I don't think it is possible to talk about the black condition (ing) in America better than my boy Raw Dog Buffalo put it in his article over on his blog but reading it made me want to vent and work through a theory i have been thinking on for about 5 years. In a nutshell: What if our peculiar behavior as modern blacks in America is a symptom of a deeper and bigger underlying problem? What if we ne
I hate niggers, I love black people but i hate me some niggers. I wish they would let me join the Klu Klux Klan. Chris Rock HBO live. Now me myself personally wouldn't go so far as to want to join the Kluless Klux Klan but i understand personally what Chris meant by that joke. It was funny because it was true to a point. It does seem like under-educated, poor African Americans sometimes hate a good

The full video of Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s now-infamous “God Damn America” sermon has been posted by Fox News here, in three parts: Sermon Video Presents Obama’s Former Pastor in His Own Words.Watch the whole thing—because despite the outcry from mainstream media and Obama supporters (there’s a difference?) that Wright’s vile comments were taken [...]
Bill Cosby complains about it. He wrote a book chastising black Americans for not living up to the potential given to them. The book is called "Come on People!" Unfortunately, he didn't notice that there should be a comma there. The book went to print as "Come on People!" instead of the (clearer) "Come on, People!"I've talked about how blacks are more likely to get abortions because they are more often in the financial/relationship situations that make women want to get abortions. The question I've never gotten around to is why this status is the case.If I could answer it simply, I'd have a wonderful solution all packaged for you. Unfortunately the explanation I find most convincing is so nuanced that I have not idea how to change the situation. The man who explains the problems of
As I mentioned at the beginning of the week Earl Ofari Hutchinson will be around to promote his newly published book The Latino Challenge to Black America: Towards a Conversation Between African-Americans and Hispanics. Mr. Hutchinson will be around for a short time to answer any further questions or followups.
I would like to point out even though the book focuses on Latinos as a whole, some of you will notice, there are certain question I only reference Mexican Americans, instead of Latinas/os. As some of you know there has been a long running racial tension between African Americans and Latinos/as, mainly with Mexican Americans. These tensions date back around the time of Texas independence and when the US annexed a third of Mexico’s territory following the Mexican War. However, it was during the time, 1920s, when Mexican Americans were trying to attain a certain level of “Whiteness” when tensions between Mexican Americans and African Americans really started. As
As of you know journalist, author and broadcaster Earl Ofari Hutchinson is on a virtual book tour. I was thrilled to be asked to be a part of his tour. He is promoting his new book, The Latino Challenge to Black America: Towards a Conversation Between African-Americans and Hispanics.
Mr. Hutchinson has reached out to a number of Latino blogs to spark up conversation. I was asked to write up some questions while I was reading his book and the send those questions to him, which he would then answer. His stop will be on October 11 this coming Thursday. Mr. Hutchinson will be around for a short time to comment and answer comments. When I was developing my questions, I was hoping I would has some hard questions concerning the Black-Brown divide. My goal was to break down some myths I am hoping that I did. I know that some of you, my readers, probably participated in a previous stop, however, I hope you will continue the conversation on my blog. This is an important discuss that will not
