Interesting post over at Steve Pavlina’s which takes up the question that How Much Is a Blog Post Worth? In the post Steve decides that posts on his blog are worth $2400 calculated over a 10 year life span. He calculates this by taking the total earnings of his site and dividing it by the post numbers and then multiplying it by the lifespan of the post. I know, I'm really supposed to be working on the complaining, but yesterday was a tough day here. I spent all morning in the doctor's office. I have a lump in my throat that seems to get better with a steroid shot, only to come right back within a day. When you write a blog post, there are a number of things that can be done to make it stand out and catch the attention of your readers. A well-written blog post is the first thing on that list almost every time. However, there are a dozen or more other things that can take very little time and multiply not only your exposure but the quality of readership on your blog.
The number one thing on that list is the addition of graphics and photos to each and every post you write. It may seem like a small addition, but without a visual addition, many blogs look stale and overly wordy. The last thing you want is for your visitors to think your blog looks wordy.

This weekend marks the return of Captain Rockhopper after being gone for a while. He’s been spotted hanging around on his ship, at the beach, in the plaza, and a few other places. I hope everyone gets the chance to meet him because it’s a lot of fun!
In other news: Construction is going well in the Plaza and I think it’s going to be really cool when it’s done. Also, don’t forget to keep voting for your favorite party, it’s going to be a blast!!

Ok so I thought for my “save the environment” post I’d give out some easy tips on what you can do at home and at work to play you’re part in conserving energy and the environment as a whole.
With all the load shedding we’re experiencing here in South Africa the need to conserve electrical energy has become apparent (to say the very least). I think that just being aware of the problem can go a long way to affect change. You really don’t need every light in the house blazing at once or your TV, radio and computer on at the same time do you? They also say turning your geyser off in the morning and back on at night can save loads of energy – you’d probably save quite a bit of cash too (just don’t forget to turn it back on otherwise you may get a bit of a shocking wakeup call).

I didn't have any time today for blogging, but I've read the Romania in one post - The thoughts of an IT professional and it really troubled me and made me unhappy. I couldn't find who is the guy writing this blog, no about page - it's like he is hiding from Google but reading in between posts I found out he left Romania 15 years ago.
I've read somewhere that Romanians are the nation that hurts itself most from all the other nations in the world by the bad publicity made by it's own people. It seems this is the case here as well.

The latest storm to brew out of the Ministry of Education’s tea cup is about one Otto Fong, a teacher in one of Singapore’s top schools, Raffles Institution, who has written a ‘coming out of the closet’ blog post.
I didn’t have time to properly read it this morning, but it was a long, personal, heartfelt post about being gay and his indignation about the treatment given to gays by the government and them seemingly going back on their words about being more open to gays.
It seems that he’s been called up by the principal of the school (according to The Online Citizen’s sources), and what do you know …. the blog post has been taken down. Not sure whether it was done voluntarily or was Otto Fong pressured into removing it.

I am confused.
This won’t come as a shock to some of you who know me and have watched the increased addling of my brain through sleep deprevation caused by fatherhood. Just at the moment, though, I feel wide awake and a little bit peeved (yet still confused) by Jakob Nielsen’s latest offering “Write Articles, Not Blog Postings“.
As you might imagine, I was intrigued by the title, so I started to read. The summary of Nielsen’s article states:
“To demonstrate world-class expertise, avoid quickly written, shallow postings. Instead, invest your time in thorough value added content that attracts paying customers.”

IN THE NEWS: According to World Magazine, In Mich., people watched in horror as a 21 year-old wheelchair-bound man was softly struck by a slow-moving 18-wheeler.
