Have I mentioned I love DJ Lobsterdust? Two more killers from him. Peep them both. What crowd doesn’t love “I Got 5 On It”? Second helping is a little older, but a classic. The dope MSTRKRFT remix goes with Gimme Head like bread and butter…don’t sleep.

Alexandra PalaceFriday 14th DecemberIf a band is trying to gage how far they have progressed, playing Alexandra Palace is the acid test. "Let's pretend for a moment that this is a sweaty little club instead of a huge exhibition centre," pleads Kele Okereke. When you are facing a hall more suited for a political conference than a gig, this isn't an easy task. Bloc Party manage it with a jerky medley of understated style and in-your-face bravado. The Cribs find the transition less comfortable. Chaotic kings of sticky-floored settings nationwide, in front of a larger audience they sound flat. "Our Bovine Public' is a disastrous opener marred by the venue's notoriously troublesome acoustics and poor timing. Things improve with "Hey Scenesters', the Jarman brothers mastering the mix between enthusiastic thrashing and maintaining rhythm.Three albums in, the band have an array of songs to choose from, but pluck mostly from latest record Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whateve

Bloc Party's new single Flux', is a strong powered electro ballad that simmers nicely on the right side of the jaunty pop that is now expected of them. It's where the most ardent of fans probably will filter away and shout out about the band selling out, changing as the industry changes, it's much more accessible than the previous long player. It may just be a standalone release, but let's hope it's a glimpse into what is to come. With a physical release and a covermount on the NME, the single is destined for good things.
Flux' is undoubtedly still Bloc Party, despite being what is almost a euphoric dance tune, but showcases the bands fondness of electronic music, a strong chorus and memorable hook. The one big surprise about this release and one that will make diehard fans question the band is the distinct lack of guitars. It is set for trendy indie discotheques all along the land, with its searing synth lines. Best of all its music you can dance to without jumped up
Disfrutenlo.

From the post-post-punk of their early EPs to Silent Alarm's sprawl of sounds and ideas, Bloc Party has never shied away from reinventing their music. They continue to evolve on A Weekend in the City, an unashamedly ambitious, emotional album that builds on where they've been before but still feels like a departure. Silent Alarm's eclecticism was one

As the sticker on the album's cover states, Silent Alarm Remixed is "a track-by-track reinvention of Bloc Party's stunning debut album by some of their favorite artists." While it might seem a little soon for this kind of reinvention, some of these remixes date back to the band's earliest EPs, such as the reworking of "Banquet" by Phones (aka Bloc

Much more polished, serious, and straight-ahead than their initial EPs suggested, Bloc Party's debut album, Silent Alarm, reveals them as a band equally informed by taut art-punk and the grand gestures and earnestness of groups like Coldplay and U2. Though they're not quite as stadium-sized expansive as either of those two bands (yet), Bloc Party
Although it was released a few months ago, I've only just noticed the video for Bloc Party's "The Prayer" on YouTube during the week. Intriguing, disturbing, and just brilliant - all at the same time. And the tune is rather good too. I have to admit that the video made me relisten to the tune , and i've had it playing on my car stereo non stop for the past few days. I'd keep an eye out for Bloc

This is the second and last part of b-side goodness by the fabulous Bloc Party. This batch consists of b-sides and bonus tracks that the band released with their A Weekend In The City release, check out Vision Of Heaven because it’s amazing. And if you know what’s good for you, you’ll get them all. By the way, if you know of a song that isn’t listed either here or on part one, it would be great if you’ll leave a comment and let me know.

This is the excellent new single and video from Bloc Party called ‘The Prayer’…
They are one of, if not the best British bands of this century, and this song, the first off their new album, carries on where they left off with ‘Silent Alarm’, The album of 2005. This single came out in the UK yesterday and I’m praying (geddit) it does well in the charts so the band get the recognition they so throughly deserve. This new album, and first single with it seems very natural, with the same style but an increase in skill and maturity coupled with it. I’ll be doing a full review of the album ‘A Weekend In The City’ after a good few listens. But for now as I can’t resist, here’s my favourite single and video by the band…

Bloc Party released their second studio album, "A Weekend in the City" which was produced by Jacknife Lee. The album cover is A Modern Project by Rut Blees Luxemburg. This album deals much more with normal day working life than was addressed on Silent Alarm, drawing themes from the 7 July 2005 London bombings, immigration, drug abuse, Black British lifestyle, homosexuality, and criticism of youth subculture. The first, low-quality leaked version has been mostly met with mixed reviews by web-critics and fans alike, with the success of Silent Alarm setting high expectations for the next album. The first UK single, "The Prayer", was released on January 29, 2007. The first single in the US is "I Still Remember"."Song for Clay (Disappear Here)" was originally titled "Merge on the Freeway" (and is inspired by the novel Less Than Zero by Bret Easton Ellis), "The Prayer" was originally "A Prayer to the Lord", "On" was originally "Wet," "Where Is Home?" was originally "Death of a Century", "Machi
