There was a supposed phone call that claimed a girl of 16 was being forced to have sex with an older man. The caller has not been found but the call came from Colorado although the group lives on a ranch in Texas. Michael Kinsley predicts that libertarians are rising but the more notable aspect of his essay is in showing how dividing politicians along libertarian versus big government grounds is not as easy as it may seem. Rep. Brian Higgins cast his vote, and helped pass, 2 spending bills this week that keep us under the thumb of BIG GOVERNMENT. The first bill was a $27.6 billion bill that would fund the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Interior, the Forest Service and the Indian Health Service for the 2008 fiscal year. The second bill was a $21.4 billion bill that would fund the Department of Treasury, the Executive office, the Judiciary, the District of Columbia and independent agencies for the 2008 fiscal year.

Michael Bloomberg announced yesterday he is no longer going to be a Republican. Is anyone really surprised? The man has practically reinvented how far Big Government policies can go to create a nanny state. I wouldn’t have been surprised if I heard he created an ordinance requiring three hours of fresh air each day for all New Yorkers. The truth is that there is nothing conservative about Bloomberg, both social and economic. Generally, Conservative governors will hold restraint with their power. However, with Bloomberg, there was not one aspect of New Yorkers’ lives he did not believe he had the obligation to intrude. Maybe he was just being a “compassionate conservative?” In reality, everyone knows he only ran as a Republican because the way mayoral elections work in New York. Small government politicians go to UN-do Big Government.
Big Government politicians are held back by their own “Do Nothing” allies.
Small government politicians are held back by our own “UN-do Nothing” allies.
Numerous elected politicians proclaim their support for smaller government. Many campaign for reducing and removing waste from federal and state government budgets.
But they Un-do nothing. Few even try.
They carp and complain and campaign against Big Government. But they UN-do nothing.
They do NOT introduce bills to reduce, remove, repeal, or roll back Big Government programs or spending.
They do
