During our year in Colorado, one of the places we made sure to visit was Bishop Castle near Beulah. Jim Bishop has been building the castle by himself for nearly 40 years and people visit not just to see his castle, but to see the man himself. He is well known for his anti-government stance and his conspiracy theories. Nah, that’s just the rumor mill at work. The Gilmore Girls‘ Kelly Bishop will not be making the leap to Gossip Girl.
The reason for the speculation had a lot to do with the description of Serena’s grandmother. More info after the jump (a little bit spoiler-ish so don’t read on if you don’t want to know).
The audition notes for the role read:
Celia Rhodes: 58-68. Serena’s grandmother & Lily’s mother. A larger than life character, wealthy, manipulative woman who clings to the traditions - Debutante Balls, etc… of her rarefied class.
The character of Celia makes her debut in Episode 9, tying in with the Debutante Ball.
The identity of the actress is yet to be announced. Is it just me or wouldn’t Lauren Bacall be awesome? I know that she’s older than 68 but:
1, she doesn’t look it; and
2, she’s a household name (Josh Schwartz, can you say “ratings bonanza” for an older demographic).

Matt Bishop, the editor in chief of F1 Racing magazine, and the editorial director of Haymarket Motorsport Ltd has resigned his position and will be leaving the company in December. Bishop Thomas W. Weeks III was blaming the devil for accusations that he viciously beat his wife, evangelist and gospel singer Juanita Bynum, in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Bishop Weeks drew cheers and applause as he was introduced during service Sunday at Global Destiny Ministries, the Atlanta church he founded. Addressing the congregation just two days after turning himself in to authorities on the charges, Weeks said the devil was behind his current situation. He also expressed appreciation for the prayers and support he and his wife have received.

Now comes the news that the televangelist, known for her fiery and frank sermons about women's empowerment have won her a national following, got the crap beat out of her by her husband who's also a minister!
Atlanta police say Bynum, became the victim of domestic abuse after her husband, Bishop Thomas Weeks, savagely beat her in a hotel parking lot Tuesday night-Wednesday morning.

It has also come to light that Rev. Bynum and Bishop Weeks are in the middle of a separation. Apparently the two agreed to meet in the dining room of the Renaissance Hotel near Hartsfield-Jackson airport to try and work out their differences.
The meeting reportedly did not go well and ended with Bishop Weeks leaving abruptly. Reverend Bynum followed him to the parking lot where the two exchanged words, says a Bynum relative.
Then, according to an Atlanta Police Department report, Weeks allegedly attacked her. In a statement to police, Bynum said
This relates to an earlier story about the dispute between Amnesty International and the Catholic Church. The Vatican urged Catholics to stop donating to Amnesty on the basis that Amnesty does not see the criminalization of women who choose to abort their pregnancy as a productive policy.
Ms Gilmore, Amnesty’s Deputy Secretary General in an earlier interview stated:
“We are saying broadly that to criminalise women’s management of their sexual reproductive right is the wrong answer.”

Bishop Cornelius Schilder of Ngo'ng who is recovering in Holland after being hospitalised says God turned him away when he knocked at Heaven's gates.
God appears to have concluded that the bishop still has a lot of work to do in Ngo'ng, a vast diocese in south Kenya covering the homeland of the Maasai. "I knocked at the door of heaven, but the Good Lord did not open the door, so I came back!" Bishop Schilder wrote to his flock.
"It seems that He wants me to still do more work in the Diocese of Ngong (and I think He also does not want me to leave my cows as orphans!)."
Bishop Schilder, 65, was admitted at Amsterdam University Hospital on July 13 after he collapsed at Schipol International Airport. He had been waiting to board a plane to the US.

One diocesan bishop has even claimed that laws that have undermined marriage, including the introduction of pro-gay legislation, have provoked God to act by sending the storms that have left thousands of people homeless.
While those who have been affected by the storms are innocent victims, the bishops argue controversially that the flooding is a result of Western civilisation’s decision to ignore biblical teaching.
