My tiny little one inch orchid seedlings that I purchased 3 years ago from Ebay are finally blooming for the first time. Another thing I can scratch off my list of things I want to try doing. I must admit there are still quite a few things on that list that I may never get around to doing like I'd really love for Bob and I to go Hot Air Ballooning. They have these beautiful sunrise balloon trips you can take here in Florida but there are two things that hold me back....one of course is that it seems like a frivolous waste of money and two with my crew I can count on an emergency phone call while I'm up there ballooning around to tell me that either one of my teens have been arrested or somebody broke a limb. Another day, another eccentric band from Brooklyn, New York City. Named after a dance move, the Harlem Shakes create garage dance that has one sole purpose: to get the listener to boogie. And while ‘Burning Birthdays’ may only be an EP, its packed with infectious, toe tapping music, starting with “Carpetbaggers”, a song so fun even Williamsburg’s hippest hipsters will shuffle their feet. “Red Right Hands” and “Felt Wings” are more catchy than dance-y, with choruses that keep listeners singing long after the tracks are over. Over at Crazy Hip Blog Mama's, we were challenged to write about our best birthday's (for a chance to win a free projector rental). For me it was an easy choice. It was my birthday yesterday and I had SUCH a lovely day! The weather was nice - the sun has FINALLY come out and Cole and I took a picnic to the park and sat in the sun for a few glorious hours. Had a bit of drama at one point when I couldn't see him - but then discovered him with a gang of other kids in the bushes behind the play area building dens. As parents I think we always have a wish list of things we would like to give our kids - sometimes because it's carrying on traditions of our own childhood and sometimes to compensate for things we felt we didn't have. I was a shy kid, finding social situations difficult and awkward. I've never wanted Cole to suffer in a similar way so am so pleased that he's so sociable and makes friends easily wherever he goes.
