looked at my computer, looked at him, back at the computer...I turned it off.Later, I put my arms around his neck and said,"I'm sorry you've been feeling disconnected from me. I'll try to spend less time on the computer at night. You're the most important person in the world to me..."Just then, a certain smell wafted up to my attention, so I added,"In fact, I love you so much that I made you a little fart."

When I first took the photograph of Chloe with the daisy, I've actually never thought of doing a layout to explain her name. The idea came to me when I've tried to get some inspirations by looking at the photograph for sometime. She is so adorable with that daisy on and the thought of she is as beautiful as the daisy, suddenly triggered me the idea that her name actually means blooming! That's how the inspiration for the title came to me and with that title, I've thought of doing a page with more flowers and some blings to resembles how precious is she to me. The pearl in the middle of the daisy explains it all.of daisies on the right hand upper corner of the layout and I've also add some blings to it too!The process of creating this layout had been fun and I hope you all would give some of the techniques here a go!

I took advantage as best I could of photographing as many of the best blooms available. You can get an idea of the variety in my garden by looking at my Flickr sets, Roses and Flowers. This is definitely my favorite time of year now. All the vibrant colors in flowers and roses, along with the bright sun and warm air gives the world around me a sense of abundance. There are also some
