      Birth Story Blog Carnival
Birth Stories from Mina:Birth #1After walking around at 4cm dilated for 3 weeks and being told Icould have the baby "at any time", I finally went into labor 7 daysafter my due date at 2am. I had contractions 10 minutes apart formost of the morning, but they never increased much. At 10am I wasscheduled for a non-stress test because the baby was overdue (I'dalready had one a few days before), so we headed on into the hospitalfiguring they'd end up keeping me, which they did. They were verybusy that day, so my husband and I ended up walking around trying tospeed up my contractions while they got a room ready. After an hour or so we were taken into my room. I really wanted togo natural, and my nurses were supportive of this. We brought in mybirth ball so I could sit on that while I progressed. I labored fora while and was checked periodically, but I seemed to be stuck at 5cmdilated. I was having good hard contractions, and my OB convinced methat if they broke my water that I'd dil

Birth Story Blog Carnival Part Two
Here is a priceless birth story, redneck style. After much internal debate, Prin, I decided to link to your site in my health care blogroll. Thanks for the story.I've always prided my self on being one classy bitch. After all I got all my partying out of the way before I decided to have a baby didn't I? My birthing story is one straight from the red-neck hills of heaven. I was 34 when I had my child, soon to be 35 and never, not once in any of the birthing stories that I ever heard did anyone tell me that it feels like you have to take a big whomping shit right before you go into labor! Earlier that day while keeping a friend's 5 year old, we had made a big 'ole bran, raisin, walnut cake thingy and ate plenty of it. I tell you this so you will understand my confusion at 11:55 that night when I had the first pain. I laid there trying to go back to sleep, thinking it was the bran but watching the clock just to be sure. The next pain came at 12:00 but still I thought I had to shit s

Birth Story Blog Carnival Part One
I've received several beautiful birth stories. Thank you all for sharing. If you send me a birth story in good faith, I promise that I will eventually post it here. I've decided to simply post them one at a time and in the order in which I received them. I've also decided to do very minimal editing - for a couple of reasons. First, I'm lazy. Second, I don't want to be yet one more modifying (controlling) influence on the birth experiences of these women. Also -- I'm not an editor and I don't want to risk changing the tone or voice of these stories. This first installment, which is actually two birth stories in one, comes from Jessie at I Am David's Doll. My first son was born in August of 03, after exactly three months of pregnancy. I am one of those people who don't have what you would call "pregnancy symptoms," such as missed period (I bled the whole time) or nausea. Nope, I just kept on wearing totally inappropriate clothes and going on roller coasters. I am al

What is a blog carnival? How do I join in?
A "blog carnival" is a collaboration of posts by different bloggers on a particular subject or theme. It's like a magazine in structure: usually presented as a post on the carnival host's blog with links to each submission and often editorial comments.Blog carnivals are usually posted regularly: weekly, monthly or even daily! They are a great way to find useful information on a particular subject of interest, and can also be a good way to encourage others to read your blog, by either submitting an article for inclusion, or hosting a carnival of your own.So how do I join in?You can either find a blog carnival you'd like to contribute to, or start your own. BlogCarnival.com is probably the best place to start: hundreds of carnivals are listed here, along with links to the hosts to whom you should submit your articles. Carnivals are arranged by subject, and you can even search for your particular area of interest. If you've discovered a blog carnival on someones blog, chances are you

However, submission does not guarantee inclusion in the carnival. That determination will be based upon how closely the submission corresponds to the (broad) guidelines.
Kli

Check Out The First Humanist Symposium Blog Carnival
I've been waiting for this one since hearing about it earlier this month. With the rapid growth the atheist blogosphere is experiencing, it will be nice to have another blog carnival to complement Carnival of the Godless. This one focuses on posts that offer "a positive alternative to belief systems based on the supernatural." I think the Humanist Symposium is really going to take off. But don't take my word for it. The first edition is now up at Daylight Atheism.Check out the Humanist Symposium.Tags: atheism, secular humanism, blogging, blog carnival, Humanist Symposium

Soul of Rock ‘n’ Roll Hosting Blog Carnival: Carnival of Rock ‘n’ Roll
Hey everyone here at the Soul of Rock ‘n’ Roll. I thought I would take today to make a little announcement that some of you other music fanatics might be interested in. The Soul of Rock ‘n’ Roll is going to be hosting a monthly blog carnival thought our friends at Blog Carnival. The carnival will run the first of every month if we have any contributions from the previous month and will focus on music and rock and roll related articles. It’s a pretty open topic so this is a good time to start writing about your favorite band, genre or even rock ‘n’ roll’s impact on society. I might also include guitar related articles as I love guitars, but I’m not looking for lessons or gear reviews. I personally review everything submitted so I can’t guarantee that everything will make it in, but if I can tell your passionate about your music, you make some good points and you don’t blatantly attack anyone else, you’ll probab

      Opened a blog carnival edition
I looked at the website of Blog Carnival, where there's plenty of carnivals of all sorts for many different subject being hosted, and seeing that there didn't seem to be any for comics, I thought of opening one up specially for comics, which can be partied whenever possible.(It reminds me that it's also possible for me, with these options, to submit some of my own writings to various other blog carnivals as well, besides occasionally submitting to trackback parties, to help inform the public as best as possible about what goes on in the world of comics, and so, I'll be trying with some of the other ones too whenever I can.)So, we'll see how well this goes. With any luck, it'll be great. I installed the link to the carnival I opened on the top of my side menu as well.
