It is more the portion of the "acceptance" that is concer

Why the blogosphere is a threat to US not UK media outlets: The Future of News
Interesting post from Steve Boriss on The Future of News, on the different effects the blogosphere will have on British and American media outlets. The Internet has caught American journalism flat-footed. Suddenly, there is a huge demand for opinion, and a newly resentful public realizing they have been deprived of it, if not lied to — that there is no such thing as an objective, right-down-the-m

Future of American Atheism: The Atheist Blogosphere
What does the future hold for atheism in the United States? Will momentum build until even our harshest critics will acknowledge the reality of the atheist movement, or might our growing influence wane and further delay the goal of atheist equality? I'm no fortune teller, but I'll gladly speculate on what we might see over the next few years. This post focuses on the future of American atheism wit

BBC Radio Four needs to engage the blogosphere
As a fan of the current affairs and comedy output of Radio Four (along with the rest of my family) I've been thinking about the station's interactivity.BBC Listen Again, like the iplayer, is excellent. Unlike 4OnDemand, it requires no downloads and therefore can be used from any machine. I can use the iplayer while writing a blog post in the university library. I can't do that with 4OnDemand.Howev

However, how does the list of clients people are using match up the list of the ones people are talking about? Using data from blog search engine Twingly, we decided to see which Twitter clients are getting the most buzz on blogs. T

Yes, it's true that anyone with access to a computer and some Internet savvy can have a blog up and running in no time. But not all blogs are welcome, especially in the fashion and beauty blogosphere. The Longtail Rules the Blogosphere. "A-Listers" Don't Deliver More Value.
In January of this year I made a bet with members of our team. The bet was that dollar for dollar the long tail and sponsored posts were a better advertising investment than display ads on an "A-List" blog. I knew what the performance was through our network and had seen what the "A-Listers" were charging for display ads. I decided to plunk down some money and see if I was right. I first tried to buy advertising on TechCrunch to prove my point, but when Mike Arrington declined I went looking for a comparable property. I thought about Mashable and even Calacanis.com, but we ultimately purchased a one month campaign on the ultra popular tech website ReadWriteWeb.com, of which I a personally a fan and consider to be "A-List" material . We decided to promote the t

However, this week was full of incredible articles for small business owners from some of the best in the blogosphere. So just in case you've missed anything, I've comprised a list of some must reads to get you through the weekend.1) Top 10 Strategies for becoming Uncommonly Successful-My favorite this week was an article written by Stacey Mayo over at Business Know How. Nicely written article that uses exerts from her new book. Re-iterates many things that we(entrepreneurs) lose sight of during hustle and bustle (some of which are mentioned in my post Why are You and Entrepreneur?).2) New IRS Campaign targets h

Midday Open Thread: Raul Castro Commutes Death Sentences, Cubans Join the Blogosphere
Raul Castro announced today that he is commuting all death sentences in Cuba (with the exception of 3 individuals charged with terrorism) to lesser sentences, citing humanitarian reasons. Cuba has faced pressure from human-rights activists to abolish its death penalty, which is still administered via firing squad. The commutations are the latest in a wave of populist reforms introduced by Raul Castro since his older brother Fidel Castro retired and handed him power. Over the weekend he announced he's raising pensions for retirees as well as salaries for some government employees, while earlier this month he lifted long-time bans on Cubans owning cell phones and staying in hotels reserved for foreigners. From the Miami Herald: The pay increases — which will affect almost one in five C

The Roundup; MacPhail; News; Around the O's Blogosphere
If you all get a moment, check out the MASN Sports website and listen to the "Orioles Insider Roundtable". I heard it while on my break here in the office and both Steve Melewski and Dave Johnson interviewed Andy MacPhail.I like Andy's perspective on the team so far, and it seems that he's pleasantly surprised at the team's start, the job that Dave Trembley is doing, and how the talent he acquired are developing. While the Orioles are over .500, I'm going to be cautiously optimistic to see how things go -- especially during their road trip and see how the Orioles do.It is needless to say that the Orioles are doing very well. Then again, we are only about an 1/8 through the season. If Baltimore gets into a hole and starts slumping, expect the trade talks to start up once again with the usual

An Open Letter to The Blogosphere
I am very sorry that I have to write this because most of you are not in violation. In this instance it is a few rotten apples spooling the whole bunch. To Who It May Concern: I have one request and one request only. If you have a view that opposes my own by all means please comment on this blog. However I ask that you be civil and reasonable. I don't troll the sites of bloggers with political views other than my own so I can pile on and try to persuade them to be on my side or support my candidate. That's what my posts are for on my own blog. The same should be true on your end. By all means you can make a valid argument and get your comments posted. However trolling will not be tolerated. I've had about enough! Thank you!

O's Beat Sox Thanks To Jones' Walkoff Hit, 6-5; The Evil Empire is in Town: The Roundup and Blogosphere...
As we are in the third week of the season, I know one thing -- this team is a lot better than that was last year and I'm upping my win total to 70 for the 2008 Baltimore Orioles. The law of averages may perhaps take over, but so far, it's been good.On Thursday night, the Orioles had their backs to a wall -- however, they fought back against Bobby Jenks (my god is he huge -- he needs to go a Nutri-System diet or something) as the Orioles scored two in the ninth and Adam Jones had a game-winning hit in the 10th inning to give Baltimore the win, 6-5.The bullpen, which has been a tad shaky this week, pitched four scoreless innings and got the win. Jeremy Guthrie was solid -- until the top of seventh inning where he gave back to back home runs to get the hook. He allowed four runs, three earned

      American Airlines Joins the Blogosphere
American Airlines follows Delta and opens their own blog in order to provide news to their passengers. The blog is titled "AA Conversations", and not surprisingly the first post had to apologize for the 3,000 flights they had to cancel during April due to maintenance of their MD-80 fleet. Another web site that shows internal news and stories from American Airlines is "Tell Your AA Story", which was created by "a group of concerned American Airlines employees".
