Google’s Blog Search is a blog search engine that indexes your blog posts by crawling XML feeds instead of the actual blog html page. The Blog Search includes all blogs which publishes a site feed: If your blog is not included in the Blog Search, you might want to ping them. I’ve gotten some traffic from Google’s blog search but I haven’t thought too much about it until I saw a link on Conversion Rater which sent me to an article about search result rankings. Apparently a new patent application from Google reveals the positive and negative factors which determine how Google Blog Search ranks search results. Bill Slawski at SEO By the Sea goes into greater detail on each factor in his excellent post. Google's blog search shows results in responses to searchers queries based

Blogging is one of the easiest ways to get content published to the Internet. Everyone, from the average Joe to the Corporate Communications Specialist wants to see their blog and their most recent posts on the Google results page. But, just like SEO for any other web site, it takes time, effort, and patience. Here is a collection of tips gathered from around the blogosphere on how to optimize your blog for search engines. Content Content is always king. Make sure your content is new, fresh, engaging, and relevant. Update your blog frequently. The more it is updated, the more your content will be indexed. Stick with your blog - don't get discouraged! Use an interesting title for your blog and each of your blog posts. Limit each of your posts to one topic, keeping your pages focused. Keep your posts not too short, and not too long. This keeps your readers interested and returning. Provide a list of your top 10 blog posts on your site. Make
Getting your blog indexed by Search Engines is relatively easy - you write, get linked to and the Search Engines follow the links and find you. Et voila! However, for most bloggers, ranking highly is more important and doing so on Google in particular - for some it’s for bragging rights ("egosurfing' and the like) but, for business bloggers, it is for commercial reasons. Let's be honest, getting found means more potential readers and so more potential customers.
However, although we tend to use Google in the singular, there are many different Google search results for the same phrase, the primary factor being where you are searching from.
We know that Google operates Google.com as the global search engine and then a large number of individual country search engines, the UK one, for example, sitting at www.google.co.uk. The results at Google.com and Google.co.uk vary quite markedly with more relevance given to sites which are country specific in the google.co.uk results.
I’m just about to release my very first Wordpress plugin, here on Daily Moolah. One of the biggest gripes about Wordpress 2.3 has been the fact that the Technorati Incoming Links on the Admin Dashboard has been replaced with Incoming Links from Google Blog Search. While I’m sure this was all done with good intentions, Google Blog Search is terrible at showing the number of new incoming links accurately, and I sorely missed seeing who linked to me via the Technorati Incoming Links module in the Wordpress Dashboard.
Replacing Google Blog Search with Technorati
Google Blog Search is currently flawed, and shows all your own posts as incoming links. This is a waste of your productivity, and also means that you must manually check Technorati to see the number of new blog reactions and incoming links your blog is receiving.
Others have shared my frustration, and some have even contemplated going back to Wordpress 2.2 to get Technorati Incoming Links back! Fear not, that is utterl

Google China has launched a new blog search portal for mainland China, just a few weeks after doing so for Hong Kong and Taiwan. The blogging search engine is still in beta mode, but already gives results from both international and Chinese major blogging platforms. Even blogs hosted by Google top competitor Baidu can be found.
Time will tell if the new site will have any positive impact on Google presence in China and on the Chinese blogosphere. Google Blog Search China can be accessed through this link .

The blogsearch.google.cn domain was online for quite some time, but it didn’t display any service so far. It’s now changed to a homepage to “blog search engine” for Google China.
As other Google offerings in China, this one is self-censored (on some searches, like a search for “censorship”, the bottom of the page in italics disclaims that some search results are not shown in compliance with local laws, regulations and policies). Also, upon entering certain queries like human rights or tiananmen, the result doesn’t properly display at all, but shows a place-holder message instead. However, it seems like something is still being rolled out here, and I’m not sure if this place-holder page is only triggered by “sensitive” queries.
But blog information is especially hard to control. While partially self-censored, Google’s blog search engine still displays relevant sensitive information; for insta

Introduction Once you’ve set up your blog and made sure it’s listed in Blog Search, you are probably interested in learning all about Blog Search and all the different things you can do with this neat combined function of Blogger and Google. One cool feature of Blog Search is that you can actually subscribe to Blog Search’s search results. What does this mean? Well, let’s say you have a particular topic or subject about which you are very passionate, and you’re always interested in what other blogs and bloggers have to say about it. This is essentially the primary function of Blog Search—to allow bloggers to search for other blogs and blog posts. Once you perform the search, a bunch of search results will come up. You may decide to tweak your keyword search or advanced options to get the search results you want. Once you do, instead of performing this exact same search every single time you want to be updated and informed of new content, you have the option of subs

Google Search Engine traffic is a key component to every single blogger and being able to gauge its success is just as important. There are several paid softwares out there in the market that does the trick but why pay for it when you can get it for Free?Free Monitor for Google from CleverStat.com can assist in this area although it provide stats for only Google but I find it is good enough for me since the bulk of my search engine traffic is from Google. They do offer a much more powerful tool called Accurate Monitor for Search Engines which covers the other search engines and also check on your paid listing as well but this one comes with a 30day free trial and eventually USD 99 to download.Free Monitor for Google software itself is very simple to use and the user interface is extremely basic but does the job well. Upon launching the program, you can then set projects for each of your blog and then enter the keywords you want to track for each blog. The results will show the current

The purpose of a blog search engine is to index blogs and to show some information easy to find in a feed, like the date of a post, the author or the tags associated with a post. Unlike web search engines, blog search engines have less sites to crawl and the feeds save them a lot of time, so they pick new posts much faster.
